kylestyle06 Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 A guy was speaking to a steward in L1 on Thursday, and apparently from next season the whole of L1 is going to be made to sit down? Can't see it happening but the steward was addament that it will be put in place? I personally can't see how they can make that mass of people sit ...
Jimmy Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 they can't even get a couple of rows at the back of the Kop to do it they are never going to get them in L1 to sit down
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 I'll be asking about this tomorrow too. I promise you/them they will lose me as a STH forever (or until rail seating occurs) I could imagine there being quite a brawl if they decided to do this unannounced.

Guest Bilo Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 They've wanted to do this for years but they've more chance of getting a blowjob from the Pope. The numbers are too big for the stewards to deal with, and I dare say Plod would have a thing or two to say about the amount of disorder the inevitably heavy-handed attempts would cause as well.
Captain... Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 What about if we are in the prem? Are the rules different, as in stricter and we are more likely to get fined for standing?

But ultimately the plod would be on side with the club. Leaving the fans helpless Same,I dont get what making us sit achieves? Total control and the sanitisation of the whole of the home end. Something they've craved for for years.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 But ultimately the plod would be on side with the club. Leaving the fans helpless Total control and the sanitisation of the whole of the home end. Something they've craved for for years. Yes and no. Obviously plod would prefer the block to be sitting down, but heavy handed attempts to get them sitting down would result in all sorts of unnecessary disorder. I doubt the police would be big fans of the LCFC hierarchy if they decided to effectively spark problems by wading into a block that, frankly, causes very few problems the way it is.
AndWhat? Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 The guys at the back have nothing to worry about. The guys in the first 10 rows of standing should be worried. If a steward asks you to sit or you lose your season ticket what you gunna do? Would love it if the fans put up a fight but I just can't see that happening.

jonthefox Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Might not be too far from the truth. http://web.orange.co.uk/article/sports/fans_behind_standing_at_matches A move to sk1 ?.
LCFC FOX Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Its really not that hard. They kept coming up and told us in N1 for about 5 games and that failed. You just have to refuse. I don't see why they can't just let it happen though. They will just lose more ST holders and the people who create the atmosphere. Without that Football is nothing and we lose matches.

They won't enforce it, they can attempt it but if it doesn't work what will happen? They just shut the block down, let no-one in that section for the next game etc?

I agree with your last bit. However, and I'm not easily told what to do by stewards, if they really mean what they say of course theyll put an end to it. Leeds away there's that Hitler style woman steward. Anyone not doing what she said was handed over to the cops. To think you can disobey them 100% and 100% of the time just shows your age
Guesty Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 If they did attempt it: if all L1 banded together and the next week went in and returned their season ticket and asked for a refund they might think twice (I'm not sure what the rules on refunds are). I guess it depends if people would actually stand up for what they believed in. A few thousand tickets at 400 odd quid off the books will not look good. People will say if we reach the Prem the club won't care; but I'd think they realise if the club only managed 1 season in the Prem the L1 STHs are people who'd stick with the club. I'm not sure why they'd try it in all honesty, like others have said L1 doesn't cause any problems at all and it doesn't make sense to alienate that many STHs.

They just shut the block down, let no-one in that section for the next game etc? Actually, this could happen if people continue to ignore club instructions. They probably have something up their sleeves.

But are they going to do it to everybody in L1, K1 and J3 that stands? Then they have to do it to everybody in the KOP and in N1 who is standing. They would lose a lot of money.

You can get your ST refunded at any point I believe. Youre refunded the amount depending on the number of remaining games. To be fair I'm always in two minds whether to renew or not purely down to financial reasons. If something official was announced before the early bird renewal cut off I'd definitely not bother. I'd feel hurt by it though. Forced out. A bit like how it'd feel being kicked out of your parents house I'd imagine- you want them to love you as much as you love them, but they don't. Yes they can get the police to come take you out and they can give you a ban. But are they going to do it to everybody in L1, K1 and J3 that stands? lavrentis Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Why do they even care so much? ****ing hell, can imagine them all planning ways to get everyone to sit down. ****ing hell, they are only standing up, get over it
purpleronnie Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 The club have to be seen to be implementing stadium rules.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 The problem with our stewards is they are all little hitlers who take it personally. The other year at Chelsea a steward asked me to sit down, then told I didn't have to sit if I didn't want to. As long as she'd been seen to ask people to sit down there wasn't a problem.
elangLCFC Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Imo we shouldn't blame the stewards, they have to enforce club policy if they want to keep their jobs. Instead we should look at people who actually make the decisions regarding this. Hopefully safe standing campaign finally wins the battle for standing soon
