Manwell Pablo Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 yes,but this is this season, stop living in the past. Well he's done it in the past, he's done it tonight, and the most worrying thing is, he may do it sometime in the future when it matters somewhat more, hence the moaning.
Raj Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 And this is exactly the point Raj, why wasn't this team rolled out a week ago when it was needed? fair point, but perhaps he thought they werent as fatigued as was evident. But then again they were fine against Burnley so fcuk knows!!! Maybe he thought he needed all his big boys for the Big One!
Bert Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 The belief in the squad is class. We just don't know when we are beat. Were nowhere near our best whatsoever but didn't give up. Two poor goals to concede. We must get better at defending set pieces.

Captain... Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 And this is exactly the point Raj, why wasn't this team rolled out a week ago when it was needed?Exactly we could have played King for drinky and Moore for Was against Blackburn, King for James with Wood for Nugent against Yeovil, Konch and Dyer against Burnley. The situation in terms of number of games played would be about the same but at no point would we have a significantly weaker team, but conversely we would not have played a full strength team in any of those games. Nobody knows which approach would have resulted in more points, but personally I advocate playing a slightly under strength team for 4 games than change over 50% of the starting line up for one game.
ScouseFox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 When was the last time we conceded a goal in open play? At a guess it would be Watford. Today, Yeovil, Blackpool and both vs Forest were all set pieces weren't they?
Benji Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 And this is exactly the point Raj, why wasn't this team rolled out a week ago when it was needed? I guess it's a possibility that Pearson regrets not doing exactly that, learnt a lesson and made the decision tonight.

Agreed, do it in a game you can get a result in though, against a team that's weaker and has probably set up to counter you best players, not one that's going to come at you regardless like they did. I am ultimately going to go round in circles here because Pearson has done a fantastic job this season and as a result he is clearly a man who can do no wrong with a lot of you. And like I've said this is more than likely going to mean diddly squat in the grand scheme of things, it just smacks of mistakes made previously which I thought he'd learnt from, I have images of us naming shit teams at Old Trafford next season in order to get a result a the Hawthorns in mid week and that's not what I want to watch and is not often a tactic that gets you places.

Yeah, but that means you're assuming Pearson is infallible. Please don't. Let's get promoted first, then worry about the next season.

Even top managers get it wrong, NP aint perfect ( not saying he got it wrong). Its football for godsake where everything is possible......It seems you are just waiting for slip ups, just to say, 'I told you so' Nice to see you are taking your coaching exams and making yourself available to replace NP next season. Tell me at the moment, is there another manager in your opinion who would do better. Alex Ferguson never knew what a midfield was, and he is considered the best.. I love the controversy the mistakes, the 10 minutes or 2 seconds of perfection, the gagging failures, the incredible , is part of the entertainment, but hanging on a thread waiting for someone to make a mistake, doesnt give me an high.
MPH Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 And this is exactly the point Raj, why wasn't this team rolled out a week ago when it was needed? Probably wants to get to the finishing line ASAP then give some youngsters a go....
dpjfox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 We got out of jail tonight against a good team 2 bad goals conceded, and if Wasy had played i think we would have defended the set pieces better, that said i thought Moore had a great game. Lets hope the gamble of resting key players is justified on friday

Agreed, my criticism was never aimed at King or Hammond or any of the other changes, and that they weren't good enough, just the scale of the changes for one game, especially if on Friday we go back to the 'first team', in my opinion that is not utilising the squad it is basically sacrificing one game.
Mark_from_USA Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 There was no gamble. There was no risk. There was no mistake. Leicester have promotion in the bag. They have 3 games in 6 days. They have a sports science department. They have done very well this year at keeping their squad healthy. They know what they are doing. We don't know the injuries. We don't know the squad plans. Any questions?

Any questions? One question, one statement. What would you have done over the last few weeks knowing the fixture list and the stresses and strains on a footballer and the likely need for changes, earmarked one game to make a lot of changes, or rotated the squad throughout the whole period so the team was never significantly weakened? The fact promotion is a certainty is irrelevant I still want us to finish top of the league and I still want us to win every game.
glenelgfox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Can't believe some of the posts on here this morning. Everyone wants "their" team to win every time they play but that is fantasy stuff as no team in any professional league, let alone the championship can do that. Go back to the morning of Dec 8th 2013 and tell me who on this forum would not have taken 14 wins, 6 draws 48 points out of a possible 60 over the next 20 games? A remarkable effort yet we still have the moaners, whingers and the always negative getting delight out of a hard earned away draw. As mentioned by a few - a tough schedule over this week and next taking into account we are at the tail end of a long and competitive campaign, clearly dictates and justifies the Managers changes IMO. Looking fwd to watching us live this Friday night - a home win along with finally seeing a set piece goal would do me nicely.
james23wcr Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Geez. 2-2 come from behind draw away from home against the leagues in-form side with several players rightfully rested and our starting striker out due to injury and people are STILL complaining. Foad.

The fact promotion is a certainty is irrelevant I still want us to finish top of the league and I still want us to win every game. Your assuming I know the injury list. Do you? At least one, Vardy, was rotated last game due to injury. People have said James has not looked his best, perhaps he has a knock? Moore is an England under 21 international and Was has had his share of injury problems in the past. Dyer is trying to round back into form after injury and so was pretty well rested. Maybe Pearson wanted his pace - it seemed to be causing problems toward the end. This is what I mean - people are making assumptions then unloading the criticisms. This I do know - City have capable reserves, for which we can be thankful. They haven't missed a serious beat all year due to injury, which is remarkable.
BoyJones Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Just got back, can't believe the negative comments. Unbeaten in 20, he gives four definite first teamers and two fringe players a chance to impress. Wigan are not that good as they proved tonight, Pearson must have been confident of getting at the very least a draw. Wigan had loads of energy and movement, but in open play didn't worry City too much, although we do need to sort set plays. I always thought we would equalise and we could have won it if De Laet pull back had found a city player. Anyway, was relaxed with the selection as all our team were experienced professionals who know how to play the game, except Mahrez who is a real enigma, could be a great player. Wigan were far superior to Burnley, but will be surprised if they win the play offs, they are well suspect in defence. Roll on Friday!!
stevebrock Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Good result. Nice to see how knowledgeable people on this forum are, criticise the 2 goalscorers for not being good enough. i agree idiots! for god sake 4 points from 2 away games at Burnley & Wigan - god give me strength its fantastic
stevebrock Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 sick of people on here now - FFS we are 7 points clear 20 unbeaten for god sake
J.Lisemore Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Not long got back, wasn't the best performance of the season but we grinded out a result and we could have even nicked it near the end, we were pushing for a winner. Although I feel we do need to work on defending set pieces better but, overall, it was a brilliant game to watch and we came out a point closer to promotion All is good.
