Carl the Llama Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Nah, you're alright thanks. http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Longton-businessman-hold-key-keeping-Gordon-Banks/story-20568642-detail/story.html Fvcking hell it's not even an issue. Â It's just a small newspaper trying to boost sales by drumming up controversy. Â They only got 200 people to actually give a shit about their statue petition - I think that says it all.
ollielcfc Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 The actual problem here is that we just don't have even one statue. When it was the Walkers' Stadium we had banners in the corners and around the top of the ground with pictures of club legends and famous moments - they're all gone now. We could do with one in each corner, or even just one outside the City Fanstore for now, just so we can celebrate legends and popular players who have played in the mighty blue and white.
indierich06 Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 I'm starting a crowd-funding campaign to get a 100ft sculpture of this made for outside the fanstore: Â Â Lest we forget.
Itsthejoeker Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Why does he have to be a Leicester fan to have a statue?
MrSpaM Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 How the hell can Stoke be 'in an uproar' when it's been rotting in a school corridor for the past god knows how many years?!? Â Are they going to put it back outside their ground then? NOPE!
Spudulike Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Why do Stoke want a statue at their ground that reminds them of his time at LCFC ??
Itsthejoeker Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Why does this have to be a competition at all? We should be honouring him, not fighting over who he supports/where he was most successful.
Kitchandro Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 If Banks wants it in Stoke and they don't want it let it stay in the school and let's get our own statue made of another Leicester legend in Rowley. He's the clubs record goal scorer for ****s sake. Stick Lineker next to him as well and be done with it and have two generations of goal scorers side by side. Â Â Â This is not a bad idea. I was all for the Banks one being here instead of gathering dust. However if he want's it in stoke then leave well alone. A battle over it seems petty. Our record goal scorer (never to be broken) along with one of our own, old jug ears is not a bad idea. Â Arthur Chandler is our record goalscorer though, Arthur Rowley is the football league's record goalscorer.
dynamark Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 The answer is a statue of Conrad Logan long serving hundreds of squad selections, sittng down obviously .let very few goals in,no issues with anyone in the future not recognising him because no one now will know him either.Simple
fuchsntf Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 6 statues, 1 each at the curved corners of the ground. 2 Statues at approach to the offices..... Of Who you may ask. 1. MAT GILLIES. 2.JIMMY BLOOMFIELD. 3. MARTIN O'NEILL. 4.Empty podest waiting for the next top manager, hopefully NP. 5.Gordon Banks, simply cos he is the most successfull Leicester city player .> make a new one, let stoke keep theirs < 6. Money..0.5% of transfer fees. 1 pound from single ticket sales, from 1st 6 home games back in the Premiership. Donations.

Iwan is a Welshman Posted 7 February 2014 Posted 7 February 2014 Bit early for a Martin one but agree with this point. This club has loads of heroes and they need celebrating. Gillies, Bloomfield, Chandler, Rowley, Smith, Cross, Banks, Worthington, Weller. The list goes on..
80footgiraffe Posted 7 February 2014 Posted 7 February 2014 I've always liked the idea of a small museum at the ground. Â Rumours about it when the fanstore reopened, never materialised. Shame Â

fuchsntf Posted 7 February 2014 Posted 7 February 2014 We can't even get our shit together for one.Has any city fan group ever asked....??? Nicely. One can start with a memorabilia museum....A pearl starts as a small grain, a future hurricanes ferocity begins as a first waft Of a butterflys wing, battlecat began life as a fluffy pussy... ....ah grasshopper, you still have far to travel to gain the breath of wisdom, but not to forget grasshopper, to realise our desires and make truth out our dreams, start a lobby over radio leicester.

There were plans to have a museum when the stadium was being built but Administration put an end to it and unfortunately the club lost many artifacts loaned to them by fans, in fact you could say they totally ****ed up.
Foxes_Trust Posted 7 February 2014 Posted 7 February 2014 Although DavieG is correct up to a point in saying "many artifacts were lost", the efforts of the both sadly departed Jack Curtis and then Christine Smeaton (who stored at her house for a considerable period) saved loads of historically relevant items. Â John Hutchinson has then put in many years work recording, cataloguing and taking photos of every item. Â Plans for a physical museum are fully costed, if we are promoted into the Premiership, it significantly improves the chances of these plans being signed off and the museum being created. Â The Trust made a commitment to Christine Smeaton many years ago, that we would continue to have the creation of a physical museum as one of our objectives and John is aware that if the go ahead is given, that several Trust members want to help

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 A statue of our greatest ever player is long overdue. Stuff bronze, it should be made of solid gold!
