Corky Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25579811 Don't think you'll be going to Wembley with Aston Villa.

I know i've read that, he's getting alot of stick for that now from Villa fans. He's already walking on a thin line, comments like these don't do him any favours.

Kitchandro Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25579811 Don't think you'll be going to Wembley with Aston Villa. What a stupid thing to say. If the squad he's built is only good enough to just about stay in the league then Villa fans aren't going to be happy. What exactly is his long term aim there? Then again Villa fans are never happy, are they?

Leicesterpool Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 Villa at the moment are on course to finish the season mid table, so Lambert expects Villa fans to be happy with finishing mid table season after season and winning f*uck all, just shows his ambition!
Aus Fox Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 So how many premier league clubs will go out in the third round? I am going for 10, leaving the conpetition wide open

ScouseFox Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Crawley vs Bristol Rovers called off. That's a second round game in a replay that has already been half played and abandoned, now postponed. Gonna be interesting to see how they're gonna fit all this in, will be 3 names on one ball in the 4th round draw.

Surely at this stage it'd make sense to eschew the replay? There could very easily be a fixture backlog for the team who won the resulting third round tie otherwise.

Crawley's Twitter feed (about the most official thing I could be arsed trying to find ) says tie (2nd round) to be played on Tuesday night between Crawley & Rovers. Then the winner plays Birmingham (3rd round) the Tuesday after, Jan 15th. Then hopefully no replay and they're caught up in time for round 4. Like you say if that 3rd round tie is a draw then they've got an absolute nightmare . Or if Tuesday's game gets abandoned/postponed for a 3rd time!

It could very easily happen that way, it's not inconceivable that you could have Round 2, Round 3, Round 3 replay and then Round 4 in a matter of about a fortnight. That will have an impact on the league fixtures of any club, and we all know which competition the given club would prioritise. Surely it'd make sense to play it at a neutral venue if it was postponed again?
Benji Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 That number 12 for Blackburn looks decent. Potential back-up for Dyer and Knockaert?

purpleronnie Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Fantastic use of "eschew". I had to google that word.
MC Prussian Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Manchester City have been a bit sloppy recently. Swansea away was already quite the lucky strike to get all three points home. Blackburn are giving them a good run for the money - I take it Rhodes wants to impress, anyway.
MC Prussian Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 And now Boyata has seen a second yellow card for a reckless challenge. Interesting few more minutes ahead.
