This Contract Situation

Of all the people out of contract I really only have Pearson down as someone who could compete in the Premiership.

Maybe that is what is worrying the players, as an individual you would know your abilities. Pearson has probably informed the powers that be of who he would keep, Schmeichel aside the rest are premiership squad players at best.

As a fan part of me would like to see players rewarded with a shot at the premiership should we get promoted. But thankfully Pearson, & those above him are not fans like me & can take the hard line decisions for the benefit of the club.

Our players will want their contracts improved considerably should we go up. However, with experienced premiership players out of contract too in the summer, we could get players in that have Premiership experience.

In the Championship this season our players have been good, but not always consistent. The premier league I feel will be a step too far for many of them.

The players can't expect a pay rise if we go up, they're already on premiership wages (Nuge,Kasper,Konch).

They can wait until the end of the season and for me only NP and Kasper need them extending now. IF we go up, not sure if the others are first eleven in the Premier anyway so are replaceable. Let's remember that Drinky, Knocky, Vardy,Moore and James are part of a good nucleus and will be here next year whatsoever anyway. Well done City for holding on until the summer I say

You mean championship?

Who has said that they want a pay rise?

Dole merchants.

I wouldnt expect them to want a payrise to be honest, unless we go up as champions, they would surely expect atleast what they are on now with an "avoid relegation" bonus?

It's perfectly normal for Wes to be concerned about his immediate future, I can't hold that against him.

What irks me however is the way he makes these comments even though Pearson's already told the media on a few occasions that it's clearly a matter which needs to wait until the end of the season and there's no point fretting about it now.  Of all the players in the team, you expect the captain to set an example and pay heed to what the manager's said, not ignore it completely.

He should but on the other hand as Captain he might feel or be under pressure from the other players as Captain and arguably their representative at the club the need to say something although i feel he's just responding to pressure from the media and his wife.

The media are always stirring shit up, of course the players don't have to answer the questions but obviously they want the club to know about the situation and they want it sorting, so I can't really blame them. If we lose the players it's our own fault isn't it.

Definitely our own fault...

But I've never understood why they even talk to the media regarding this.

when asked about the contract situation, instead of banging on about their family etc (I sympathise it's important, but it's obvious, and they are hardly strapped for cash)

Why can they just sayd when asked a contract question "I would prefer not to comment on that"

Simple.

Let the club deal with it, talking to national media is not a clever Idea in my opinion,

We all know the situation.

Don't add to it!

Just my opinion though..

but on reported wages of atleast 10k per week for most of our players... Hardly tear jerking stuff, they are in the championship leaders club, they can easily get a new club?

Is that too harsh?

Id personally offer the key players the same wages they are on with it rising with promotion. Id take a transfer embargo if we kept our squad together, but loosing them for nothing would be a ridiculous step backwards. Even if it was just Wes and Kasper (Most valuable assets)

You would take a transfer embargo? Really i just dont understand some people!

perhaps the idea is for certain players to force the club to give them another mind boggling contract....( which they cant due to Financial fair play rules )

......Then .........................stop trying on the field & sit in the comfort zone of the championship on massive money ..........

.................like last season;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

anyone else considered this ?

Im sick to death of certain players belly-aching to the Mercury tbf ..........................

Wes is not doing himself any favours atall, if he is bleating to the Mercury and using the "broken record" approach then NP needs to haul him over the coals imo.The reason I say this is his actions is compounding the unsettling of players, in truth I feel they are all sh*t scared about the FFP impact and ability to command the ridiculous wages certain people are allegedly on. I think this situation is actually good for us and the game in general.

"Leicester City have 10 players out of contract at the end of the season, including the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, David Nugent and Lloyd Dyer. However, Leicester boss Nigel Pearson is not worrying too much about the situation as the club push for promotion to the Premier League." Nothing we don't know, just a feature on Sky Sports.

of which none are un-replaceable , all 10 players need to understand the 30k a week days in the championship have ended ....

unless you play for QPR

I think Wes is quoted as saying 'you would think they might want to reward us for our achievements so far'. Sure we're top, but, dear Sir, we have achieved nothing yet. I'm pretty sure Nige will be reinforcing that point too.

When did they start?

Which of those players are on £30k a week exactly? Just curious. Repeating rumours and hearsay doesn't make it any more true.

I don't know the exact figures but I'm guessing the likes of Konchesky, Nugent, Kasper and St Ledger are very well paid.

Getting pretty bored of Wes Morgan what with his wife's ridiculous Twitter outbursts, and now him being quoted in local media. He's been half the player this season compared to last. He should get his head down and stop letting the Manager and the fans down with disruptive comments that help no one. He's hardly going to be left at the end of the season without a club is he? He's a good player who other clubs will want, in the unlikely event that we don't want him. It's very bratty behaviour in my opinion.

This.

Wes needs to button it.

He didn't say they were, did he? He merely said they need to understand that sort of money isn't available for our players any more.
