Guest Col city fan Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Well our lads seem to care about the club a hell of a lot more than the QPR ones..Do you think that if Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal etc came in for Danny Drinkwater, offering him three times his salary and European Football he'd not leave City?Feet wouldn't touch bruvver.. feet wouldn't touch. IMO. Ignore this nonsense about footballers not being in it for the money. They all are. Even we do it. Have we not just signed Albrighton because we are, allegedly, offering him a better contract than Villa? What's that if it's not money? However, have any of us said 'oooooh that's wrong! Why should we get a player from another club because we are better off than them'? Any of us? Nah.. most have just laughed, or quietly accepted it. Football and footballers are about money. If they weren't, Paul Gallagher would rip up the remainder of his contract with us and go and play for Preston on a third of what he gets at Leicester. If he does so, bloody good on him. Do people think he will?

SeattleShane Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Funnily enough, it seems like clubs of that like came in for Kasper and he turned them down for us... I read that he accepted terms at Southampton.
Dan Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 OK, my thoughts on them. They clearly had the grit and mentality to actually turn up where it mattered most, I will not take that away from them. But anyone acting like it's an impressive achievement really are deluding themselves. Their transfer policy is absolutely suicidal and the fact that it's actually prevailed is a bad thing for football in general. Do I feel threatened by them? Why would I? I'd bet anyone we finish above them next season.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 WELL DONE QPR ON ACHIEVING THE VERY BARE MINIMUM OF WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF YOU.
MC Prussian Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 The point is not ALL footballers are like that. If only the blind could see. If only. Do people think he will? Colin, I know it's hard to accept but there's actually a sportive element to playing football. Otherwise, what's the point in proving yourself on the local or national or even international scene when you don't bother playing against the best and try to win trophies and titles? I've said it a few times that I do acknowledge money being a huge motivator - in particular, when you have to provide for a family or pay off your gambling debts. But it isn't the sole one.

Do people think he will? I appreciate the Drinkwater and Gallagher scenarios and what you're saying is right - money is a huge factor - but from the outside looking in our club is being run the right way, our boys have more passion about the club (see goal celebrations all year for instance), better interaction with the fans, and less arrogance and seeming nastiness (see players like Assou-Ekotto, Barton, etc - would you want to see them play for your club?) I'm not wording this very well but there's a lot I intensely dislike about QPR and I think at the moment, our club is the opposite. Under Sven, we were similar, and that is why I would've disliked us under Sven as a neutral.

I agree with everything you say here and yes, I'd much rather our club be run this way. I believe that LCFC is now under the best stewardship it's been for years and that this underpins any success we have had and will have.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Harry has done an awful job with QPR this season. I'm just hoping he doesn't turn it around next season. Harry has done an awful job with QPR this season. I'm just hoping he doesn't turn it around next season. Rubbish!" He has taken QPR to the Premiership, which is what he is paid to do. Hrdly"awful" The real problem with posters on here, is their dislike of 'Arry and QPR. Tht's the truth of the matter.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Funnily enough, it seems like clubs of that like came in for Kasper and he turned them down for us... How do you KNOW this? The fact is, you DON'T.
foxfanazer Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Don't dislike Harry at all, not so fond of QPR. They should've been promoted far more comfortably than they were, nobody can deny that. It would've been nice if they failed if only to discourage clubs form taking the 'throw enough shit and some will stick' approach. Would've preferred to see Derby go up, they deserved it overall
Babylon Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 The reason I bet on QPR pre season... was because they were massive favourites and spent feck knows how much.
Guest MattP Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 So let me get this right? To make a point and to distract away from some of the turd you have posted about Redknapp and QPR in recent months, you trawl back for a post that was made OVER A YEAR AGO, when QPR had had a stinky run, ending in relegation. Do you really take the forum so seriously as to want to do that? The reason I bet on QPR pre season was because I thought Arry would turn it round. I admit it was close, but the cigar has been smoked. Tell you what, look back another three years or so for another gem! Cmon mate.. broad shoulders and all that.. To be fair mate I only found it as I was going through the Pearson Out thread posted in the new contract one and it was too good not to post! I just wish I had found it a few weeks ago when you were saying he did a good job compared to Hughes! Congrats on the bet anyway, enjoy the winnings.
Soar Fox Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 You must have had a big wedge on them going up Col, as the odds surely weren't that great. What were the odds on them getting promoted?

blueonyou Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 As a side note, atleast now QPR are promoted the media are all over them, takes the limelight and pressure of us. Sky have already began their QPR and Harry w4nkfest

Ric Flair Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 You must have had a big wedge on them going up Col, as the odds surely weren't that great. What were the odds on them getting promoted? Pretty sure it was skinnier than 2/1
Guest MattP Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Pretty sure it was skinnier than 2/1 Promotion was 7/4 max then moved into around 11/10 as they signed Austin, Kranjcar etc. They were as short as that for the title in late August.
MC Prussian Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 You must have had a big wedge on them going up Col, as the odds surely weren't that great. What were the odds on them getting promoted? Ladbrokes had them at 11/2 to win the title last August, then at 5/2 for promotion in late April.

fuchsntf Posted 27 May 2014 Author Posted 27 May 2014 By reading the last 360+ posts and " col city fan's" wise words, it seems my use of the word " haunt", when starting this post, seems to have confirmed my thoughts, especially that any negative thoughts on QPR prove the point.Like a bad dream.....Harry keeps turning up. Now they are going to follow us into the PL, and make no predictions, because QPR will be a different side next season. Crystal palace and QPR grounds are not happy hunting grounds for city, so to stop the haunting...NP has to lead his Ghostbusters, to fight off the large marshmellow man and the golems of the PL.
