Beliall Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 i was 12! for me it doesnt matter when, as long as the first team they see live is leicester, i didnt really follow football until i went to filbert street, fell in love with the game and the team
crisp monster Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Definitely don't take him when it's cold - I took my son (3rd game) to the Southampton fa cup game a few years back. It was feckin freezing and we ran out of jelly babies early in the second half - believe me, it was painfully and then kenwyn Jones scored a late winner ( I think :-() My daughter started attending at the start of our league 1 season and after the MK Does game, she was ok until the winter set in and then was fine again in the spring The're both season ticket holders with me now but Millwall could be her last for a while
Winnershfox Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 My daughter was 4 going on 21 the first time I took her. She loved every minute game v Blackburn in the MOM era drew 1-1 with big Ian Marshall scoring. Has been going ever since. Now she drives and even gets my tickets. Despite living in Reading her support has never wavered and her boyfriend from Aldershot has even been converted.

Corky Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Took my lad when he was 4, in his first 4 games he saw us score 18 and let in 2. If you leave till he's at school then he could follow his new mates and be a glory hunter. What games were those?
Unabomber Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 My dad took me to my first one when I was around 18 months, he kitted me out in some decent mini stone island clobber and although I had a bit of bother with a few of their lads (the old bill sorted it) I thoroughly enjoyed it. NathanBlueFox Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 took my sister to her first game when she was 5 and the only thing she was interested in was her hot dog at half time, go without them, the wont care and you wont have to keep getting up and down taking them to the toilet ect. Bilo Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 The indoctrination should really start while he's still in the womb, play When You're Smiling on your pregnant partner's belly so you know it's the first music he hears. Sack off CBeebies and play Martin O'Neill: Legend and Leicester City:125 Years. Dress him from head to toe in blue and white, sing When You're Tired and Weary and Hark Now Hear the Leicester Sing to get him off to sleep instead of lullabies. When he's 2, take him into the Family Stand. Take him every week thereafter until one of you gets Alzheimers or dies.
theessexfox Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Is there an age limit? I've been wondering this too recently as our 1st child is due this week and thinking ahead for the future Congratulations. Any age is the right time to start supporting Leicester
Kitchandro Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Hi Jace - this was in response to your comment, but it seems to have dropped your original quote from my post !!??? Advance congratulations to you both. Fingers crossed for a smooth and fabulous day for you both. When my daughter was born, I had 'Grace' put in as her middle name (Grace Road, for the Leicester connection). Was going for 'Fox' for my son's middle name - unsurprisingly, my ex wouldn't let me go to register his birth unaccompanied !! I always thought Claridge would be a really classy name for a boy. It's got Oxford graduate written all over it.

lc4lcfc Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 I was 14/15 when I went to my first game.. Got the tickets for free went with a few mates. Decided to give it a try despite being a man utd fan. The first game was a 2-0 vs Barnsley. For me I don't think it matters with the age. It doesn't matter who his friends support. I it's his first ever live game he will want to come back
The Year Of The Fox Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 You should only take him when hes old enough to remember his first game. And make his first game a Leicester one. Not the u21's or some equally shitty non league match. I was 8 when dad took me and remember some of it fairly well. I'm glad that was genuinely my first football match and I do remember it. Rather than being 2 and it being Coalville Town.

Spudulike Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 I got a bit protective towards taking my lad to Filbo as I didn't want to expose him to the bad language and aggression. Left it until he was about 7ish and whilst waiting for the right match he announced to me whilst watching a match on TV that he liked Liverpool. He must've seen the hurt and shocked expression on my face as he never mentioned it again (and we've never spoken about it). That was it, I took him to the next match which was absolutely freezing (Mansfield, FA Cup) and was worried that it might put him off. It didn't !! He loved it and Scrowcroft became his hero (bless!!), got photo'd with Filbert Fox (and Dennis ??), and was hooked. He was then a mascot at a game during the first season at Freemen's Wharf and there hasn't been any suggestion of him being anything other than LCFC through and through. Just as well for him as he would've been the only non-Leicester fan in our family going back many generations. It would not have gone down well in with my extended family !! Illusion35 Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 I took my son to his first leicester match at age 6 and to as many afternoon home games as I can since then, he is now 10 and loves it. I am currently debating if 10 is finally old enough for school night kick offs, so we can get season tickets next season! Think some of it depends on the child, I think old enough to actually watch the football not play ds etc is important. I wouldn't take my 5 year old daughter yet as she doesn't have a long enough attention span and would annoy me/others. Incidentally he doesn't like the family stand, moans if he has to sit there if he goes with his Sunday league club as shirt wavers or escorts as they make them sit there. He likes it best in the east stand as he can join in with the songs etc. He does not and has not ever gone to the toilet during the game though, gods sake it's 45 minutes take your child to the toilet before kick off and at half time! Pet hate of mine almost as annoying as leaving on 85 mins and pushing along the whole of your row...!

Topman Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Took my daughter when she was 4 to her 1st game, think she is more interested with my phone rather than the game, but she loves tagging along and wearing her Leicester kit,!
FoxyTiler Posted 25 November 2013 Share Posted 25 November 2013 Just reading this as I'm taking my oldest to the Millwall game he is 5 I have promised him for the last 2 years that when he turns 5 I would take him.My only worry is if its to cold but then again get him wrapped up and take snacks and a portable games console.I relize that he may not have the attention span for the full 90 mins but get it into his blood before as others have said don't want the armchair fans at school telling him to like Liverpool or man utd.Plus where we are from there are loads of Forest and over my dead body will he watch them. Also got an end of row seat so the toilet trips shouldn't be such a pain for everyone else on the row just hope Leicester don't do there usual trick of losing to bloody Millwall!!
