Dan Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 We would've without a doubt filled the ground in their position tonight. On the flip side - apparently they've sold out.
Sir Fynwy Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Just seen Cov fans being interview on SSN, one fan, infact a couple I think made the quote "Dismal, crowds have been low" to the question "What have the past 18 months been like" :crylaugh: Think i've heard 22,000 for tonight, poor imo. Even if it is more they need to have consistently good crowds to be worth them 'going home' after all the fuss the City has made. Capacity has been limited by their SAG and the police, they've sold every available ticket so how is that poor?
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 We would've without a doubt filled the ground in their position tonight. On the flip side - apparently they've sold out. We'd of sold tickets I'm not having 22,000 for a televised League One game as "poor" though. If they've sold out then hats off to them.
Matt Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 For League One, televised game? Have a day off. Better than our average when we were down there. For an average League One tevevised game yes i'd agree, it's very good for a League One televised game but in these circumstances? We'd sell out without doubt and that's with my blue tinted glasses off. Our average attendence was just over 1,500 short of 22,000 in League One. And if they have sold out fair play, i'm just saying i've heard its 22,000, and if so it poor, compared to what we would have sold. If they have sold out fair play to them, I can't argue, they've done what we'd have done and well done. My point still remains about keeping these sell out's consistant though, which I'm almost certain they won't, I give it 3 games before they go down to claiming 20,000 attendance - which in reality will be 15,000 or less. I always had to laugh about the attendances they used to claim, i'm not sure if they're allowed to lie about attendences or whether they were sold seats but people hadn't turned up (i.e - STH that didn't turn up, why you'd buy one and not turn up I don't know) but if there were genuinly 20,000 there my eyes need checking.
Corky Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Matt, it's an historic night for Coventry and good luck to them on returning. We are still well ahead of them on the pitch, they've drawn with Swindon, we draw with Arsenal. Their next home game is Gillingham, ours is Manchester United. They'll get a big crowd tonight but they are still a League One club and that's what really counts in this rivalry There will be good crowds initially then like all clubs attendances will depend on form and opposition.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Be more interesting to see how many turn up for their next game at the Ricoh.
marko Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 What is up with the pitch? There was an exhibition there earlier in the week and it's the marks the tents left.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 September 2014 Posted 6 September 2014 Coventry are a big club. They have history like us, and unlike us they've won the FA Cup. They do have loyal fans, fans that have followed them for years just like us. Coventry is a big City, and gave it's all for us during the War. It's not nice to see a club play away from their home, it's not nice to see them go out of business (potentially). I hope they get saved, or something. I hope they get promoted. Rivalry is put aside in situations such as these, and personally, I'd like to see Leicester, Derby, Nottingham Forest and Coventry all play in the Premier League again. 27,000 at the Ricoh last night.I agree, Cov could be a big club again. It'll be interesting to see whether their fans keep going in big numbers.
Finnaldo Posted 6 September 2014 Posted 6 September 2014 I'd rather see them in League 2 than in the Prem to be honest...
fuchsntf Posted 6 September 2014 Posted 6 September 2014 27,000 at the Ricoh last night. I agree, Cov could be a big club again. It'll be interesting to see whether their fans keep going in big numbers. Nearly all midland teams fans are rather fickle, including our own. 22- 27k av, with peaks around 27-30k. simple questions, if city stay up, what attendances will they see when:- city compete between 18th-15th .......................................14th-10th .......................................11th- 7th top 6.

Lets be honest, every football fan in the World is fickle.
Jordan Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 Why are some of you so concerned about Coventry's attendance? FTers have been going on about this for years. Who cares, really?
fuchsntf Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 Lets be honest, every football fan in the World is fickle. Not when it comes down to see their team play.Even in low times theres clubs around the world will always have comparable high attendences.
Kitchandro Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 27,000 at the Ricoh last night. I agree, Cov could be a big club again. It'll be interesting to see whether their fans keep going in big numbers. Of course they won't. I find it weird that 27,000 people in Coventry were so happy to see their club come back to the City, yet about 15,000 of them were never bothered before.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Singing what? I couldn't quite make it out but I think they were singing something along the lines of: "AND I CAN'T DESCRIBE - BUT THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAYYYYYYY YOU LOOK TONIGHT! TAKKKKKKKKKKES MY BREATH AWAY"
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Coventry attendance today 11,000; lost 16,000 fans in a week!
Matt Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 They need their football club back home don't you know.... Is this article a joke? http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/look-can-you-spot-yourself-7768192 The attendance at the Ricoh Arena was once again high with over 10,000 Coventry City supporters turning out in full force to see their team go seven unbeaten. 10k...full force? Even I gave them 3 games until their attendence dropped, and even then I said it'd drop to 16k, but 1 week and dropping to 10/11k, Wow.
Finnaldo Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 That's absolutely fvcking hysterical. 10k in their second game 'back home' at the Ricoh? Cov have managed to make themselves look bigger nobs than what was previously thought scientifically possible.
