Guest Col city fan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 He's hardly gonna say its in a worse position is he? I do agree though. Pearson has done well overall.
Devonfox1884 Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Very interesting, he has done a good job and i hope he gets the new contract he deserves for what he has done for this football club.
Unabomber Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 He has done a great job, not only in taking control of the team but also by helping to sort out the club on a whole. Such a responsible man, well done Nigel.
whoareyaaa Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 He has don a super job since he came back in, I would dread to think where we would be without Pearson right now. The squad he has built is young and full of quality throughout, surely this season the club will get there rewards.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 You just know that ths haters are waiting to pounce on this

LcFc_Smiv Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 "I don't give a monkeys about what anyone thinks about my tenure here and how I do the job and my personality compared to other managers. "I know the job I do here is right for this club. This needed to be said in a radio or television interview. Any fan who dislikes Pearson will always bring up the boring personality argument, which in my eyes is first of all untrue, and completely irrelevant to his managerial qualities. His team selection and substitutions can be questionable (see previous two games) but we're still in a great position and having a good season to date. Good article though!
Mark_w Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Does he have to say that?Isn't it obvious to everybody now?
Dan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 This 'boring manager' reputation is just some absolute myth that lingers over him and it creeps up every time we lose. It's pretty well documented his media persona is nothing like his actual one (although I think you could say that for a lot of managers). Whilst his second reign here has often ended in frustration, no-one can seriously claim he hasn't progressed as a club - we have a better team who seem more bothered about actually earning promotion rather than being paid to delude themselves they're good enough to get it. We've binned off the over-rated and criminally overpaid mediocre crap, and we're still only a point from the top of the league. Considering the restrictions he's had especially this season, he's done a very decent job. He isn't faultless - but we aren't Bayern Munich. I'd be happy if we kept him on this year if we don't go up. Appreciate I'll get stick for that - but it's very easy to think by getting rid should we not go up, that we'll certainly improve. I mean, who's to say that a new manager won't take us backwards? It happened with Sousa. No-one guarantees success in this league and Pearson's as near as we are to getting to it. He'll get us there eventually even if it is taking longer than hoped.

hackneyfox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Well done NFP, you've done part of the job you're being well paid to do, should you not get promotion please don't slam the door on your way out. I'm pleased that he and the DOF have got rid of so much of the rubbish, hopefully they'll move them on permanently in January.
Dan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Far too easy to say. I'll be very disappointed if this season ends the same way as last year but I just worry knowing Leicester that we'll end up going round in circles should we sack him - and by circles, I mean a new man coming in, ripping up everything, not going up and being sacked as a result. Only time will tell, again.
hackneyfox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 I'm hopeful he knows what he is doing and we'll get promoted. Should we not then there is no way he should get another contract imo, even if we lose on penalties at Wembley.
seenitall Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Hmmmmmm- interesting that he says this as he has lost 3 of the last five (6 pts from 5 games is mid table form) and has a tough few games coming up. Sounds like a 'sack me at your peril' sort of story to a cynic like me
Monsell1976 Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Yes he has done a great job, reducing the wages and getting the deadwood out, but has he improve our league position come the end of the season?, a couple of places, and sadly football being football, when looking through the history books in the future, will he be judged on how he sorted the finances out, or what he won on the pitch. The time for talking is over, he again has put the team in a good position, and now is the time to achieve and I hope the bloke does it. Pearson is obviously feeling the pressure as he has reverted slightly back to his arrogants, which would be a shame, as not being a fan of his, I have found his interviews so far worth a listen, without arrogants and appreciative of the supporters. All this said I hope he has learnt, and he gets some money to invest in January and can finally get us over the line.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Perhaps he would if it were true. Yes, of course its highly likely that a manager was going to go on record to say that he had taken a club backwards. I mean, you read it all the time dontcha?
MooseBreath Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Isn't it funny after his "delusions of grandeur" rant at the fans that he now feels the need to praise himself over getting a club that historically lingers around the playoffs into the playoffs? While he seems to have improved our financial situation somewhat (though years later we still have our fair share of deadweight), he has hardly been revolutionary in the context of the long history of this club. Championship playoffs is slightly below our long term average. Failure to achieve promotion represents failure at this club, especially when your starting point was already top-10.

Championship playoffs is slightly below our long term average. Failure to achieve promotion represents failure at this club, especially when your starting point was already top-10. Pretty sure he said that during a period when he didn't have the type of squad he wanted? We were hardly lingering around the play offs when he first took us over and dragged us out of league 1 and into the play offs the following season. The squad hardly looked up for a fight when he took over his second time after Sven had spunked millions away (sorry not sven, the person in charge of signing off the deals). We had basically been a lower half championship side, going the way of Sheff Wednesday/Sheff United/Charlton when he took over. Now some people will be classing him as a failure if he doesn't get promotion to the Premier League. Which in a way shows what a good job he has done of changing the clubs fortunes around in his 2 stints as manager here. Love you Nige-bear!

Should we not then there is no way he should get another contract imo, even if we lose on penalties at Wembley. So, say we finish third and go out on pennos. You would rather get a new manager in, who would want new players etc, rather than giving someone another chance who had continuously improved us year on year? My aim is to keep improving our position, if you continue to do that then eventually you should get what you want. I'll be worried when we actually go backwards, we were slipping that way end of last year, but we've so far turned it around again.

We are likely to bring in new players anyway seeing as they are out of contract.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Anyone who would seriously want Pearson out this summer if he gets us into the playoffs has not learnt anything from history? When were we last successful? Under O'Neill's 5 year reign? How many managers have we had in our slide from the Premiership since? 11. Stability breeds success, look how we have improve from last year. We should only get rid of Pearson if we drop into the bottom half and give him at least 5 games to turn it round if we do (and its not going to happen)
MattyFromLE Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 I seriously don't know how Pearson is still splitting opinions. At present, he's the best man, and I feel only man for the job. He's responsible, sensible and the players obviously play for him. I wouldn't want it any other way at present and I really struggle why anybody would want anybody else in charge.
