Happy Fox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Some guy on Bentleys Roof who has been reliable in the past from my memory. Says we are after Rhodes. http://fansonline.net/leicestercity/mb/view.php?id=699580
Dan Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 He isn't worth £8mil. I'd rather have McCormack personally. Rhodes is a great finisher but I've said it many a time, I've never been convinced by his all-round game.
AKCJ Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Wouldn't say no. Could see him and Vardy having a good partnership.
Finnegan Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Please no. There's no way he'll represent value for money, given the hype he's had over the last two years. He's also got sod all pace or trickery to him. Just a boring lump, albeit one that knows where the goal is at lower levels.
MPH Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Didnt he just sign a new contract at Blackburn? And if we truly have a wage cap of 30k p/w then we'll have no chance as im pretty sure hes already over that....
Babylon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Doesn't strike me as a Pearson type striker, does bugger all most of the game other than score (yes yes I know, but Pearson I'm sure prefers workers who score and not just scorers).
StanSP Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 No chance of us getting him. Blackburn won't settle for less than what they got him for which is £8-10m. Plus speaking to a few Blackburn fans they seem to be of the impression that he's in that 'lazy' mould but does know where the goal is. He doesn't run around like we expect from our forwards these days (Vardy and Nugent do their fair share). I can guarantee you that if Rhodes came to us he'd more like a Kevin Phillips. Eye for goal but will expect everything on a plate, expect service. From what I understand he doesn't really work for his goals but knows where to position himself to be in the right place at the right time.
dpjfox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 never impressed me when watching "live", but does hit the net consistently, i doubt wed be interested at £8mill

MC Prussian Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Great goalscorer, but not the best team player and not known to be of the assisting kind, really. All he does is depending on others swinging in those long balls into the box. He strikes me as pretty one-dimensional in his playing style.

Head Honcho Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Can't be paying silly money for someone unproven in the PL. He's strictly Championship level imo.
Donut Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 A no from me As others have said a one dimensional player, and very few players of his type thrive in the premiership in this era. Would need to do more than sniff out chances in the box and doesnt contribute enough without the ball. Align that to the fact that he lacks pace which is a key attribute needed at the top level, and it shows why hes at his level.
kingfox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Me and my mate were discussing transfer targets as we walked home from the Sheff Wed match. I said I wouldn't get in a Championship striker, he said he wouldn't mind McCormack, and said he wouldn't take Rhodes as he thinks he is overrated. I tend to agree, even though he has scored plenty of goals for Blackburn, I still think they overpaid for him, would be a waste of money in my opinion, when you could get a striker in one of the top European leagues for a couple of million less.
richardsfoxes Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 No thanks, 8M far to much for him. Would rather us try and get someone abroad for that sort of money.
kingfox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Well that's obviously a lie. I'm not. I swear on my ferrets lives.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I'd be very happy to see Rhodes in a City shirt. 8m though? Not sure. He is a very good finisher and would compliment an attack of Vardy and Nuge very nicely. Could be used in a 4-3-3 also.. Vardy left, Nuge right, Rhodes central. Thats a strong attacking three.
pazzerfox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I just don't know. £8 million is a lot to pay for someone who hasn't played in the Premiership.
Ozwin Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I'd be very happy to see Rhodes in a City shirt. 8m though? Not sure. He is a very good finisher and would compliment an attack of Vardy and Nuge very nicely. Could be used in a 4-3-3 also.. Vardy left, Nuge right, Rhodes central. Thats a strong attacking three. But then you're leaving Mahrez and Knockaert out the side?
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 But then you're leaving Mahrez and Knockaert out the side? I'm not saying that Pearson would play a 4-3-3 every game, of course. Just an option to have in certain games, if we pick up injuries, players out of form etc etc. I doubt we will go flat 4-4-2 every game Oz.

Vardy I could see play as a winger, but Nugent? Nope. Not fast enough. Also, as Oz has pointed out, where do you fit in Knockaert and Mahrez in that formation? Rhodes in a City shirt is a no-go. He's not the type of player Pearson's after and would definitely not fit our system up front.
