ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Daily Mail reporting the following. Hart Foster Ruddy Johnson Smalling Baines Shaw Cahill Jagielka Jones Henderson Wilshere Lallana Milner Gerrard Lampard Sterling Oxlade-Chamberlain Barkley Sturridge Rooney Welbeck Lambert wasn't phil jones on his way to hospital 5 days ago? is he sweet now? Tomorrow, 2pm GMT. nice one
Bryn Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Yeah Giggs said Rooney and Jones both carrying minor injuries but fit for WC.
Lionator Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Anyway, I think we now know who stitched up Woy over 'monkey-gate'.
whoareyaaa Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I think that's the worst defense in decades, Smalling is gaff
Soar Fox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Anyway, I think we now know who stitched up Woy over 'monkey-gate'. Jermaine Defoe?
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I wouldn't take Lampard either. better than carrick, cleverly etc. he won't play anyway. sub at best.
Bryn Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Lampard is an ok selection, in the sense that there's plenty of decent centre-mids in there and he is sort of coming along as a leader. It was either him or Carrick really and Lampard probably has more of a positive effect on the squad. Smalling is a woeful choice, I'd sooner have Forster and his CL experience than Ruddy (barely matters mind, having to take three keepers is ****ing stupid. Should be two and calling up emergency keepers should be permitted) and I think Wilshere is lucky to be in the plane.
sdb Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 We don't have any brilliant defenders (terry is best and he's a complete nob) so that part of the squad was always going to look wank. Let's hope Rooney plays better than he did in 2010. Although that shouldn't be difficult I can't help but feel he's past his best and pretty mediocre now.
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Ashley Cole â€@TheRealAC3 6m #Baines and #shaw are great players, proved this season, and are the future of this country, it was a pleasure to get #107 caps #eng # Ashley Cole â€@TheRealAC3 10m We have a great manager and team and I wish them only success. I will be supporting them like a true fan. Thanks to everyone for everything Ashley Cole â€@TheRealAC3 11m I got the call from Roy and agree England team should be about the young players. I think it best I retire from England team now.
Tielemans63 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I'd have taken Stones over Smalling. Stones might have 0 experience but Smalling is an absolute car crash of a defender.
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 i'd rather just have a 22 than 23 involving chris smalling
Tielemans63 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I take my Cole comments back - that seems a pretty dignified response to be fair to him.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I'd have taken Stones over Smalling. Stones might have 0 experience but Smalling is an absolute car crash of a defender. Smalling is an atrocious right back but a passable centre back. As long as he doesn't end up at right back it'll be fine.
Tielemans63 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Smalling is an atrocious right back but a passable centre back. As long as he doesn't end up anywhere near any World Cup game under any circumstances it'll be fine. Fixed it for you
Danno Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I'd have taken Stones over Smalling. Stones might have 0 experience but Smalling is an absolute car crash of a defender.A car crash . Rubbish.
Dan Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I'd have taken Cole over Shaw. I can forgive Hodgson for taking Shaw as by doing that he's proven that he is willing to risk playing youngsters, so good on him, however I think in a group where in my opinion we're going to be underdogs for two of the three games, it's a mistake not taking your best defensive left back - or maybe even our best defensive player. Glad Wilshere isn't going. My team would still be; Hart Johnson - Cahill - Jagielka - Baines Gerrard - Henderson Sterling - Barkley - Lallana Sturridge
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 think the starting XI picks itself now cole's not going. hart johnson, cahill, jags, baines gerrard, hendo sterling, rooney, lallana (swap amongst themselves at will) sturridge plan b is an interesting one though. no idea. and like hansen/shearer just said what on earth are we going to do if baines gets injured. cry.
Dan Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Play Shaw? What even is our squad? I've not even seen it. Just been assuming it's what you'd expect minus Cole.
kingfox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Sky Sports News â€@SkySportsNews 5m Sky Sources: Tottenham's Kyle Walker has been told he hasn't been selected for England World Cup Squad. #SSN
One Legged Beaver Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Sky Sports News â€@SkySportsNews 5m Sky Sources: Tottenham's Kyle Walker has been told he hasn't been selected for England World Cup Squad. #SSN That just about confirms your back up right back is going to be Smalling doesn't it?
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Play Shaw? What even is our squad? I've not even seen it. Just been assuming it's what you'd expect minus Cole. nothing official yet bar cole saying he isn't going. journos saying this and that but none of what they are claiming on twitter to be massive exclusives are either official or surprising really. we need to defend for our lives to get something against italy and uruguay and we're relying on someone younger than me who's had one decent season for southampton. when we've got one of the best left backs to ever play the game sat on his arse at home.
