midland_red Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Coventry are a big club. They have history like us, and unlike us they've won the FA Cup. They do have loyal fans, fans that have followed them for years just like us. Coventry is a big City, and gave it's all for us during the War. It's not nice to see a club play away from their home, it's not nice to see them go out of business (potentially). I hope they get saved, or something. I hope they get promoted. Rivalry is put aside in situations such as these, and personally, I'd like to see Leicester, Derby, Nottingham Forest and Coventry all play in the Premier League again. Absolutely right....if we had had the misfortune to end up with owners like cov did that could have been us. Like to see chaventry lose but seeing them forced under by financial ledgerdemain is something else. We should show solidarity
Dan Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 I thought their attendance was a wind-up. That is a total embarrassment.
Carl the Llama Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 In their slight defence, 11k isn't terrible by L1 standards. Â That said, Sheffield Utd manage 18-20k on a regular basis in that league so to not even come close to that in your second match back at the 32k seater home you were so desperate to return to is poor.
johnny the fox Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 Coventry attendance today 11,000; lost 16,000 fans in a week! certainly plastic fans..melted away.. if they REALLY supported their beloved club and got 27,000 every home game they would without doubt be out of that league very quickly, obviously they just don't want it bad enough.
Carl the Llama Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 Despite my location I somehow work with not one, but two Cov fans.  I feel like a king with his peasants when they're on the same shift as me.
Corky Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 The first crowd was a huge anomaly but to lose 16k on the next gate is staggering. You'd think with the feelgood factor of going home and actually winning a game for once they'd hit over 20k again.  They'll never make it their home if two thirds of the ground is empty.
Fox92 Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 11k isn't bad for League One level really but for a club like Coventry I'd expect more, at least 15k/17k, especially everything that's happened and people wanted them back in the City. Â Only Bradford, Bristol City and Sheffield United have averaged more than 10k so far this season.

It is bad when you think about it in relative terms to clubs of similar size, or clubs in places of similar size though. In fact, it's terrible - made all the more worse by their constant campaigning to "return home."

11k is absolutely diabolical. For a club that managed to get 27k for a Friday night game on their return home, for it to go down by as many as it did is nothing short of embarrassing.  That Gillingham game should've been the start of a new era but to me it looks like they've barely moved on at all. It's a terrible effort from their lot.

Corky Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 What sort of crowds do Preston get? Â Crowds have been 12k, 11k, 11k and 8k so far this season.
Fox92 Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 What sort of crowds do Preston get? Â Average 10.9k. Should have included them in my original post really. Decent sized club Preston, good history, again though it's size of the place. I mean, it's alright saying Sheffield United average 19k at that level but you're talking about the fifth biggest City in the Country. Fair play it is a two club City (and I know Sheffield United have always been well supported anyway). Â http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalAttendance/0,,10794~201425,00.html
