HitchinFox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The fact that this morning we have a point tally worth two Watfords hasn't been missed by someone on their forum - who's started a thread on it. The replies are hilarious. "This year the table is different, the points actually represent that amount of millions over the FFP threshold the team is." "I think the entire division would be happy if they went up this year. The rest of the league might get some coverage on the Football Leicester Show then." And my favourite: "Hand on heart I'd rather the way things have turned out WITH that memory (of Deeney scoring) from last year than us beating them 2-0 and winning at Wembley, we'll always have that, once in a lifetime moment, promotions come and go." Having said that, some are actually being quite nice about it. http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?50367-Leicester-now-have-over-double-our-points-tally&s=8c96299120a0e0eedf15c09bb4b40b44
foxfanazer Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 What a difference 8 months can make! It is hilarious that that Deeney goal is probably their highlight of supporting Watford for most of them. Definition of tinpot!
Bilbo Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 To be fair only a few of the posts on there are sour grapes, the majority of them are saying positive things about us.
Bert Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Says it all when one of their fans says "I hope you go on to make double figure back to back wins" Not realising that we'd have to beat them to get into double figure back to back wins. .
LCFC FOX Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Thank you Knockaert for missing that penalty, it made us a lot better
Babylon Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 They seem rather gracious about it all, although if they were up there challenging I'm not sure they would be. Like the guy saying we are obsessed... when he must have seen that thread on their board and then legged it here to see if we'd said anything.
MC Prussian Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 From top (and a game away from promotion) to mediocrity in less than a year. Football's a funny game. The loanee frenzy has somewhat faded, now they're realizing they can't just construct a team full of foreigners and expect them to beat everyone within a season only (just as we had to find out the hard way). It all comes at a price - last season's success has made them a bit self-congratulatory. A spectacular display like last season's will remain a rare occurrence in a club's history such as Watford's. Now it appears as if everything is going its regular ways again. Must be great being a Watford supporter these days. In the end, consistency is paying off.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Some fans still won't get up to speed on this 'debt' thing do they? Most of the clubs blathering on about it need to look at themselves before they start (incorrectly) pointing the finger.
Langston Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Couple of them have sand up their vadges but the majority seem fairly reasonable. I do love the obligatory ill-informed post on other side's forums bemoaning how much disregard we have for FFP based on spending three years ago whilst Pearson's shrewdness and cost-cutting off the field is conveniently forgotten - bit of research wouldn't go amiss but that doesn't comply with everyone's irrational hate of "big spending Leicester."
Saladin Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Can't wait to play them week on Saturday. Hope we rip them a new hole, like we did when we played them at their place
Super_horns Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Can't wait to play them week on Saturday. Hope we rip them a new hole, like we did when we played them at their place Play Kevin Phillips alongside Nugent and you probably will. Not sure anyone else has scored as many goals against us as those 2 have! You've kept the same squad and made improvements (be it new signings or getting players on form) whereas we've made ours worse somewhat! Although the performance at Man City proved there is some potential.
MrSpaM Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Really not sure where these teams are getting all this 'complete disregard for FFP' thing from, last I heard us, and about two other teams in the championship are the only one's complying with it! If anything the message that other teams should be getting is that it's possible to be successful in the league without splashing millions on transfers. Yes we spent a lot when Sven was in charge but that simply isnt the case now. To put it in perspective Birmingham who we played last night, have a player on their books that cost almost as much as our entire starting 11 combined!
Higgsy Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 With any luck there owners will get bored and leave and they will be left with a 3 sided stadium and languish in the lower league obscurity there fans deserve
Socks Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 really fvcks me off when fans of Watford or Forest have a go at us for spending money/getting out of it etc etc its just jealousy I remember when Florist were giving us a load of Abuse for being bought by the Thai's "your not english anymore" etc etc As soon as they got bought by a foreigner it all went strangely quiet Hypocrites Watfords problem is last years loanees was a big fvck up, I dont hold any grudge against them and I hope they beat those red twats tonight would love it!
VinceNoir Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 That's quite remarkable really. I definitely thought they would be up there this year, but it seems they may have relied a lot on Vydra last year. Apart from a minority of ****** who actually bothered to register on here just to take the piss in May, I have no opinion on Watford. They're just another team I want us to beat when we play them. Flying over for the game next Saturday, so I hope we can get the three points. Does anyone have a quick idea of how tickets are selling for that? I imagine we could sell plenty because of WWWWWWWW.
Ric Flair Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Watford's ploy of filling their squad with quality borrowed players very nearly worked last season and if they'd gone up then a lot of teams including us would have had sour grapes for exploiting a loophole. However, having a policy like that was never going to be sustainable long term and this season has shown that, when things have fallen apart rapidly. To be fair to Watford it's not as if they had already got a solid foundation of a squad so their decline isn't a surprise. We have under-achieved for several seasons now and finally we're seeing some positive and consistent football.

lgfualol Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I think most of the fans know we're abiding by FFP but it's about the only thing they can use as ammo against us. We have a perfect mix of players, most accepting lower wages to stay with us and running their socks off. Delicious jelaousy
CosbehFox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 This Watford model lark! What a complete cop out. How is having ten players sent to you every season going to help you build a team? There's always going to be a period of rebuild for them. We learnt this a couple of seasons ago. The Pozzo's use of Vydra tells you everything you need to know about where Watford FC is in their priorities.

You can't complain that the world and it's sister has some misconception towards Leicester's financial situation and FFP compliance and then post shite like this. Aside from Hogg (wanted to move up north to be near his family), Chalobah (because Chelsea are *****) and Vydra (because he wanted to play in the EPL), we have the same players from last season plus a few extra... That's three, probably a lower than average turnover rate - the way some fans (all clubs, not just Leicester) go on you'd have thought we loaned 11 people last season, none of those are at Watford anymore, and we have 20 different players instead Anya, Abdi, Ekstrand, Cassetti, Battocchio, Forestieri, Pudil all joined permanently, joined by some more, not replaced by some more. Also - congrats on seemingly romping away to the league title and promotion, you've bounced back astoundingly whereas we haven't but we'll get there eventually, I'm confident of that. We will be in line with FFP this year so how can any club moan about what we've spent this season? We've spent a fee on one player! If you want to moan at clubs regarding FFP, look at Forest. We are a debt free club by the way.

CosbehFox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 What? Idiot. Explain the model and say why it's going to lead to glory. Let's take the foreign part out of it, under Sven we signed all and sundry and it never worked. We signed 15 plus players and they never gelled. It's only now after a bit of wheeling and dealing, getting a squad slowly together over the past two and half years that we are here. Burnley another a good example. As for Vydra, Pozzo's should have first signed him as a Watford player and then passed him onto West Brom. Therefore Watford are duly rewarded for their development of Vydra and Udinese aren't the ones claiming the dough. Little worrying about Pozzo's complete ignorance of the youth teams and refusing to support the club into Category 1? Therefore allowing teams to poach your best youngsters at a small price.
