Benji Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I would play Nugent on Saturday for one reason - he scores against Burnley.
RizLCFC Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Stick with Nugent as he likes scoring against his old clubs. I thought when Wood came on tonight that it was a really good opportunity for him but his passes/chest downs were going astray, he didn't jump for one header, he did show good awareness to make sure the ball crossed the line but I hope Kasper gets the goal.
Danno Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 He was probably Yeovil's best defender tonight, woeful.
crisp packet Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Keep in Nugent and vardy in for me . Wood looked like a " lump of wood " tonight

Agent Fox Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I agree. I'm not a Nugent fan. His 'link-up' play with Vardy is exaggerated at times, Vardy would still be having the season he's having if Nugent wasn't in the team. GTF when he comes on has proved what a proper link-up man should do. Wood, if played into form would easily be a 20 goal season player. Maybe we shouldn't change a winning team but if we are to do it, Yeovil would be a good time to do it. I enjoyed that famed link-up play tonight. Was anybody really shocked or disturbed by Nugent's play tonight? No, because it's a regular as rain. Those who use stats such as assists and goals, please refrain, us 'bad' fans aren't allowed to use them against him... Why doesn't Wood jump ? He does need to learn to jump, it's quite infuriating but another appearance, another goal-ish.

Tonight he was awful though. So was Nugent.

Was it not Nugent who put the ball on a plate in the first seconds for Vardy to somehow contrive to miss another one on one?
Jimmy Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Why change an unbeaten team? Play it safe with Vardy and Nugent. It's seemed to work all season. Would introduce Wood into the game later on if things don't go to plan. because when you don't change a team for 12 games or so you get performances like the last 2, players ran into the ground and looking shattered and bench players not up to match sharpness, rotating a side is as much about keeping the bench players sharp as it is about resting the regulars, Drinkwater James and Nugent were diabolically bad tonight and by rights, none would start at the weekend, Drinkwater and James were both poor at Blackburn too, but we know all 3 will
Lionator Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 When Wood first came in we played slick, passing Football and he scored 5 goals v Huddersfield and Bristol City. Ever since we've used him as a target man and it's pretty evident that he isn't that. Get it to his feet.
Agent Fox Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Was it not Nugent who put the ball on a plate in the first seconds for Vardy to somehow contrive to miss another one on one? No because if he had Vardy would have been offside.

I still that we aim long balls to Nugent too... If anyone is going to win a header then it'll be Vardy but long balls do not suit us.
Charl91 Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Don't worry though, if we get another penalty next game, Nugent can score it and be the hero again.
Babylon Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 No because if he had Vardy would have been offside. So from where you are sitting you don't think Nugent flicked the ball through? From Kop end it looked very much like he had flicked the ball through, and most nearby were surprised he wasn't given off side.

That hat-trick against Bristol was the most unimpressive 3 goals you'll ever see but he's lived off it for 18 months. Wood cannot find a team-mate with a pass. He can't control it either with his feet or his chest and his mobility is terrible, he looks like he's the 40 year old not Phillips. He won one header out of 11 he challenged for tonight - yes, I counted - and I hope to God Kasper gets given the goal because his half an hour on the pitch did nothing to justify a goal to his name. Nugent was poor tonight I'll grant you but I'd rather play with ten men than have Wood bumble about up there.
Guest Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Comes on, rescues a point for us in a game in which by all accounts we've been pretty shocking, and all we get is people hoping that he isn't given the goal because they don't like him

Fact is, during a game of football the ball is in the air quite a lot. For someone of his size, he should win more. Or at least jump to try and win one. He doesn't. He was awful with the ball at his feet tonight, too. Same as most of the rest of them though to be fair.
One Legged Beaver Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Nuge wasn't that bad in the game, always tried to be positive when he had the ball. Should have got an assist for Vardy in the early minutes as someone said previously and could possibly have scored as well if Wasyl didn't get in the way. Some people being overly critical of him in my opinion.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Nugent is never ever in the box hes always on the wing. Thought he was woeful tonight and hasn't been good for a while except a decent show at Barnsley. Maybe play Wood but hes worse in the air than Vardy and Nuge he doesn't ttry hard to head the ball
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 I don't think Nugent was woeful. Neither he nor Vardy had ANYYHING to feed off, apart from Vardy's tame effort where he clearly felt he must have been offside. The problem tonight was the supply. Knocky and Mahrez provided the front two with the arse end of nothing. And Wood IMO made little difference to that. I personally think Wood is over-rated by many and have done for ages.

From Kop end it looked very much like he had flicked the ball through, and most nearby were surprised he wasn't given off side. I was sitting virtually level with the back four in J3, he looked 2-3 yards off.
