JJS84 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Can anyone who went to the game advise how he did? The write up's suggest he did well.
rico Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Looked comfortable on the ball and crossed superbly for Nugent, who really should have buried his header
JJS84 Posted 1 March 2014 Author Posted 1 March 2014 Sexually? Not really sure what to take from that.
jonthefox Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Looked to me as though he'd been playing all season. Not electric, but very, very good.
Stuliasz Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Just slotted in to the team like he's been here for years. Fit the profile of our current playing style perfectly. Only glimpses of his dazzling footwork, but otherwise a solid part of an excellent team.
Bert Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 He was good. Stuck to his job well. Good with both feet and very good on the ball.
JJS84 Posted 1 March 2014 Author Posted 1 March 2014 Glad to hear it. Has Nige got a selection headache when Lloyd's fit or is Lloyd now fighting to get back in the team?
abdulla the fox Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 To be fair that Charlton team were possibly the worst team we have played against in years. But he seemed alright
Stadt Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 I was impressed with his workrate as well, often tracked back and didn't shy away from tackles.
ramadaone Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 I was impressed with his workrate as well, often tracked back and didn't shy away from tackles. Totally agree - it is that side of the game that will impress NP the most I reckon
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 He offers a different game to dyer him and knocky switched sides regularly and was ruthless , skill full helps defend very good end product, this is a player to watch
TrentFox Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Thought he struggled to get in the game in first half, apart from one terrific piece of skill to set up a header for Nuge. He grew into it second half. I thought he looked way more effective when he got to play more centrally on occasions than ever he did out wide.
Unabomber Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Didn't see much of the ball, but when he did I'm pretty sure he didn't give it away.
Lionheart Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 As much as I love Lloyd he is a limited player,Mahrez has been bought specifically to take Dyers place for when we go up,far better all round player than Lloyd.
nuttytimmy Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 As a previous poster has already said, Mahrez didn't look like a player on debut, he looked like he'd been working with the lads for years. Slotted in very well, great skill and awareness, good positional play and not bad in defensive play either. Real potential there.
Babylon Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Was ok... But not a patch on how Dyer has done for most of the season. Technically very good, but rarely wants to make a forward run and always drops back for the ball. Lots more to come I'm sure.
CPW22 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Confident on the ball, brings players into the game and seems to have a good understanding with the rest of the team. Him, Knocky and Dyer give us three very good options out wide.
TJB-fox Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 It was his full home debut, probably did simple things and wasn't particularly adventurous so he didn't lose the ball. Probably wanted to make a good impression so I think there'll be plenty more to come
StanSP Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Pretty good I'd say. Can tell he's new to the squad but at the same time, you can tell he's close to Knockaert due to the language links and that there's a lot of potential where he can flourish. Skilful indeed, quick feet but not as bedazzling as Knockaert can be. One thing I loved today - whenever he did something wrong (not many times I must admit), there was always another player there to support him, tapping him on the back or giving him a thumbs-up to say keep going etc. He took a shot in the first half which went narrowly wide, and instead of players moaning or shrugging their shoulders, they applauded him for the effort. I guess it's in correlation to the whole team ethic - don't get on each other's backs, stick together, be confident around each other and give each other support. I love it. Things like that should never be understated.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 What impressed me with the lad is he showed he's got a natural and very good football brain.
