40/1 for the drop I see

This might've been mentioned on this thread before but I can't be bothered looking all the way through... I genuinely think we shouldn't rule out the drop this season. With us having a tiny squad as it is and not making any signings from the massacre of the three months we just had of last season plus the competition of other clubs (around 18 are considered within a chance, excluding us) snapping up very decent players, I could see us trying to scrape the barrel. Hoping my pessimistic views are incorrect but that's how I see things ATM, and I fully accept this FFP situation... But has any other club in this league not brought in a player yet other than us? Very worried.

Another realist?

Careful mate, you'll be attacked for such balanced views & called a WORM by the Stalin like forces at Foxes Talk.

I'd love all these miserable ****ers on here to put a grand on each for this. Could actually respect them a little more then

You mean you want them skint and living in boxes...

Fair enough, but so who was in charge or does that result just go into a black hole, he was the manager and if this is correct then he chose not to pick the team and go into the dressing room, so he was in charge of the situation really !  so is 3 from 13 good then even though you try to negate it down from 3 in 14 ?  Splitting hairs l would say, bit desperate eh ?

Or the board said perhaps we think it best that you observe considering you haven't even seen the team train.

There is no splitting hairs, he saved them, he improved their ppg ratio, he lost less games. End of story. It's you lot that are trying to manipulate a case against him that he's shit because they seemingly didn't win every game under him.

The squad should still be good enough to finish above the Barnsley's and Huddersfields comfortably.

For all the bad form we actually finished the season rather well.

A  poor loss at home to Watford was sandwiched in between a super win at Forest, win at home to a flying Bolton and a decent draw at Palace.

The talent is clearly there. The poor run of form was bizarre but there is no reason to think that is hasn't been put behind us given the way we finished.

We won't be going down but with the team we have we won't be going up either! Avarage just like last season we didn't deserve to be in the playoffs

Relagation? Dear me. Dont care what anyone says, apart from a couple of gaMes, we were hard to beat. This young team has had a season together, theyll look at play offs with an urge to go one better. Can people really see a team with Schmeichel, Morgan, King/James, Nugent/Wood as the spine of the team, go down? People getting impatient with signings, rather we take time to choose the right players instead of wanting every good player left right and centre, been there done that and failed.

Have we ever had a season where we've lost by more than one goal less than last season?

I know a loss is a loss but it did seem quite extraordinary

He did only lose 4 games in a spell that kept ultimately kept Southampton up!

Almost every manager has a few bad spells in their career, MON didn't win a game in 11 in a team that was in the top 3 when he took over us. He also had spell like that in the top flight too.

I'm not saying NP is in the same league and MON, just to make that clear.

Errrm we were not in the top three when Mon took over us. We didn't win in our first six games and people were calling for his head. We then went on an amazing run and finished in sixth place that season on the final day of the season at Watford Izzet scored the goal. The rest is history Claridge shinned it in.

As for the away form: Maybe Pearson had little choice to use the same formation due to injured or ill players? There are so many others reasons why a(n) (away) form can drop - why is it always the manager that is your main target in that regard? How about players lacking form, the opposition being more motivated or simply better on the day, etc.? All conveniently left out of your repetitious argumentation...

That really is a desperate defence of our appalling away form throughout the season.

You can make as many excuses as you want but with away form like ours you can only blame it on the way we set out to play.

No, you can't. That would be oversimplifying a situation.

I'm not excusing our poor run last season, I'm trying to find possible and reasonable explanations why things went tits up for 13 odd games.

But I can see it being way easier making one man only one's sole target. It makes everything so effortless.

Whether it's the correct view or not, the manager always carries the can for poor form. whether anyone thinks that's right or not is irrelevant, that's the way it is. The managers know this so you expect them to be able to deal with this.

Pearson is on a cool £1m a year, so he should be man enough to stand by his decisions and tactics. I don't think last season's crash was all his fault, the players need to take their fair share of responsibility, but let's just say that Pearson didn't exactly cover himself in glory at times, especially away from home.

God knows... but we werethe only team in the league to not concede more than two goals in any league game.

We finished sixth, we deserved to be in the play-offs.

Away form went tits up for the best part of 26 games not 13.

We never really looked up for it away from home, trying to blame that on illness, injuries, form or the opposition playing better on the day is not realistic.

We were only battered once really and that was at Barnsley.

the thing to worry about is if we get long term injuries to key players.

we're going to have a small and somewhat young squad. all  well and good for saving money, but not if we get injuries and have to put the shoulder to the wheel.

Of course it is realistic. Certainly more realistic than simply pushing one button for Manager Attack Mode.

i believe we had one of the tightest defences in  the championship when  we got relegated to league one.

didn't really help did it?

Being coached by Ian Holloway didn't help, either.

No they can still live with their mums if they choose to.

Last season we were the 4th highest in goals scored so with that a good defense is quite helpful

certainly not, he's only had 2 promotions to the prem compared to nigels ZERO.

if only we could use the attack from one season and the defence from another, we'd be in the champions league by now!
