leicsmac Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Criminals in South Africa don't tend to give warnings before they shoot someone - the murder rate in the cities there is massive. Therefore I'm inclined to think a guy missing his legs who thinks someone is breaking into his house wouldn't either. It's full well saying 'everyone knows' he shot his wife - and actually I'm inclined to believe that was indeed what happened based on instinct alone, but instinct isn't good enough, Innocent until proven guilty and the prosecution has got to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that that was what happened. It's not cut and dried. There's pretty obvious parallels with the OJ Simpson murder case, and we all know how that turned out - the prosecution dropped the ball in a few different ways and he walked. Of course Pistorious won't be walking if he gets off but you get the idea.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I think it's quite funny that people assume he was a lovely guy because he was handicapped before he shot his bitch in the face.
MPH Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I can only assume toothpaste and deodorant is expensive over there for a burglar to want to lock himself into a bathroom..... I mean, to break into a mansion and go straight for the toothpaste....
Strokes Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I can only assume toothpaste and deodorant is expensive over there for a burglar to want to lock himself into a bathroom..... I mean, to break into a mansion and go straight for the toothpaste.... The handrails in the shower were made from gold.
BoneDog Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Isnt this comment racist? If he was black, and someone said is this nigger going to be doing time, there would be an outcry. Just asking. No it's not racist, I was just trying to be funny. Honky is not an offensive term to me, it is just an amusing word. I'm literally a honky. Toothpaste white.
Kitchandro Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Are people really jumping to his defence? Embarrassing.
Legend_in_blue Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 The guy has a gun with him everywhere he goes, a restaurant, shooting through the roof of his cà r etc. Im beginning to think that its quite difficult to understand exactly the situation here because clearly gun laws in this country are vastly different to our own. Noone is going into a restaurant here with a gun without someone doing something about it, and yet over there, they apologised and left, no questions asked. It will be interesting to see what he has to say about himself when he takes to the stand.
leicsmac Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Are people really jumping to his defence? Embarrassing. Why? If he's found guilty in this court of law, of course he should be condemned and locked up. But until then, he's innocent. That's the way the justice system works - not on gut feelings, assumptions and innuendo. Well, the amount you can afford for lawyers tends to help too, I think.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I do hope justice prevails for the sawn off man with a shotgun
marko Posted 11 April 2014 Posted 11 April 2014 Anyone watching Advocate Nel cross-examine Pistorious? Brutal stuff. Just imagine if you had someone like him as father-in-law.
AKCJ Posted 11 April 2014 Posted 11 April 2014 Anyone watching Advocate Nel cross-examine Pistorious? Brutal stuff. Just imagine if you had someone like him as father-in-law. He's come across as a right **** from the bits i've seen. The whole "zombie stopper" thing was a complete joke.
Mack Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 The prosecution lawyer Mr Nel is ripping Piostorious to shreds over a lot of the finer detail. And if he continues to score by landing punches picking apart the defendants story the judge, who will make the final verdict, might well begin to doubt a word he has said and discount all of this testimony when she makes her final decision. You have to wonder in cases like these though given all the media attention if anyone could get a fair or clean trial.
NewburyFox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 His character and credibility has took an absolute battering by Nel this week. He doesn't seem to take responsibility for anything, and he can't admit that he intended to shoot the gun as that makes it easier for the prosecution to show that he intended to kill. Instead, he's coming out with some vague lines about how he shot 4 involuntary bullets out of fear and that he never meant to shoot anyone. What gets me is that he claims that he was shouting for Reeva to get down and call the police before he fired. He was roughly 3m away from her at this point, so why wouldn't she just say that it was her in there? There's far too many holes in his story for me. I was previously on the fence but after this week, I think he will go down for it. His story doesn't add up.
purpleronnie Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I haven't followed it but has he said why he never checked his girlfirend was safe before shooting through a closed door?
marko Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I haven't followed it but has he said why he never checked his girlfirend was safe before shooting through a closed door? Yes. He basically said when he woke she was awake as well and they spoke briefly, he then went to fetch fans from the balcony. As the fan was switched on and blowing directly into his face as he was on his stumps, he couldn't hear her get up/roll over the bed and go to the bathroom. Then he placed the fan down, closed the curtains and began to cover an LED on his amplifier that was giving off light. He then heard the window open and door in the bathroom shut at which point he said to Reeva to call the police and get down, assuming she hadn't moved whilst he brought in the fan. He then starting screaming for the intruder to get out of his house as he went down the passage to the bathroom, turned the corner and whilst still shouting, kept moving his eyes between the bathroom door and open window as he wasn't sure if there was more than one intruder, as he thought there was a ladder outside the window as he'd had contractors in as he was selling his house. He then heard a sound from the bathroom door which he thought was someone coming out to attack him and Reeva, at which point he fired four shots.
Bert Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Whilst some of the guilt and tears is genuine I think some of it is crocodile tears. He knows that he's done it and wants to do anything he can to get off with it.
Haydos Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I haven't followed it but has he said why he never checked his girlfirend was safe before shooting through a closed door? Because it's South Africa.
ScouseFox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Whilst some of the guilt and tears is genuine I think some of it is crocodile tears. He knows that he's done it and wants to do anything he can to get off with it. Even if he'd shot her in a fit of rage or after an argument I assume he'd still be incredibly upset thinking back to it.
Kitchandro Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Because it's South Africa. It's also his fvcking girlfriend. His story has got more holes in it than Forest's defence.
johnny the fox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I know if somebody tried to steal my toilet paper Id shoot the bastard.
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 They'd had an argument, she locked herself in the bathroom, he tried to bash the door down with a cricket bat, failed, so he fired his gun instead. That's the most plausible run of events imo.
MPH Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 One thing that seems to of been missed by most people is that she met up for coffee with her ex boyfriend of six years the day before the shooting...
BoneDog Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 All those tears are for himself in my opinion. He's crying for his own sorry ass and doesn't seem to have genuine remorse. Not that I've seen much of the trial. I've known people who've gone to prison and cried because they've let their family down and they worry about how their family will cope while they're away, but I don't think it's like that with Pistorius. He's a mentalist.
Danno Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 If he wasn't a famous athlete this would never have gone on for this long, guilty or not guilty of murder he'll still going to prison.
