The number of vape shops establishing themselves in towns is quite worrying.

Yes, mainly set up by Eastern Europeans, probably as a front.

The explosion in Vietnamese nail bars in the city a few years ago are a front for laundering the profits from Cannabis. The major supplier of which in our city are from Vietnamese grows.

I find it's hit and miss. I thought it seemed fine when I went two weeks ago, but my previous experience to that was not good. I didn't feel anymore unsafe but it just wasn't pleasant - with all the Deliveroo riders and drug addicts etc - and makes you think what's the point in venturing in. Will struggle to get my partner to go in for food/drinks in the evening now.

Clearly an issue in all cities though.

Tell me the nice bits of the City Centre.

Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy with Stoneygate and Clarry Park on my doorstep, but the actual City Centre, nah, no thanks.

I've worked in crime for 19 years this year, and I know for 100% certainty this is the worst its been, the last 18 months particularly.

A few months ago a dodgy batch of smack went out and put 35 in hospital, with 5 found dead on the streets. Its a shit show out there.

I work in the city centre and majority of the times I finish at 10pm, absolutely hate it, avoid town at all costs now unless I'm working or going train station.

Having moved to the Gold Coast, Australia, it’s an absolute yes for me. Don’t get me wrong, Leicester will always be home and I’m proud to be from there, but once you live in a city like the Gold Coast, you’ll never go back. It almost feels second or third world in comparison. I know that sounds extreme, but it’s truely depressing seeing the difference.

Didn't try hard enough.

Or nobody was interested in my new Sage kettle. Muggers have no taste nowadays.

Yup.  Oadby and Wigston town centres are now just money laundering hubs.

All that investment - gone up in smoke.

Centres - especially in peripheral towns and poorer areas - have all seen it. Retail is has been in structural decline for years. The growth of e-commerce and retail parks all drawing footfall away from centres.

These dudes take over vacant lots with high margin, low overhead businesses that require no specialist skills/knowledge to run.

Genuinely felt less safe in Bath than I ever have walking around Leicester city centre. My missus would say the same thing.

That's sad, especially as it's a great city architecturally and scenicy.

Nice? Last time I went there, one of the girls went straight from the stage to working the door. Serve us right for having a mid-week stag.

This the one?

If I disclosed that I'd lose my job, but it was part of an official report.

Are you the same bloke that does the "undercover" food reviews for the Mercury?

Impossible. From what I've heard, there are 5 criminals for every decent, Daily Mail-reading person who dares walk the streets.

They don't walk the streets. They're either shopping at Morrison's or watching Countdown in their reclining chairs that double as a bed.

You’d think town was downtown Johannesburg circa 1994 reading on here

Even Kookar Pind and Kaparthula Town is better than Leicester.  Actually 90% of pinds are better than Leicester
