KFS Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 How many times are people on here taking a sneaky look at the league table? Hahah I'm not the only one then. I'm making up a tonne of variables as well, where's that BBC predictor gone?
MC Prussian Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Hahah I'm not the only one then. I'm making up a tonne of variables as well, where's that BBC predictor gone? Could be that they'll re-introduce it once the season's coming closer to an end.

MC Prussian Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 It's currently my google chrome homepage. It would make for a sexy desktop wallpaper - but you'd have to change it every seven days or so.
Dan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I'm trying to stop commenting on Forest as it makes me look obsessed but I'm sorry, they're outdoing themselves this time - apparently they're planning a 'Fawaz Day' to show respect for all he's done lol They are going to look the biggest morons in the universe if they don't go up. I think seeing them fail in these circumstances, with all the arselicking of Fawaz, would be as priceless as beating them in the Premier League. Thoroughly hope they don't do it. Sorry to Redhux and the other decent Forest fans.

Sorry to Redhux and the other decent Forest fans. I think they'll do it this year, if William didn't prattle about playing defenders up front instead of the decent strikers he's got they might be closer to us. They'll manage to end their exile somehow.

To be honest thinking of the others, I think it's going to take something remarkable for us not to go up this season. If anything Burnley & QPR have regressed - and Derby/Forest aren't catching us IMO.

Burnley and derby will drop out of contention soon I think.
foxfanazer Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I agree that Forest and Reading have a real chance of an automatic place. Teams don't seem to fear QPR as much as they do us.
Happy Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Burnley and Dierby are good enough for the playoffs and have probably done enough to stay their, QPR should be fearful of the Redshite and Reading.

If anything Burnley & QPR have regressed - and Derby/Forest aren't catching us IMO. QPR have been a real let down for me, got a manager loved by virtually all and plays amazing football apparently yet we've scored 16 goals more than them and they've had fantastic resources for a club at this level. Burnley are still doing better than expected and are still unbeaten at home, just drawing too many. Forest will continue to improve I reckon and Derby might drift away, Reading will probably go above them.
Fox in the North Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 One of Forest's "new" signings David Vaughan is apparently out for 3 months. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/9150500/nottingham-forest-fear-on-loan-midfielder-david-vaughan-may-be-out-for-three-months I think a little violin is starting to play...
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Not going to miss him when we play them, all he did was foul players earlier in the season.
reynard Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Yeah I reckon QPR should worry about reading and forest making a mad dash for the number two space. Burnley and derby will drop out of contention soon I think. Not so sure about this. Burnley are drawing but have to play us, Derby and forest at home. They looked good vs QPR. Current maximum points as follows Leicester 117 QPR 110 Burnley 107 Forest 104 Derby 103 Reading 98 Wigan 97 It looks quite likely three sides will get 90 points or more based on current form so for Reading to go up or Wigan would require them to probably only drop 5 or 6 points between now and the end of the season unless the top 5 collapse badly. Long way to go yet. Forest don't look like dropping many points and I don't think QPR will either.
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I personally think qpr will pull away from the crowd. Derby and burnley will be the biggest threat. Forest draw too many and suffer slumps I still feel they could slip out the play offs.
lancyclaret Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 If you look on the QPR forums, many say Burnley are "the best team" to play at Loftus Road this season - but I'd rather have been Leicester and won 1-0 than going on all-out attack only to draw 3-3. The reason why Burnley will get play-offs at best can be seen in the last 3 games - all draws against Sheff Wed, Brighton and QPR. We could easily have won all three but the woodwork and goal-line clearances saved the Owls and Seagulls while Ings missed a good chance to make it 4-2 late on at QPR. Earlier in the season when we won 10 out of the first 13 games, we were putting our chances away - only 4 wins in the last 15 games with NINE draws but we have only played badly once in all those games - a 1=0 Boxing Day defeat at Middlesbrough. I am not thinking of auto although we are only 3 behind QPR - I won't relax until we seal a play-off place (could go down to the last 2 games when we have Ipswich at home and Reading away on final day). I really hope Leicester can get at least a draw at Forest - if they did the "double" over you it would be a slight black mark in a superb season.

From a neutral point of view mate, d'you dislike Forest and their cretinous owner/manager/fans as much as we do?
lancyclaret Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 From a neutral point of view mate, d'you dislike Forest and their cretinous owner/manager/fans as much as we do? Out of all the teams in with a chance of automatic promotion, Forest are my LEAST favourite ( can't stand Billy Davies from his Preston days). I have a horrible feeling the 4 "deadline day" signings may be enough to see them finish second, but if we are only in the play-offs I'd rather face QPR, Derby and Reading rather than Forest. We usually do OK against QPR and Derby and beat Reading in both legs last time we were in play-offs.

We usually do OK against QPR and Derby and beat Reading in both legs last time we were in play-offs. If I had it my way, it'd be Leicester and Burnley auto and Derby through the playoffs. Why? Leicester and Burnley have similar models, and although I've been vocal on how much Dyche annoys me with his whinging, the model is respectable. Derby? I'd like a Derby in the Premier League that's winnable, they've also got a good model. I want Billy Davies to experience play off heartache, so Forest to lose at Wembley.
lancyclaret Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I agree Dyche whinges a bit too much - it annoys me when he bangs on about "big clubs" and their bigger wage budgets, but I have some sympathy when he moans about referees. In all THREE of our defeats this season, there has been at least one shocking decision by a referee which led to an opponents' goal and last season bad referees cost us about 10 points. For example we lost 1-0 at home to Charlton after Trippier was sent off early on for an unintentional handball (they missed the penalty but scored a late winner against the run of play) and at home to Birminghan we were 1-1 but well on top when Dean Marney got a straight red after 60 minutes for a tackle which left Paul Robinson in a heap. It was a fair tackle and Marney won the ball but the ref showed red as he ruled that Marney had tackled with "excessive force". Marlon King then gave Brum a last-minute winner but Marney won his appeal and the red card was rescinded. But we still lost 2-1 because of a joke ref when with 11 we probably would have gained a 4th successive win and continued a play off push. Instead, we did not win any of the next 4/5 games.
Leicester City Gentry Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 We've been pretty fortunate with refereeing this year - I think plenty of decisions have gone our way, which makes up for past seasons when we seemed to get the rough end of the stick from refs. Ultimately though, I don't ever think bad calls really have that much of an impact on your season - if you show the quality throughout the season then you generally get your rewards and the poor decisions pale into insignificance.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I don't think Burnley have the midfield of enough quality to break stubborn defences, hence the amount of draws. I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about the Burnley midfield though, but maybe that because it's shit
