muzzy1981 Posted 2 July 2014 Posted 2 July 2014 Love that kasabian is being played with this vid... Must be written in the stars. Most of his goals seem to come from breaks down the wing and a decent amount of headed crosses. With knocky and mahrez supplying the magic I could see him doing well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Posted 2 July 2014 Posted 2 July 2014 I think people need to chill out over the price. If we were in the Championship £7m would seem a lot of money but Prem clubs struggle to buy cheap from other English clubs as prices are inflated. Whilst this seems perverse, it's actually good for football as a whole as too much money is at the top of the game and so increased prices at the bottom are the only way to get money down the leagues. The number of cheap strikers signed in the Prem is very small and not many make it. £7m is an awful lot less than many other strikers have cost low end Prem teams and flopped. If he's played in England and shown he can mix it and NP likes his attributes then £7m isn't that much to be risking.

Even though I'm unsure of this guy I'm going to trust NP's and Steve Walsh's judgement, they will know everything about him and Nigel wouldn't spend that kinda money if he wasn't 100% sure that he would make it
nc_fox Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 He would be a solid signing. However, I do feel that at times his enthusiasm leaves something to be desired. I have watched videos and he seems to be like Balotelli at times in regards to not caring. Of course, I could be just reading too much into things.

He like every one else will find goals a lot harder to come by in the Prem.

Seems a different kind of striker than Vardy and Nuge, i guess this is why we want him and are prepared to go big for him. But it is after all championship level of defending he was up against. Which is what you could say about everyone outside the premier league, i'd rather have a Championship striker than any of these other supposed rumoured signings from much poorer foreign leagues. For those bemoaning the price, If Dwight Gayle, a relegated to league 1 striker at the time, was worth £8m last season, £7m for a player of Ulloas quality is a bargain.

I don't think anyone else was even in for him- that was really a bit of madness on Holloway's part (who seemed to lose the plot with his signings for Palace ahead of their premiership campaign. ) The point you make is a valid one though so far as comparisons go
jammie82uk Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 . Just because a club paid £8m doesn't mean he's worth it plus I think the price probably had more to do with his age
Jon the Hat Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 Have we heard anything at all to suggest this is actually going to happen?

TJB-fox Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 I think he'd be the best finisher at the club, with both head and feet.
indierich06 Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 Just because a club paid £8m doesn't mean he's worth it plus I think the price probably had more to do with his age But it does mean that the market for Championship level strikers is getting over-inflated. Like it or not, the recent sales of players like Rhodes, Austin, Gayle, Rodriguez etc for large sums mean that any time a club is interested in a quality Championship striker, they know they're going to have to pay the going rate - whether that's right or not is a different matter.
sylofox Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 I think he'd be the best finisher at the club, with both head and feet. Head maybe but told he has a history of missing easy or simple chances with his feet. Waits for my ear bashing.
RizLCFC Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 Samaras is shite, just because he's had a decent WC doesn't make him good enough for a Premier League campaign when he clearly struggled in SPL last season. He works hard I'll give him that, but so do Vardy and Nugent, we need someone different with class and that's got to be Ulloa for me. Not too bothered if we miss out on Campbell but I'd love it if both joined.
Reg Vardy Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 Interesting that Assombalonga appears here.As a Stamford based Foxes fan, every year Barry Fry talks up their centre forward and some sucker club buy them.....MacClean, Mackail Smith,Tomlin,Gayle,Taylor, the list is endless....as an occasional Posh watcher please please Assombalongone......not good enough by a mile
RedSoxUK Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 7m for a striker whos club don't want to lose, and who isnt too prolific infront of goal seems rediculous when a player like Danny Ings is for sale for less than that fee / English / and young. If Brighton won't sell Ulloah for less than 5m, then we have to look elsewhere in a Danny Ings, or splash the cash on someone like Jordan Rhodes who has proven to cope the pressure of a transfer fee / knock in goals from any positon angle and body part, and who can hold an inferior team together as a marksman. Either way, Rhodes is unlikely in his cost/ownership, but i'd rather us buy goals in a Danny Ings, or workrate in a Frazier Campbell - not 7m which may appear to be a waste to everyone apart from the optimistic bus and the Brighton owners. If he comes for 7m, i'll be happy Akinshite is wiped from history, but will be weary of how a foreign striker will perform in our pretty much always British front line.
Ozwin Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 I bloody hope that Samaras post was just a hilarious joke. I think I'd have to consider my stance on this club all together if we signed him.
DanTheFox07 Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 might be nothing in it, but ive seen it rumoured Brighton have bid for baldock. Could they be preparing to sell ulloa....?

So you would not take a player thats had a decent WC.(the highest possible level) But you would take a striker that was far from the best in the championship and at a ridiculous price?
RizLCFC Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 So you would not take a player thats had a decent WC.(the highest possible level) But you would take a striker that was far from the best in the championship and at a ridiculous price? There's been several times where average players get called up for major tournaments and it brings the best out of them, but back at club level they perform poorly again. Let's be honest, that Greece side are terrible and he stood out because he's slightly better then the rest. And yes, if I had a choice I would choose Ulloa over Samaras.

Ulloa for 10m and unproven above the champioship. Forgetting the difference in style I would not be happy paying 10m for McCormack as he is unproven in the prem. Also never played above the championship.

How do you know it's £10 million for Ulloa, that's just rumours. I'm confident that if we sign him the deal will have to be right for us otherwise we'll say no.

That just shows how "Average" the cream of the Premiership were. Because I think the Greeks qualified while England did not . Samaras could well rise to the occasion if he was given the opportunity to play in the premiership. I can remember a certain Leicester player ,Zagarious, captaining the no hoppers, Greece to a European nations final and winning it . England have never reached the final ! If you are going to pick fault with other national teams please do not forget how poor England have been, For decades ! Pearson will acquire players who will give 110% for City that was his ethic as player and he has carried it through to management.
