theessexfox Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 Do it when I have a cold whilst playing sport, it tends to come up then and it actually helps get rid of the stuff blocking up my throat. No other purpose though.
Harry - LCFC Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 Quite a big infringement on personal freedom IMO. Not pleasant I agree but compare it to pornography where we had a lot of people on that thread speaking out against the introduction of an opt-in system. Not an outright ban I emphasise, just a small barrier. Find it a bit hypocritical for people to want to make spitting, a rather small and petty 'offence', illegal but aren't happy to put a very minor barrier on something that I think is much worse.
Rincewind Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 Someone found and read out on the radio today a story of a woman that went around a park picking up sweep wrappers etc. This time she stopped to brush some dirt that was on her dogs. A park warden saw her doing this and fined her for littering. Should go in the funny stories.
Leeds Fox Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 I've had to do it a few times, after a cough for example... but I'd always try to wait to pass an alley/snicket and be sly about it. Oh and so many times I've done it playing football, it's ended up being a lot thicker than I thought and ended up all over my shirt. Always a bit embarrassing!
separator Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Somebody spat at me at work recently. As I sometimes work in the public areas of tube and train stations i'm often confronted by fare dodgers / irate passengers / nutters and somebody recently pushed me out the way and spat at me whilst jumping over a ticket barrier. All tube stations have DNA spit kits which we use to take samples and pass them on the transport police. Anyway, heard back on friday that the guy that spat at me wasn't on the database so no further action can be taken, although his DNA is now on the system. Funny thing is i'm nothing to do with customer service at train stations, just an unfortunate engineer who wears a hi-vis jacket. In the 14 years i've worked on London Transport i've been robbed twice, been to court twice as a witness to staff assaults, spat at, punched, and was working at Oval station when the failed bombings on july 21st 2005 occurred. Gotta love the travelling public. makes the job interesting though.
Shoe Seller Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 It's almost always pikeys who do it. Pikeys have no respect for the law (or anyone else). I support it but its not as if its law fearing folk who are doing it.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 28 July 2013 Posted 28 July 2013 Any pricks that spit on the ground should be shot in front of their families.

Rincewind Posted 28 July 2013 Posted 28 July 2013 Any pricks that spit on the ground should be shot in front of their families. A little severe but I agree with the sentiment.
