XLM Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 So much pressure is on QPR every time they play. I can see us being up mathematically against Brighton to be honest.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 A good proportion of this thread demonstrates well how some fans from one club perceive certain managers of other clubs. In this thread, (and in other threads too), numerous disparaging comments have been made about QPR and about Redknapp in particular. Others have joined in, such that any real debate has become lost amidst all the piss-taking. As far as I can see the issues have been as follows: 1. That QPR should have romped the league.. Well I think it's been shown time over that that's not how it works. Money doesn't always bring success. Sven epitomised this during his time at Leicester. Pearson, on the other hand, has built a solid, enthusiastic young squad and has cut the wage bill substantially. Redknapp himself has said that he had to radically re-arrange his squad when he came in. He has offloaded many players and has brought many in an an attempt to get the right blend. There IS an argument, given the mess the squad was in, that QPR and Redknapp could have fallen completely out of contention this season. They haven't. 2. Charlie Austin... Many have said that Ings at Burnley has been a sensation and that his injury was a major blow to how they would play and their chances. The same empathy, of course, was not afforded to Redknapp and Austin, although it is blatantly clear that losing their best striker has adversely affected them. 3. That Redknapp has 'lost the plot' and may well finish outside the play-offs...well as far as I can see this hasn't happened and again demonstrates how some posters will jump at the chance to put the boot in, then refuse to accept that they may have jumped too soon and that Redknapp signing Ravel Morrison when he did, could prove to be an inspired bit of football management. Unless I'm wrong, I can't see also that Morrison has proven to be a bad lad off the field. It appears that Redknapp has got him under some sort of control. I have often been accused of defending Arry Redknapp in some sort of love-in. As I've often said, I don't dislike the man, but have no affinity for him. Of course, this too has been ignored. People seem to have made their mind up on Redknapp and QPR, such that any discussion of them becomes meaningless because it's lost in the general dismissal. Personally, I think they have been under immense pressure to perform, have had their ups and downs but that, given all their circumstances, Arry hasn't done too bad a job. If they finish third and go up via the play-offs, he would have done a pretty good job at a club that could have sunk like a anchor, given all the big-time Charlie's that Redknapp inherited, most of whom were on astronomical wages. If however, they don't go up, I think Arry should bow out gracefully and let a younger bloke come in with fresh ideas. Finally, no they won't catch us. Their run of poor results has all but finished their hopes of Automatic promotion. A bit like us and Nige last season, though too that gets conveniently forgotten.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Good post Col Joking aside he isn't a bad manager at all he just likes signing 350 players every transfer deadline They QPR are the only realistic team than can stop us getting automatic promotion now, although I have to say if we don't get promoted it will only be our own fault ultimately from this great position we are in already I tried to "preach" to the forum weeks ago now that we aren't promoted yet and to keep things calm and on a level and I ended up being accused of all sorts Ultimately we all want the same thing. Leicester to get promoted

Money doesn't always bring success but you have a very good chance. If you have the right strategy to sign players you'll do ok. Sven just seemed to sign anyone then put in ridiculous bids at the last minute to sign even more players. He failed. 2. Losing Austin is a big blow, but the back ups aren't good enough it seems. Conversely, Burnley lost him at the start but have been fantastic because their back-ups have performed. 3. No doubt Morrison was a good signing, but it helps when you are afforded the chance to sign plenty of players before getting one right. He's got one that looks promising and should see them into the play-offs (which they were never dropping out of). That wouldn't have been forgotten if Pearson hadn't learned from it, strengthened the squad, improved the mentality and also changed his own ways. He's been more approchable to the media, open with the fans, flexible in trying out new formations, playing players in the correct positions and being very sensible with his signings. He hasn't changed his approach mid-season either, we still create plenty of chances per game and look threatening, whereas last season we inexcusably decided to be negative. Redknapp has the resources available to get promotion and should do so. Maybe some of us were expecting more than 47 goals in 38 games and that they, with the great man in charge, would have enough to see off the challenge from the rest.

Exactly why I opened the thread, too much psss taking, and some, not all just some fans were missing the point.City and Burnleys great unbeaten runs, plus QPR themselves had a injury prone ,drastically poor run, but still with quality players to chose from. That is why we should compliment Dyche and Pearson, and is no mean feat, what consistency, we both have shown. Basically I wanted to hear fans respect what the management and team have achieved over this season. There was/is in some areas, forgetting the light banter, too many negative posts, when actually going through great spells. IMO you support your team, and not try and drag up, out all negatives.FFS the management and coaching staff get partly payed to worry, and produce the performances, that abate our fears, and tickle our dreams. As a sports fan we should relax and enjoy football for what it is entertainment, losing or drawing doesnt mean we played poorer, it part of the fun. I just chucked in the thread out of devilment.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Arry' has had a really hard job considering that he had a lot of already above championship level quality players and also had infinite funds. But he got his head down and he worked at it even with his underdog status he still prevailed.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Wherever he has been he has always had plenty of money to spend, chairman always seem to grant him the funds and in Portsmouth's case it cost them dearly. These chairman can always say no to him when he wants to bring in new players. He should of stayed at Spurs, he did well there and they could afford to stump up the cash for the players he wanted, unlike as I mentioned before Portsmouth and QPR, who could be in trouble if they fail to go up. Another thing I don't like is signing players who demand a clause in their contract that if the club go down they can move on, Taarabt and Remy for instance, get the club relegated but are not willing to help get the club back up. If QPR do go up will these players be back playing for them next season? They obviously consider themselves above championship football, and I do realise finances maybe are responsible, but where is the team unity? The whole ethic of being a team is destroyed.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 When I left the pub wiv 'Arry larst nite, the guv said to tell you all the wotch out. He's comin' to get us! The geezer was happy, and he said "Them Foxes is gonna fall apart on the bleedin. run in. They're gonna bottle it D.T., so get ready to wear a black arm band mush" Well, 'Arry, sorry mate, but that ain't gonna' happen geezer. , no bleed'n way.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Wolves 2002, 11 points clear of 3rd with 6/7 games to go. Ended in the play offs , then got beat and stayed down. 11, not 13 with a game in hand.
kingcarr21 Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 11, not 13 with a game in hand. dont forget wolves are s**t
iancognito Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I think if you have a balanced view here, there's been very few times where two teams had amassed 80ish points at this point in the season. QPRs current tally of 69 isn't too bad and would normally be enough for them to be in the top 2 by this point. They've had both a bad run themselves and two teams on amazing stretches ahead of them. Harry's not really failed at QPR, just had two great teams to contend with.

I've said before that I've no particular liking for Redknapp, and I think he has a lot to answer for with what happened at Portsmouth. But he took over QPR when they were rock bottom of the Prem and saddled with a load of expensive no-hopers signed by Hughes. Expectations that he could rescue them were far too high, and it was no surprise that they were relegated. But when they were relegated, they were below both Reading and Wigan - 11 points behind Wigan - and this season, neither of them has been above QPR. On that basis, Redknapp has not done a bad job. Sure, he signed some seriously average players, but he also signed Austin - which was brilliant. And I also think that signing Morrison on loan was a shrewd gamble. All-in-all, he's not done a bad job - and a better job than a lot of my QPR mates give him credit for. I don't think they will win the playoffs, but being in third place at this time of the season was not a given for them, and they are still in with a chance.
foxfanazer Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 They've left it far too late for automatic promotion. Will be strong playoff opposition though
Saxondale Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 "Leicester can still be caught" says Redknapp. Probably. Ooh, injuries, referees, bad luck, etc.
MC Prussian Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Wolves 2002, 11 points clear of 3rd with 6/7 games to go. Ended in the play offs , then got beat and stayed down. And that scenario has taken place how often exactly in the past couple of decades?

Guest Col city fan Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 Rubbish.. This has been another interesting thread in which I've given the opposite side of the coin to the Arry haters. To much mirth and merriment from my fellow FoxesTalk brethren. But I can take it, in fact I relish it. It's better to stir up debate (nicely...) than to constantly go with the status quo! Now...cmon you baggy eyed sod, get promotion and I'm quids in!! lol

Danizen Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 Good points, Col. ... he signed some seriously average players, but he also signed Austin - which was brilliant... Yeah. Redknapp showed all his managerial nous to sign the league's top scorer for a huge fee when his club was already in the shit, financially. Well done, 'arry!
