Zingari Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 "A fourth estate, independent in name and fact from the operations of government, is of the essence of a free society." I wonder if we'll ever get one?
leicsmac Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 I wonder if we'll ever get one? We did have one, but not any more. As for the question, not likely. Modern mass media is in bed with the politicians and the leading business members, and always will be.

Still not much we can do about it though.

leicsmac Posted 28 July 2013 Posted 28 July 2013 "We must do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian-Darwinian theory, he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living." ozleicester Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 My favourite quote from all film: "Leave the gun, take the cannoli." Brilliant, and i read somewhere it was an ad-lib. oh and... "This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never -- in nothing, great or small, large or petty -- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

Edit: purchased.
