Hollism Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Does this mean LTLF will have to sponsor a new player? lol In all seriousness, it's a horrible thing to happen to anyone, no less an athlete. It's a fractured lower back, so time will only tell if he has a future at this level.
lupojohn Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 As far as who will join you guys in the PL next season, I think QPR will go up automatically. I fancy Reading in the playoffs.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Fookin awful injury that. Doubtful he'll return the same player.
kingcarr21 Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Not a nice injury for Lansbury a great player will be intersting to see if this injury to a key player will derail there promotion attempt (F****** hope so)
lancyclaret Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 All these Forest injuries and QPR (Austin & Phillips) - perhaps it is the footballing "gods" way of keeping it a level playing field for the promotion contenders? The more Forest an QPR try to buy their way out of the championship, the more injuries they get to key players.
Silverdaz Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 I have to say the amount of injuries Forest are getting is abnormal, could they all be just a coincidence? Something to do with the way Billy does training sessions or asks his teams to play, or maybe their scouting system is flawed and they always sign vulnerable players? Its alright they have the best squad in the division apparently. On a side not does anyone else have a problem with threads disappearing as I started a thread about this but it has vanished
FoxLAD Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 If anyone i'd prefer Burnley to go up with us. But at the same .. i don't want them to go up due to the fact i want us to sign Trippier & Ings.
Captain... Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would stick it in here. This is what we are all playing for: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10072297/New-Premier-League-TV-deal-promises-100m-prize-money-for-next-seasons-title-winners.html Manchester United earned a record £60.8 million in Premier League TV money after winning the title – but even the club who finish bottom next season will exceed that income because of the top flight’s huge new broadcasting deals. Whoever gets promoted this season will earn around £63 million even if they finish bottom in the prem!!! I'm not sure what the current TV deal is in the Championship, but I read the prize money for winning the league is £50k, £25k for runner up, the difference is huge and it keeps on getting bigger, even if we go up and come straight back down we well have the money to fund a successful return, I do worry about any club that fails to get promoted at least once in the next few years as FFP will restrict their buying power while any relegated club will have huge parachute payments. I just hope that any club going up makes sensible contracts with big reductions in wages for relegation, or has small wages but with big prem bonuses that stop after relegation.
davieG Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Its alright they have the best squad in the division apparently. On a side not does anyone else have a problem with threads disappearing as I started a thread about this but it has vanished I moved it into the topic labelled' forest stuff' as we already had several forest related topic including this Championship one and didn't need another. If you go into your profile and look for your 'Posts' you'll see it's new location.
Stadt Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 FFP coupled with the tv money from the prem will mean that championship wages will be tiny in comparison. Which will only increase the void between the divisions, in my opinion this'll be detrimental to the development of English players.
lancyclaret Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 There will still be at least one skint club challenging every season for a top six place - in 2009 it was Burnley, 2010 Blackpool, 2011 Swansea, 2012 Blackpool again, 2013 Crystal Palace, 2014 Burnley again at moment. When we came down we had £16 million parachute money for the 2010/11 season and a very good championship squad - unfortunaterly we had Brian Laws as manager and wasted our chance of an immediate return to the Prem.

But things will change with FFP and increased parachute payments, you could potentially have 9 teams in the championship with millions in parachute payments to help them get up, I know money isn't everything and parachute payments aren't going to necessarily stop a club freefall, like Wolves did. I am hoping that clubs are going to be a bit more savvy when they get promoted and not throw the kitchen sink at a desperate attempt to stay up which if unsuccessful will leave them stuck with a bloated squad of overpaid underperforming dross.
Super_horns Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Brighton the latest to post massive losses - its really is success or bust for so many. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26055733 Maybe some good news for you with Matt Phillips out for QPR for the rest of the season (not sure if he played much anyway..)
lancyclaret Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Eventually there will be a wage cap in the Championship. In Italy's Serie B, no player can earn more than £5,000-a-week including bonuses and incentives. It would certainly stop so-called big clubs like Leeds, Forest etc. attracting players with big wages.

It would also severely widen the gap between the championship and premier league....
AKCJ Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 That is astounding. We could be paid more than the club is currently worth if we finish bottom of the league? Jesus.

Massive loss for them
foxfanazer Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Enjoyed that leicesterpool. Fans sounded great
The Doctor Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 That was ridiculous, blowing a bloody gale in Yeovil at the moment.
Fox92 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 That was ridiculous, blowing a bloody gale in Yeovil at the moment. Just counted for that goal there. 2-1 Leeds.
The Doctor Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 ****ing hell - cracker of a strike, but the wind didn't half take that.
ealingfox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Leeds have certainly got an outside chance of top 6, even putting a little run together will put them right back in the mixer. McDermz is definitely capable.
Fox92 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Yeovil fans "You're nothing special, we lose every week".
