Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 well now you've shown me a clip of him playing in a friendly a year ago, giving away a penalty and playing a decent pass i am FULLY convinced he will lead us to world cup glory If you watched the match then you would know that he was the best player on the pitch against Brazil. Whereas Henderson has never had a good game for England. Started against France and looked out of his depth. Started against Denmark and looked average at best.
ScouseFox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 well then i guess it depends on whether you value two years of competitive football above or below one or two friendlies.
Langston Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Wilshere's a really odd case, for me. When he first appeared on the scene I recall flashes of absolute brilliance and a real ability to glide past players with the ball at his feet akin to Gascoigne, I've no idea if injuries have had an effect on how he plays the game but his recent England performances seem to follow the same basic structure of : - Receive ball - Run into somebody - Fall over - Whinge He's still only 22 and I'm convinced he's got the natural ability to go a long way in the game but I think it's a Michael Owen type scenario and the kid is going to be perennially broken throughout his career. Arsenal trying to rush him back before the 11-12 season was the worst possible thing they could've done to him. He's a decent player but at the moment he's more than dispensable, and considering all the argument about valuing form over name, trying to make a case against Henderson that's pro-Wilshere is about impossible at the moment, I'm enjoying watching Pride of the Midlands try though.
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Tony Gayle thinks Ross Barkley has to go the World Cup, thanks for that Tony.
Stadt Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Tony Gayle thinks Ross Barkley has to go the World Cup, thanks for that Tony.He did go on to say that he should start, which I agree with.
kingcarr21 Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 Is anybody worried about Phil Jones possibly not being available for the world cup? If he is injured who would you take to replace him?? Perhaps Flanagan or Stones could be in with a shout
MC Prussian Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 Who are you going to play as right-back, after Johnson's calamities last weekend (and beyond that)?
Corky Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 Tony Gayle thinks Ross Barkley has to go the World Cup, thanks for that Tony. He's a professional Cockney, surely he'd want Brave Scotty Parker to go as well?

Fox92 Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 Is anybody worried about Phil Jones possibly not being available for the world cup? If he is injured who would you take to replace him?? Perhaps Flanagan or Stones could be in with a shout I didn't want him to go anyway.
Grandad. Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 He's a professional Cockney, surely he'd want Brave Scotty Parker to go as well? Oh yeahhhh, he won FWA Player of the Year once before you know, because he stood out in a really poor team who won 7 games all season! On the right back debate, I have said all season Glen Johnson is a useless piece of shit, honestly think if Jose Enrique was fit then Flanagan would of been our first choice right this year. Shame that hasn't happened. Johnson will go as first choice right back and maybe Flanagan will go if Walker isn't fit. Always said I would take only one right back to begin with as I would rather take another attacking option. We find the squad out on Monday don't we?
kingcarr21 Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 yea the provisional squad will be announced on monday. not sure when we will get the final 23 man squad. Im really starting to worry that wilshere and smalling will find a place in the squad. It will be an absolute joke if they make the final 23.

Isn't Hodgson letting all players know if they're in the 23 man squad though from the start? Surely the 7 players on standby are going to let someone know and it will be leaked.
kingcarr21 Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 i dont know i hope so. Go straight for the 23 man squad and be done with it.
Grandad. Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 i dont know i hope so. Go straight for the 23 man squad and be done with it. Yeah I'm pretty sure that is what happening, think Hodgson said all of this on that 'Footballers Football Show' with Gary Neville and Glen Hoddle. All 30 players who go to Portugal will know if they're in the 23 man squad or not.

The only thing Jack Wilshire has in common with Gascoigne is a suspected Coke habbit.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I hope we take Chris Smalling I think he's dead good.
Dan Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I see Greg Dyke's announcing the findings of the inquest into the state of youth development in England at 2pm. That could be interesting.
RonnieTodger Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I'm really not comfortable with Jagielka starting. Even less so, after his injury.
The Doctor Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 Excuses already in place: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-27343057 "If players and coaching staff were hoping for milder and more favourable conditions for their remaining matches, it looks more likely that they could be disappointed," said Dr Klingaman. He estimates that temperatures around Rio could increase by around one degree C. A whole degree C? Poor darlings.
Stadt Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 So that's the reason why Scotland didn't qualify, none of the players were used to playing at above 7°c.
johnny the fox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Is this the worse squad we have taken to a world cup in living memory?
