JohnnyB Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Looks like this story has been resurrected. Article mentions that Knockaert has recently signed a new contract - I don't remember seeing anything about that. See link below http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier-league-news/38344-newcastle-track-leicester-winger.php
JohnnyB Posted 14 January 2014 Author Posted 14 January 2014 "Sports Direct" Is sports direct bad? I've not come across them before, but thought it worth putting it out there anyway. To be honest, I'm most interested to hear more about whether he has signed a new long term contract.
Jugsi Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Sports Direct were one of the first on the Mahrez deal and obvious ties to Newcastle... I hope it's not true.
jimmer Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 "A number of players are now in talks over agreeing fresh terms at Leicester" Really?

To be honest, I'm most interested to hear more about whether he has signed a new long term contract. Sports direct is owned by Mike ashley, Who also owns Newcastle Wouldn't look too much into it to be honest, until a formal bid comes in, or other sources arise about it!
Walshy5 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Could explain why we've bought mahrez. Replacement maybe?
Corky Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Selling him now would be showing a lack of ambition. Why would you sell a key player in the midst of a promotion race?
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Could explain why we've bought mahrez. Replacement maybe? You never know do you, I think for the price we paid, it's well worth trying to hang on, and let him have a season in the prem..... If he shows his class there, we could well be on for a £10-15m bid.. but we'd probably have to let him go for about 4-5 now.. We need him, he can add so much when on form.
Jace Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 If the story was true it wouldn't be much to worry about anyway as it only says scouts were watching him
lgfualol Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Would be a step back selling anyone from the first team
Asherz Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Would be vVERY suprised if we let him go unless obv its a deal that means plenty of ££ ... Tbf tho i carnt see knockaert wanting to leave YET i imagine he would want to go up with us and see were we are in a few season before either progressing his career
Ric Flair Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Unless we got a bid in excess of £7-8 million then we'd not accept and I don't think he'd want to go just yet anyway.
Dan Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 To be fair I'd be surprised if they weren't interested.
pazzerfox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Why would he go to Newcastle...We are a much bigger club!
Out Foxed Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Is sports direct bad? I've not come across them before, but thought it worth putting it out there anyway. To be honest, I'm most interested to hear more about whether he has signed a new long term contract. Sports direct = click bait
dpjfox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Idoubt we would allow any first tesmer to leave, especially key players under contract
Callabinho Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 No one will go anywhere unless they're surplus to requirements, if you look back to previous table toppers how many of them allowed key players to leave in January? It won't happen not unless a truly ridiculous bid comes in.
Bryn Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Really? It does sound from the latest rumblings including Pearson's interview after Derby that contract talks have opened with a number of players.

dibbdroid Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 There are 'scouts' at every Leicester game, I know a father and son who scout for Sunderland, they go to at least three games a week and between them see Leicester a dozen times a year. Doesn't mean Sunderland will sign anyone.
sylofox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Moore yesterday Knocky today Waghorn 2moz tehn SSL and Gally Guess what 3 they can take?
Jobyfox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 "There are 'scouts' at every Leicester game" ---------------------------------------------------------- Yes, and every so often some Brownies and even Girl Guides.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Pitty Knockaert is French - if he wasn't they'd cross him straight off their target list. Can't see him going for reasons people have said. Key player and could be worth a lot in a year or twos time.
