Burmesefox Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 half of you on here are jumping to conclusions and talking utter carp. We dont know if we are supporting Beckfords wages. JB may have accepted a reduced wage packet with nil compensation for leicester breaking the contract, his agent may have negotiated a full compensatory package, they all may have agreed half way or anywhere between - who knows. JB may have receieved a signing on fee or a severance fee. Anything can be included in a tripartite agreement if all sides agree to it.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 I'm pretty sure there isn't any 'rule' about lost earnings. For a transfer to take place the club have to agree a fee for his registration and the player and his new club wages. If a player doesn't accept the wages offered his fall back option is to see out his exisiting contract (which he is legally entitled to). It comes down Beckford's threat of seeing out his contract vs. our threat of making him sit on the bench for two years if he does so. If we take Beckford's threat seriously then we might provide some sort of severance package to encourage him to go It all amounts to the same thing as above but I think it is negotiation rather than any 'right' Basically this. There is no way that there is a "rule" about that. There might be an accepted practice, but there isn't a rule. It wouldn't be legal to enforce that. That said, if I was Beckford, I'd demand any shortfall to be made up by LCFC. He may have been a shit player for us, but I wouldn't begrudge him the full earnings of a contract he signed in good faith with the owners.

But they keep telling me no one would ever take a cut in money or walk away from a better deal. I am being to think if he don't sign we break leg.
Jace Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 This transfer just keeps getting better & better Matt Mills will return to Leicester as part of the deal
Webbo Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 But they keep telling me no one would ever take a cut in money or walk away from a better deal. I am being to think if he don't sign we break leg. I've never said he hadn't I was just disagreeing with the people who say he should. I wouldn't.
Fox92 Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 apparently any money received has gone straight to Everton due to money still being owed on a monthly basis, Leicester just glad to get him off the wage bill. Meh. Not surprised, but still not pleased to hear it. However, I'm just glad we've got shot of his ridiculous wages, that was priority (and still is with other players).

Guest bss9401 Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 I am pleased that he has moved on but wish him luck because I think that he is above average at this level and do not agree with many of the opinions of him. Dougie Freedman is no mug and Bolton may get good service from him. Time will tell. I am hoping that selling him may free up for us to spend. Ironically I am concerned because Nige does not seem to be good at restoring strikers' confidence as proven with Waggy, Beckford, Futacs, Wood and Vardy.

Totally disagree,he's never shown anything to suggest he is above average - if anything he is bang average at best which makes the wages he earned all the more ridiculous. Ironically I am concerned because Nige does not seem to be good at restoring strikers' confidence as proven with Waggy, Beckford, Futacs, Wood and Vardy. I agree with you here though (to an extent), our record of getting the best out of strikers hasnt been great although Nugent has done okay. On the flipside - I would argue that Wood is the only player who is actually good enough to make a difference at this level.

I would like to know what you have seen that makes Beckford above average at this level because I am completely baffled.
Dan Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 Just saying I like his attitude. He's a positive thinker. A lot like myself in many ways.
davieG Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 JERMAINE BECKFORD will be a Bolton player by the time the squad flies off to Spain for pre-season training. Bolton are still dotting the Is and crossing the Ts but confirmation of the two-year deal is expected to be announced before the weekend. The two clubs agreed a fee of around £1 million just over a week ago and Beckford has agreed personal terms, which means he will take a wage cut from the reported £30,000-a-week salary he receives at City. After undergoing a medical on Tuesday, Beckford will now join up with Dougie Freedman's squad ahead of a week of warm-weather training in Marbella on Sunday. The Bolton manager is no stranger to Beckford as they were strike partners during their time together at Leeds United. So Freedman believes he knows how to get the best out of his new striker. "I played with him at Leeds so I know exactly what he is all about and what makes him tick," he said. "He wants to prove something to himself and I think we'll be the beneficiaries of that." ronnup Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 Good luck to him. Think we're in desperate need if some competition in that spot. Vardy, Futacs and Waghorn aren't good enough. Nuge and Wood guaranteed a start currently.
Happy Fox Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 Marc Iles â€@MarcIles6m Couple of interesting things potentially developing with Beckford transfer - looks like there might be another twist in the tale! Marc Iles â€@MarcIles6m Just heard about a contractual issue at #lcfc end, and few of you have mentioned about an injury possibly holding things up. Marc Iles â€@MarcIles5m Still fully expect it to go through. But timings appear to have gone out of the window from earlier this week...
LCFC FOX Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 I read somewhere that Nugent has picked up an injury in training, But even that I don't think NP would keep Beckford

_Fatboyslow_ Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 That's it I can not take this any more, break his fing legs
Vlad the Fox Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 Shit, someone has realised his left and right feet are on the wrong legs.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 If it falls through I'm fvcking done From the out side looking in there would only be one reason this deal will not go through and that will be because of mr nice guy i only want to play /be given a chance to probe myself If it falls through I'm fvcking done From the out side looking in there would only be one reason this deal will not go through and that will be because of mr nice guy i only want to play /be given a chance to probe myself. Lambert09 Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 Is it something to do with his other job, 'being J.Cole'? I can see how double contracts could get tricky
Toffee_Fox Posted 5 July 2013 Posted 5 July 2013 looks like hes taking a punt at many things there just checked it out and hes tweeted about 10 different things. Beckford not at training, he is training with Bolton, terms agreed, medical passed just awaiting confirmation from the clubs, which as known in the past depends upon when they just want to announce it on their sites.

We don't even announce our pre season fixtures on our site so it probably won't happen.
