DeclanMC Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Objectors are said to include Leicester, Blackburn and QPR http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/26/financial-fair-play-clubs-threat-football-league?CMP=twt_gu
johnny the fox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Quite right! we should be allowed to spend spend spend as much as we like. blow the lot,.even down to our underpants.
Jimmy Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 was only a matter of time, it amounts to restraint of trade, only rule should be owners cannot loan the money they must give it to the clubs
Jace Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 FFP breaks European competition law as soon as clubs start appealing I can't see it upholding any longer unless big changes are made to the rules
Bayfox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 This will be seen as a test case. Before the big boys challenge uefa. you can't tell people how they can and can't spend their cash.
Webbo Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 If you've ever had a firm go bust on you and gyp you out of the money you've earned, through no fault of your own, then you might be a little bit more sympathetic to what the League is trying to do.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Would be nice seeing a statement from the club clarifying their position here. As a fan, irrelevant of the effect it may have on our business model, I'm in support of anything that tries to curve the excessive finances underpinning the game. I'd rather see my club speak out in favour legislative changes I'd like to see happen (like safe standing) than on issues which try to take the game closer to its roots. Saying that, it says "Championship sources" revealed our involvement. Can't imagine the club are delighted to have been revealed as an objector. Plus, from a business perspective, I'd rather not be branded alongside QPR at all.
ARTY_FOX Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 From that I got. We dont know who it is but it must be leicester because they are rich. Plus in our position would we be a club who are worried by FFP? Nope
Guest MattP Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Why on earth would we stand next to QPR to argue something like this? Last thing I want is the nation looking at us two in the dock together.
Corky Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Anything that encourages clubs to live within their means and have a sustainable model is required, whether that adversely affects us or not.
FuriousFox46 Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Given all the efforts we've put in to aligning with the rules and given the (hopefully) £90m we're 'expecting' in May, I seriously doubt we're involved.Lazy journalism. It's easy to link 'big-spending' Leicester to this.
Ashley Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I seriously doubt we are involved I'm sure the club said we(Leicester) fully expect to meet FFP this year at the Fans Meeting?
yorkie1999 Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 This will be seen as a test case. Before the big boys challenge uefa. you can't tell people how they can and can't spend their cash. But you can stop people spending cash they haven't got, that's what the problem in football has been, but uefa has decided to lump everyone in the same boat, they think its unfair that some clubs have money and some have to borrow to keep up.
DeclanMC Posted 26 February 2014 Author Posted 26 February 2014 While I agree with FFP, the club have probably thought that regardless of trying to comply (which we are) it's worth spending some money on a legal challenge that might come good for us.
Finnegan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Why on earth would we stand next to QPR to argue something like this? Last thing I want is the nation looking at us two in the dock together. My feelings exactly, I'm a bit disappointed by this. I don't think we deserve to be a shining example of positive club management but at the same time we seem to be taking genuine steps to conform to FFP and run ourselves sensibly. QPR are just straight up pissing in the face of the fa, the rules, all common sense and good business practice.
davieG Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Surely if 20 clubs voted for it with 3 against in a democratic way following their own FL rules what's the argument against it.
Jace Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I have to admit its affect on us has been fantastic even though its unlikely to be upheld the way the club is run now financially is how the club should have been run in the first place when the new owners took over
Bert Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I seriously doubt we are involved I'm sure the club said we(Leicester) fully expect to meet FFP this year at the Fans Meeting?Correct
Jimmy Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I seriously doubt we are involved I'm sure the club said we(Leicester) fully expect to meet FFP this year at the Fans Meeting? doesn't mean we wouldn't fight it in the courts whilst making sure we don't fall foul of the rules whilst they are in place
cjslcfc Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Utter bollocks. The way we've gone about business this season far from suggests we are the team to spearhead a challenge against FFP. Lazy lazy journalism
jamesmilner Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I seriously doubt we are involved I'm sure the club said we(Leicester) fully expect to meet FFP this year at the Fans Meeting? we are definitely involved . we will meet ffp this year because we HAVE to and have no choice or face consequences. ie fines , transfer embargos . why would we not be involved ? would be a stupid move to not oppose ffp , " speculate to accumulate" . the promised land is all that counts and in football like the world alike , you get what you pay for !
Babylon Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 The clubs involved are not even named in the letter, so how exactly is the "championship source " going to know. Seems to me they have just picked the clubs who posted big losses in their last accounts. I could see us opposing on the basis of it limiting what we can spend next year trying to stay up.

QPR are just straight up pissing in the face of the fa, the rules, all common sense and good business practice. We have taken steps, but only to a certain extent, while Danns, Gallagher, Nugent, Schmeichel, SSL & maybe Schlupp and others awarded contracts are here, we'll be throwing up huuuuge losses. Higher up, we see that even likes of Chelsea needed to sell Essien & KDB to bring in players, ManUtd will have to sell Vidic to bring in a big name CB & so on & on as even the biggest clubs won't be able to collect players so the bigger players will be spread around more clubs, this will obviously trickle down too. If we were that bothered about complying we'd have sold Schmeichel to Hull, Morgan to Forest & Vardy to Southampton, as it is we're still running up the overspend, just at a lesser rate than under previous management. Like mentioned above of owners want to run up huge debts and make money off loans & interest they should have to 'give' the money
MattFox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 The club who are probably most likely to mount a legal challenge and who have been singing from the rooftops that they think ffp won't get through court are not even listed. Shoddy journalism
