kingfox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 We did similar against Millwall and won, but Millwall is completely different to Wigan, as they are a much tougher side. If we win the midfield battle today, it will show us how class this team really is, Wigan's midfield is very strong, McArthur, Gomez, Powell & Collison wouldn't look out of place in the Premier League. I'm not surprised he has changed the team, the only changes I'm surprised with is Konchesky & Hammond coming in, Schlupp has been class recently, and has played less games than the likes of James, while I thought King was going to come in, but be partnered with Drinkwater. We will see soon enough, but if we get a draw out of this, that would be decent.
Fox in the North Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Just seems so weird to see a different side the majority of the players that are coming in have performed well for us in the past, so I'm sure they'll put in a great shift for us with the prospect of promotion being pretty much wrapped up
5waller5 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Even if we lose I'm glad of this. I loathe the refusal to change a winning side. The core idea is great but there are times to be flexible and three games in a week in April is that time. Me too ..... There's a squad for a reason and that's so that we can use them!! I'm glad there's plenty of changes and I think it's still a great side ..... If you were listing our best players at the start of the season King would have been in the top 5, everyone is calling for Moore to come in anyway, Konchesky is first choice left back, Hammond has been pushing for a start for ages and played quite a bit of time as a sub and Wood has scored in his last two games!!!! No concern for me.
Kitchandro Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Are we? Moore, Dyer, Konchesky have all played a part in this unbeaten run, King was part of the early season good form, Wood has two in two games, the only real issue you seem to have is with Hammond playing. Yeh that's true. The others have played a part and are capable. Hammond however, has made a bunch of sub appearances, mostly when the game was already won, and just looked slow and anonymous. I saw him start at Stoke, and he was dreadful, he wasn't even trying. I think it's a bit naive to take of our best performers out, replace them with 2 players who have barely played in months, one of which has done nothing of worth all season and expect us to still be as strong a team. Common sense would tell you we're a weaker side.
5waller5 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Oh and I forgot Dyer .... Touted for player of the season 6 weeks ago!
StanSP Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Why would they pick up injuries tonight more than any other game? It's still an important match, it's like we've picked a team for the match after we're already promoted. If I didn't know better I'd say Nigel was underestimating Wigan. Hammond has contributed nothing to this promotion season, I've seen nothing to suggest he's up to the task of replacing James or Drinkwater. I'm not saying we'll lose, but we're certainly a much weaker side tonight, of that there is no doubt. Hard to impress in little cameo roles when the 2 you mention have been playing so well. Thing is, our weaker side is also pretty strong in comparison to the rest of the division!
Fox92 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 FAO 5live.. I'm listening to it now, it's BBC Radio Leicester.

Common sense would tell you we're a weaker side. We don't know until the game's over - slate players like Hammond once the final whistle's gone (should he have had a poor game, that is). Pearson rests Drinkwater and James and suddenly, we're doomed? The Stoke game is almost three months old. We've managed to improve since then and that should Hammond give an extra boost, as well. Seriously, our squad is strong enough to take the game to Wigan.
Pegosteve Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 You'd think Hammond was a mug, he played 43 games for Southampton in their promotion year!
5waller5 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I've just been thinking about the central midfield pairing ..... And I think it's that ... that he's developing pairings .... Hammond and King probably spend a lot of training games as a partnership as do Drinks and James.
AKCJ Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 ****ing hell the fans sound amazing on my stream. **** that was close! Awesome start boys!

Yeh, that Nigel Pearson must be really naive, hes only got his team top of the table, 6pts and 16pts respectively, What the hell is he doing, very very naive,.............sack him.
AKCJ Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Another chance goes begging. Awesome wing play between Lloyd and Konch.
