MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 He didn't say they were, did he? He merely said they need to understand that sort of money isn't available for our players any more. Which implies that it still is now or was up until recently - which would need definite proof.
CosbehFox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Why do LCFC keep carting Wes out to the press? He's basically playing rent a quote at the moment. So maybe the club prefer him doing it rather than others. It's a typical game used by agents and the media. The media need stories and a discontent squad is more of a story than a happy one. Any player interviewed by the press is going to be questioned on it and expected to answer it. So it's really all 'expected'.
LCCFox96 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Billy Davies is a man who needs no invitation to bid - whether to unsettle or serious - so from a purely personal point of view Wes may have engineered this to his advantage by anticipating another bid after his comments to the media which means leicester will likely have to offer him a new contract or face the real risk (don't think forests bids in the summer ever stood a chance of being accepted) of loosing him back to forest. Seems a possible situation but I would hope for much better from our captain. Hopefully they all shut it about this soon. Understand there concerns and all but they must realise with a limited number(1-2 most likely) of additions between now and the summer they must realise most of them will get new deals anyway if we don't want to be left with the bare bones of a squad. We aren't the only club like this anyway.

We aren't the only club like this anyway. If they want to match his current salary at City ....good luck to them , maybe for that money we could sign somebody better...... Is Morgan true premiership quality ? , that we would need to build a team around ..... not sure Certain players at the club like Shit St Ledger aint worth 10% of their current wage , thats for sure
Foxes_Trust Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Id personally offer the key players the same wages they are on with it rising with promotion. Id take a transfer embargo if we kept our squad together, but loosing them for nothing would be a ridiculous step backwards. Even if it was just Wes and Kasper (Most valuable assets) If we stay in the Championship, none of the players who will be out of contract would be offered the same wage as they are on now, you would have to fill the bench with youth players to balance the books, remembering the FFP limits get even tighter next season, although the allowed loss would still be £3m, allowed owners investment drops from £5m to £3m, so £6m allowed overall
MattGamble92 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 I wonder if the players have certain wage increase clauses in their contracts if we were to go up? Could be a factor in whether the people "upstairs" want to renew. As much as i think it is wrong to leave players like Lloyd Dyer and Wes waiting for new contracts, the attitude of Wes is quite appalling. Surely it's easier to walk upstairs to speak to someone than blurt out to the media. Pretty sure he'll be playing in red next season
Jimmy Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 some prat on Facebook reckons Wasilewski is retiring at the end of the season, anyone seen anything on this?
Babylon Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Stringer seems to think there are signs of movement on player contracts which is good news if true. Or it could be his way of getting people to listen to his bulletin.

MooseBreath Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 If this does start to affect the players it'll be as much Wes' fault as anyone else's. Absolutely crap captaining. At this point I'd rather he wasn't offered a new deal. He has been average this season anyway, wouldn't cut it in the prem, and isn't getting any better, so of he wants to play these silly games then he can do it somewhere else imo

The way he has been behaving over the last few weeks has been shocking for a leader and captain.
ollielcfc Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 At the end of the day, we understand they're worried about their future, but going so public like this can only be a bad thing. Yeah, it may make the owners listen up, but he's ultimately criticising the club and it's operations. WHy on earth would they sign him to another contract if he behaves this way?
davieG Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Perhaps it's all subterfuge, smoke and mirrors set up by Pearson and the team to give the impression of disagreement, disarray and dissatisfaction in the camp to lull our rivals into a false sense of security at the thought of us imminently self exploding when in fact Nige, Wes and co are all sitting on nice contract renewals having a drink at laughing at the vision of Billy Davies getting all excited and red in the face at the thought of signing Wes & Nuge. One can dream

Corky Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 There must be an element on "mind games" about it. We've had the contract talk for a while now and we've continued winning games. Think it is time now for the club to let the players get on with the here and now, rather than talk to the press about contracts for next season etc.
RizLCFC Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 According to Ian Stringers twitter account, there has been some movement on the contract situation. Tune into 104.9FM at 1:30pm to find out what is going on.
MooseBreath Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Stringer: LCFC contract crisis exclusive - club confirms Microsoft Word, calibri font size 11 most likely to be used if and when contracts are drafted.
Babylon Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Stringer: LCFC contract crisis exclusive - club confirms Microsoft Word, calibri font size 11 most likely to be used if and when contracts are drafted. Rubbish... it'll be Arial, size 12.
Merging Cultures Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Rubbish... it'll be Arial, size 12. You can't beat Times New Roman 12 to make it look formal.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 I await an announcement at half two that Pearson's said he rang Morgan about it but his phone died and he couldn't find his charger.
Happy Fox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Ian Stringerâ€@StringerSport Pearson on contracts "I'm hopeful we can get some of the situation resolved. It's a balancing act in terms of the financial side"
