Guest Col city fan Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Whats Tom Cleverley doing these days he would be a good addition to our midfield Said this a few weeks ago. Cleverley clearly has ability (we've seen it). If UTD are willing to release him, he should join us and get his career back on track. He's doing nothing at present. Again (possibly a familiar story?) I suspect wages would be the issue. The number of young, British players who join bigger clubs and effectively price themselves out of the market for moves elsewhere is disastrous really. Scott Sinclair being another player who I'd like at Leicester, but wages again would surely be an issue. Cleverley and Sinclair.. yes please. Exactly the type of players id love us to sign. Both with points to prove.

Rich77 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Think that cambiasso guy might be worth a look at anybody mentioned it to NP
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Seen his name bandied about quite frequently recently, but is Zeki Fryers actually any good? We need a left back and he'd no doubt know a fair few of the ex-Yanited boys so you'd fancy him to adapt, but I've barely ever seen him play.
bongo92 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 we need to stop signing "experienced players", instead we need players who can come in and be in the starting line up. we need quality. Not sure why we signed upson tbh

There are plenty of former United 'squad players' that have never really made an impression once they've left. For every exception such as Phil Neville or Tim Howard, there is also a lot of dross that has left United such as Darren Gibson, John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Kieran Richardson, Park Ji Sung to name but a few. Does he have a thick enough skin to recover from this? Only time will tell, but I can't see our fans (or many others to be honest) giving him enough benefit of doubt and time for him to rediscover what he once had.
jamiegoode Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Well a few signings i mentioned have been already picked up Pocognoli, etc Why didt we go for Balottelli.....16m is nothing when we spent around 8m on Ulloa, or if we do have money.....lets put in a cheeky loan big for Radamel Falcao, or get players like Micah Richards, or with Pearsons eye for young french boys why not take a punt on some slightly more known players.....Geoffrey Kondogbia, Anthony, Martial, Lucas Digne

I think the Leicester faithful would actually welcome Cleverley with open arms and would give him time to regain some sort of form. I agree he's a victim of the debacle that has gone on at Man U. Christ knows, Fergie knew exactly what he was doing when he got out. Canny old Devil.

kingfox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Little progress, little movement. Only thing I can see happening now is, if we try and push the deals we want through by the middle of next week, or potentially wait until deadline day, and grab a few loans. Think we are entitled to about 4-5 loans, 2 from the Premier League. We will either get free agents, players who are being pushed out by their clubs or loans.
Gio Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if he was on more than £100k a week Liverpool offered him £120k a week i think. Not sure what he's been on at Milan

There is no way they move to Leicester City And except you want to spent 15 million on Martial you are not signing him

98foxes Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Wilfried Zaha available for loan, reports the Daily Express. Hmmh.....interesting!
Giggsy77 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Cant see us getting any of them to be honest, although, that said, NP seems to have strong links with United. Out of the 3, I reckon we could get Zaha but the other 2 will go to a top 6 side. Really hope we do something soon though, cant see how everyone signs players within days, yet we take an age.
Fox92 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 No point. With the loan fee(s) we'd have to pay, we could just buy a permanent player. Nige said this ages ago.
Fox 4 Life Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Why is this not in the targets thread, there has been no actual link with any of these players and LCFC
Charl91 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Can't see Tom Cleverly going to a top 6 side, and we could do with another midfielder, with our injuries and everything. Would be delighted to get him, if we could. Welbeck would also be fantastic, but I can't see United getting rid of him - even if they did, I think he'd go to a top half side at least. Zaha, we wouldn't take. I've heard from a number of different sources that he has a really bad attitude. Don't see him as the kind of player Pearson would go for. But I don't see any of this happening, sadly. I'd also rather buy then loan a player.

Welbeck is definitely not a top six striker, and Cleverley wouldn't get in a top six side either. They are both mid table Prem players at best. However saying that, technically Man U aren't a top six side, so I can't see Van Gaal loaning them out to any of their rivals even if they were good enough.
MPH Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I'd take all three. Probably won't get them, though.... Our only hope in getting them is that we have had a good relationship with Man united in the past Man united indeed only finished 7th last year... but i'd take 7th for this season any day of the week...
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 All three for me. Won't happen I don't think. Wages.

Captain... Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 If Zaha has an attitude problem, then I wouldn't be interested. Cleverly I would sign, but not on loan unless there was an agreement to sign at the end of the season. I would rather see James and Drinky develop than bring in Cleverly just to send him back at the end of the season. Welbeck is a funny one as I have never really rated for United or England, but he clearly has ability and we clearly are below United and England, but again I wouldn't want him here just for a season.
