Bluearmy 316 Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Fair play to konch has agreed to take a massive pay cut to stay with us what ever league we are in. I like him even more now best left back we have had in years. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Konch-pay-cut-stay-City/story-20496259-detail/story.html
Bayfox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Oh look another player signs. Take note media and qpr!!!!
NewquayFox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Fair play to him, maybe a couple more will follow his lead now....
RizLCFC Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I didn't mind him leaving in the summer at all, but after reading that he clearly loves playing for Leicester, and so I'm happy he's staying. If we go up, I'd still like to see us sign a better left back but I'd happily have him as back up.
Happy Fox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Well done Konchesky a vital cog in our defense yes he has his off games but he is a steady eddy and warrants a one year contract, someone that has played at the highest level is invaluable whether that be in the prem/ championship though I suspect we will bring in another LB which can do competition no harm.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 He was one of the high earners and was being overpaid, glad he has signed a new deal and shown his commitment by taking the necessary pay cut. Well done, good left back at this level and could still do a job in the Prem.
Russell sprout Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Great news, good for morale, let's be honest,at his age at this stage in his career, even with a big pay cut he would not have got a better offer anywhere else,it's good to see us dictating to players rather than the other way round.
KIRBYFOX93 Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Good move tbh. He was on silly money anyways 22k a week i think. So probs down to 10 k a week
Oxfordfox83 Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 He's been brilliant this year-great news...
cc_star Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Criticised Konch a hell of a lot last season, but he's been very good & consistent this season. Great news.
Ron Burgundy Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 fair play to him. I understand he was on nearly double that though kirby according to a wage slip in a car being valleted not so many months ago! (no more said on this subject). to be honest I've seen him as our weakest link in recent weeks but i do still like the player his commitment/passion are undeniable and you don't often see loyalty to a club like that these days so well done Paul. top man
Nick Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Surprised he signed a 1 year deal. Pleased for the team. Paul.
ronnup Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Better player than people give him credit for. And to be fair he's had enough big contracts to retire a rich man.
Stadt Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Fair play to him for taking a 'substantial paycut' but he's our weak link and certainly couldn't do a job in the premiership.
Banks Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Well done Paul if you're reading. Great news, another key player signed up. Just need Kasper, Nuge, and Dyer.

In some respects maybe and he's made the odd howler recently but his touch and passing (not crosses) up the left side has been excellent with Dyer and Drink and he's actually been a bit of a lynchpin. He has positional quality in abundance and would be a great left back to have on the bench if we made the Prem as a newly promoted club. Player with pedigree and class - sometimes you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

I'd go as far as to say his forward pass completion is less than 50%.
jimmer Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I cant imagine too many premier league clubs came sniffing and with FFP I very much doubt he would get anywhere near what he is on now with other champ clubs.....prob didn't have much choice about it TBF. At least this way he can try and prove he's still got what it takes and earn another.. edtit* and just for the record! I do like Paul, glad he's staying on, great deal for both parties..
fleckneymike Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I fail to see why he needs congratulations. He's currently grossly over paid (has been for the best part of 3 years), he's about to be unemployed so has decided to take a more realistic wage.

I'd go as far as to say his forward pass completion is less than 50%. Although not specifically stating forward passing and I wouldn't state my life on the reliability of this site but...... http://www.squawka.com/players/paul-konchesky-2#performance-score#leicester-city-(current)#football-league-championship#10#season-2013/2014#93#all-matches#1-26#by-match Suggests that he makes 78% of passes and most of them are over 20 meters - nigh on (5m short) the length of a swimming pool....... And they are not all back to the keeper!
