Wigan Post Match Thread 2 - 2

There's two choices here:

A) Let your best XI, already showing signs of fatigue, blow out their arses and probably draw/lose to Wigan, and then struggle against Wednesday

B) Send your second best team out, knick a draw and have your best XI fresh for Wednesday.

As for being a 'smartarse in hindsight', most said that they had a chance from the start.

Yeh because it's that simple.

How about play our best team tonight, win, then play our best team against Wednesday, and win?

Or is that impossible for a side 15 points clear of 3rd?

We have the whiner from the thread on Radio Leicester.

Where do all of these silly critical amateur managers come from?  Has being a Leicester fan all these years damaged your psyche so much that you forget how to be a fan of your team?  Therapy for all of you, ASAP!

Take that, I'm sure we won't play like that again this season.

2 wins to go (3 to secure it completely

Think its just 2 wins?  Brighton at home promotion party if we beat Wednesday

Wigan beat Man City, let's face it of they didn't have such a shocking start to the season they would be pushing us. For us to change six and get a point away to them just shows are quality throughout the squad

Posted

It's a point closer, players who haven't been getting games have had a game and some key players rested whilst playing one of the form teams in the division with a squad that is incredibly strong! Would have taken that at the start of the night

Posted

lol

We're how many points ahead of them?

If we'd have played our full strength side we could have, nay, probably would have beaten them.

Should have said since Rosler has been there really.

Not doubting we would have beat them which is why I said they are the best side bar us.

Told you I wasn't concerned! How times have changed - I've been a pessimist for so many years but now I genuinely believe that we'll come from behind and get at least a point - cause we are AMAZING!  :chant:  :scarf:

Next game I can go to is on Tuesday - it's gonna happen then!!! EEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!  :pearson:

I thought Wigan looked pretty good and it was a really resilient result from us.  We were backs to the wall for a large part of it but the character and self beilief got us through tonight I think.  Good to see some new faces get a game and I don't think any of them let us down at all tonight.  Of course King and Hammond are not in the same category or have the dynamism of Drinky and James but they both scored!  Actually thought he "starting pair" of strikers were the weakest link tonight.  Nuge looked tired so it was good he went off for a little rest.

Looking forward to the game on Friday, bit annoyed Ligue 1 is on TV here instead so glad streams wil be in abundance due to Sky...

Of course he made the right decision, we've just drew against arguably the best side in the league (bar us)

Easy to say that in hindsight, we were awful and were almost given an equaliser with Wigan's defending.

If Nigel said he was going to win the game then why did it take us til the 87th minute to equalise? IMO because we've taken 6 (one enforced) of our best players in recent weeks out of the side. It was needless to do. Obviously i'm happy we've stolen a point but we made that so much harder than we should, in fact, I feel that with our strongest side we could have won that. IMO we made Wigan look better than they are, they ruled the midfield and I don't think that would have happened with our strongest side.

Nobody asked for so many changes in the pre match threads and everyone questioned it when Stringer announced the side so i'm amazed that so many are on their high horses.

A very solid point. Happy to post that on the board. Anything we took tonight was a bonus after our win on Saturday. A point will do very nicely indeed! Possibly to many changes but still a decent enough performance. Thought Mahrez and GTF were the difference when they came on.

Poised for a good performance and hopefully 3 points on Friday night. With us playing on Friday if we can get our points on the board then the pressure will really be on Burnley. 3 points on Friday night should kill off QPR.

On the up!

Like at Blackburn and home to Yeovil?

No we drew those games Babs. Oh wait, you were being sarcastic? Ooooh! How original!

Are you just awkward on purpose, or do you really think we've as much chance of winnning with tonight's team as we do with a team with Drinkwater and James in?

Underperforming happens but when you pick some of the players we picked tonight you already know we're going to play poorer.

As an aside (insert ape comment here), 4 points from Burnley and Wigan away in 3 days. Wow.

Unbelievable!!. What rot some people post on here!!.. The selection was spot on tonight..wholesale changes HAD to be made with 3 games in 6 days!!... If we had played our 'usual ' starting 11 tonight, then most would be knackered for Friday... Now our key players are fresh and ready to play against Wednesday... No pleasing some people on here!!

I'll say this one last time, the staff know the fitness levels, injuries, knocks etc of all the players, you on the other hand know the square root of **** all about them. If Pearson thought it was in their and our best interests in the long term, do you not think he would have played his strongest team?

It is one thing to say you think he should have played his best 11 if they were able to. It is another to say he is or was wrong to rest people when you do not have all the full facts at hand.

I bet you Drinkwater, James, Schlupp, Mahrez and Wasyl all miraculously start on Friday.

Which means they can't be that unfit.

It sounds like we were playing it safe, to put it a nice way.

And do you not think the management would have done that if they thought that was the best thing to do? Do you think he just couldn't give a ****, or do you think he might have been thinking about getting players through the next 7 games and not just this one.

What the hell are you complaining about really? I mean really.

Just take a step back here.

You are whinging about the fact that we have only equalised late on against a Wigan side which has been the second best side in the league since Rosler came in. We got a huge 3 points on Saturday. We're 7 points clear of 2nd with 7 to play (4 at home) and 16 points clear of 3rd.

We've never had a season quite like this and you are sitting there at your computer moaning at the manager for not getting 3 points tonight (making it 6/6 for the last 3 days) away at a side which beat Man City at the Etihad and has been flying for about three months.

Get a life man.

I thought Forest were the trees.  We just have the stumps on here.  One thing about a stump, its dead, so no matter how much you try and do anything with it, you won't change it.

We played a team who,had there current manager been there all season, would be challenging for top spot.

An excellent result, particularly as we sounded to be second best for much of the game.

People are moaning about us getting a point at a team who haven't lost at home in 10 games?! Unbelievable.

People moaning about people moaning about people moaning about people moaning about people moaning about people moaning about us getting a point at a team who haven't lost at home in 10 games?! Foxestalk is fun.

But had they played tonight they may not have had 90 minutes in them on Friday.

We'll never know. But with half a reserve team we got a point away at a side which has been the second best in the league for three months.
