Time for Wood to step in for Nugent?

As I've said on other threads and to friends - If you take the time to play Wood into form then you have the best striker in the league on your hands.

Today - He JUMPED! He won headers and he was physical. Brilliant run to setup Nugent's goal and a sublime strike for his goal.

I thought Nugent and Wood linked up very well today, better than Nugent and Vardy have in a while.

with vardy on with nuge vardy does all the running, but nuge looked a better player doing vardys job with wood doing nugents

Wood is a good player... but this thread is still wrong, in the system we play he wouldn't replace Nugent, it would be Vardy as he did today.

fair play to wood today, i was a bit concerned when vardy hobbled off but 30 seconds later the big man linked up brilliantly with nuge and we went ahead. put himself about a lot and won a few headers, good touch shown too. his goal was shithot.

Nugent is fantastic, never gives defenders a second.

Links up with wide men, allows midfield to join in & links up with whoever partners him.

Because of Wood's impact in his first month it's easy to forget he's only a young lad

lol

Chris Wood 1 Dan 0.

My point still stands in my opinion - but he was far more like it today. His application won't ever match Vardy's but that can be forgiven as that lad is a machine. Wood did excellently for both goals, his goal was a goal of the season contender, absolutely excellent.

If Wood produces more of that, then he'll win me back over. That today was exactly what I hoped we'd signed last year. He needed that big time and I'm delighted he's done what he did.

We all make mistakes pal, don't have a go at yourself.

Don't worry mate. I'm not upset. There's no need to be.

I've always called Wood "The Plank" but not anymore - Chris is a young lad and has never done a lot for me but after today's performance he has completely changed my view - today he showed that he can become the player we hoped he would become when we signed him and his goal was a worldy - Nugent and Vardy have been our main front 2 all season but Chris's performance today means we now have 3 forwards who are worthy of a start in our team - any 2 from 3 for me

With Vards out for a bit it is a nice problem for NP. If Wood performs he will keep his place when Vardy is fit. As others say Wood is still very young and with injuries and the form of the 2 strikers it is nice he has had to wait and battle for a place. This season at times we have seen Konch,Was, Moore, De laet, Dyer, King,James,Knocky all come in and out the team

Seem to have a good game today though? Won everything, showed great strength and link up play, and scored a wicked goal. As I said, its in these areas of his game where he's better than Vardy. So I guess you could say that today helped to perfectly summarise where I got the idea that he has more to his game than Vardy.

Still, really hoping Vards isn't out for too long.

He had a good game today yep. Even won some headers. No complaints from me

So has Nugent reached 20 goals in total for the season so far?

18 in the league, 1 in the league cup and one in the FA cup. So 20 goals, but only 18 in the league. Hope he gets another 2 more before the end of the season.

Nugent proved his critics wrong again.

Has a few average games, then comes up with an important goal.

Class act

I agree I was been very negative about nugent but I will say when I'm wrong and wow how class was his goal, a lot harder to put away than it looked he is a top top player, but sometimes frustrates me , Chris wood looks like he has something to prove and proved how good he is from yesterday ,

Anyone know the extent of vardys injury ??

Nuge is so much better than Wood at the moment.

Hopefully Wood works hard on his game during the close season and improves his control and fitness level (chsaing down defenders is importnat to our game). Shooting has never been his problem.

I admit that I was wrong on Wood. Class act yesterday, much like how he started off here

I don't think you are wrong and I don't think I was either.

The timing of it has made me laugh, but that still doesn't change the fact he'd been poor prior to yesterday.
