Ok, I'm gonna get this in early, I'm genuinely sorry I slagged np and the lads tonight. I was angry, frustrated and disappointed but, at 62 years old I should kmow better. So please ft'ers, dont think bad of me, just put it down to pmt and/or early onset Alzheimers. Once again, humble apologies, now let it go.

Put those carpet slippers on, get the Ovaltine on the go and have a nap everything will be ok. :D

And do you not think the management would have done that if they thought that was the best thing to do? Do you think he just couldn't give a ****, or do you think he might have been thinking about getting players through the next 7 games and not just this one.

Get them through 7 games? You make it sound like it's one of the most gruelling, life threatening things known to man. They've managed fine so far. Besides, we only need to get through 3 and we're up!

No I don't think he didn't give a ****, maybe he's just showing latent signs of conservatism. Maybe he had too much faith in some of our second string. Maybe he underestimated Wigan.

We played a team who,had there current manager been there all season, would be challenging for top spot.

An excellent result, particularly as we sounded to be second best for much of the game.

A different team that visited us back in September, they had all these good attacking players that were playing too deep and defensive that day.

Surely Nige today played the same logic as the Stoke cup game after a good couple of performances? Of course, a winnable game but players fitness had to be protected. Wasn't the end of the world if we didn't claim any points?

We are never party to players knocks etc. You'll be surprised how many players carry injuries for weeks on end.

Unbelievable!!. What rot some people post on here!!.. The selection was spot on tonight..wholesale changes HAD to be made with 3 games in 6 days!!... If we had played our 'usual ' starting 11 tonight, then most would be knackered for Friday... Now our key players are fresh and ready to play against Wednesday... No pleasing some people on here!!

Yep. Too right.

Genuinely interested how Konch played tonight. I have been his biggest critic this season (sometimes unfairly). Any thoughts from people who went?

Don't people understand that we have got ourselves into such a great position, we can afford to play a few of the fringe players. If the regular starters had drawn 2-2 to Wigan everyone would be fine with it.

Some of you really will complain about anything!

No we drew those games Babs. Oh wait, you were being sarcastic? Ooooh! How original!

Are you just awkward on purpose, or do you really think we've as much chance of winnning with tonight's team as we do with a team with Drinkwater and James in?

Underperforming happens but when you pick some of the players we picked tonight you already know we're going to play poorer.

It's not just about one sodding game though is it, he's thinking of the final 8 games. If they thought it was in our interests to play them he would have done. You have no idea whatsoever of how they are feeling, any knocks they may have, what the sports science team has said about them (a sports science team that everyone seems happy to suck off over us not getting many injuries).

But no, you think they should play, so they are all instantly all wrong, you know better then everyone in the club.

IT IS SIMPLE

Our strongest team would have won.

Our strongest team needed a rest and the squad needed game time.

A draw is a very good result considering Wigan's form.

Tonight's result doesn't impact our destiny - promotion.

A result is the BEST result for us tonight as we can now gain promotion in front of our own fans vs Brighton!

I get this argument but what I don't understand is why Wigan away of all games?? We had Yeovil at home last Tuesday and Wednesday at home this Friday both much easier games to role out a few players who need a kick. Fair enough he's got away with it tonight despite the fact that they were the better team. Just don't get the thinking behind it myself, hardly a major gripe but it still doesn't make sense to me.

But had they played tonight they may not have had 90 minutes in them on Friday.

We'll never know. But with half a reserve team we got a point away at a side which has been the second best in the league for three months.

Firstly, a point is a decent result. I've said that. Not great, but perfectly fine with the position we're in. However, we were a bit fortunate in the sense that we were very poor and scored our second out of the blue, with a well taken set piece no doubt. I have my opinion on certain players but some people seem unable to distance themselves from theirr love of Pearson to accept that our selection tonight was a bit strange, and wass, put simply, a weakened team.

Secondly, maybe they wouldn't be able to get through 90 minutes. Maybe they would. Maybe it wouldn't matter, because we could bring them off after the job is done, or after they stop being effective in the match. I'd rather put our best foot forward, and then go with plan B as a response, personally. Tonight we started with plan C.

I'm not going to join the Hammond love in though. Despite his goal I think he's been awful for us, and I'm not surprised we struggled tonight with him among so many changes.

Anyone just hear "Matt" on radio Leicester?

You really have to ask yourself where they get those callers from.

Pathetic attempt at nitpicking each and every so-called "fault" today.

If you're reading this, "Matt", you're embarrassing.

I really despair sometimes when I hear comments on the radio and read some comments on here.

Given that we play 3 games in 6 days it was completely unrealistic to suggest that we should keep the same side for all three. Especially as that side has remained unchanged (apart from enforced absences) since god knows when.

Wigan was absolutely the right game to rest them in. Burnley was, frankly, a more important game given that we want to finish top and so is Sheffield Wednesday as, theoretically, they are more beatable than Wigan. We could have made no changes against a very good side and still lost and then had a knackered bunch of players on Friday.

Considering the circumstances I thought this was one of the best results of the season. Then I read some of the rubbish on here.

Do some people really expect us to play the same side, every single game and never lose or play poorly? I think this run may have given a few of us delusions of grandeur!

Recovery time with Wednesday being Friday. As simple as that. 48 hours minimum an athlete should have before competitive sport. Apparently it's one of the big points within sports science.

Players who didn't play will have a normal week of training. Those what did play likely to be off until Thursday PM with a warm down session tomorrow. Subs somewhat in between.

5 wins for champions is it? See off the home games which Nige has clearly prioritised it's job done.

Well point nearer our goal of promotion. Pretty sure i'd have Nigel as manager compared to any of the experts on here. Fairly certain that our conditioning has been a major advantage for us over our rivals. Perhaps some on here go and watch the players train everyday and have access to whatever data the fitness and sports science guys have. Some players needed a rest and got it, some of the squad players needed a run out. Our success is not down to our best 11 it is the squad. You cannot keep going on about how good your sports science people are then ignore what they are telling you. Nigel made a call tonight in resting a few players and we got another point.

God help us if we lose our first game in the premiership

Maybe because we only need 3 more wins he's going to play our strongest team against the poorer opposition to further ensure we get the job done whilst also giving the squad players a chance in the games that we wouldn't be guaranteed to win. Just a theory.

Mainly I think he has a lot of faith in the squad

First ive really seen of hammond - i was impressed with Him. Did a good job of covering the back four. Great player for an away game such as this one.

Shame to concede twice from set pieces. Apart from that we never really looked in trouble.

Good to see konch and dyer back.

Good performance, great result.

No idea how the moaners are contriving to turn this into a disaster of some sort. I really wonder how some people get through life.

Is it impossible to believe that Wigan are a top team.
Resting players with our squad, should be possible. We have played poor recently with James and Drinkwater.
A 1 or 2 game sitting it out, does make a difference, it stops the negatives in routine .
Well done NP.

That's not answered my question given we could of played the side we did tonight on Friday.

Well we didn't win did we?

Yet some people on here are so quick to point out Pearson got his selection right. Well if our aim, first and foremost, is to win a match, which it is, then I'd say that's very debatable.

So I'd say Pearson got his selection wrong tonight, even if we win on Friday. We've still dropped 2 points tonight.

Now, if I'm not entitled to my opinion because I don't know the exact fitness situation of the club (though, let's face it, we all know no one is injured) then that's pretty ridiculous.

Or maybe he felt to get the best out of the players for the remaining games, they needed to miss today.
