That just shows how "Average" the cream of the Premiership were. Because I think the Greeks qualified while England did not . Samaras could well rise to the occasion if he was given the opportunity to play in the premiership. I can remember a certain Leicester player ,Zagarious, captaining the no hoppers, Greece to a European nations final and winning it . England have never reached the final ! If you are going to pick fault with other national teams please do not forget how poor England have been, For decades ! Pearson will acquire players who will give 110% for City that was his ethic as player and he has carried it through to management.

This is all irrelevant.

Lennon was on the other day saying how poor Samaras attitude is. He couldn't be bothered to try for Celtic why would he for Leicester. We are not playing in the World Cup finals.

Exactly! That's what I'm trying to say.

Graham, what has comparing England and Greece got to do with it? I know we were shite this World Cup but the fact is we aren't gonna be linked with anyone from our national team, we are with Samaras, that's why I'm talking about Greece, they got lucky with qualification.

33 goals in 81 La Liga games for Almeria.

He played two seasons in La Liga Adelante (2nd tier) and that's where he scored the vast majority of his league goals in Spain.

Also, you could argue that La Liga Adelante is even a step below the Championship, with all the small opponents floating around there (Alcorcon, Eibar, Girona, Lugo, Mirandes, etc.)

La Liga BBVA? 7 goals in 34 games. Please get yer facts straight.

Don't remember Zagarious playing for us or Greece for that matter ;-)

I take it you mean Theo Zagorakis?

He left Leicester in 2000 and was with AEK Athens when he captained Greece to winning Euro 2004.

How do you know it's £10 million for Ulloa, that's just rumours. I'm confident that if we sign him the deal will have to be right for us otherwise we'll say no.

I don't but brighton have supposed put that price on his head personally think 6m is too much.

Don't believe everything you read in the papers mate, I think it would take a bid of around £6 million plus add ons to get Ulloa, but if we can get Wickham for that amount I'd rather we signed him.

I don't the key word was supposed.

And like I said I think he is over priced at 6m without any add ons

I think you have been like the rest of us out of the prem too long. six million is loose change it's nothing , it's what you pay for back up players at this level. Even ten million is about average for a forward. If we want to swim in the big pool we need to lose the water wings and stop being so naive.

Spot on, we can't be afraid of spending that sort of money in the Premiership at this time, we definitely need to cash out on 1 striker at least.

I dont think the issue many people have is spending £10m, its spending £10m on Ulloa. Nige clearly rates him but he's really not worth £10m, just like McCormack isn't. Its ridiculous prices for them players and I'm sure we could look abroad for better players for that kind of cash.

I'm all for spending big on a striker but it needs to be a striker that is worth the price tag and has potential sell on value, which at 28, Ulloa doesn't have. Wickham would be a good deal as he's young and if we could strike a deal for around £5-6m, he could be worth double that if he reaches his full potential. Whoever we sign as a striker it will be a risk but I just don't want us to pay inflated prices for players just because a club like Brighton has got greedy!

FFS this is hard work where did I say spending 6m is a problem?

I said I do not feel Ulloa is worth 6m.

Yes you did and I got your post out of context , apologies  . But what I'm getting at is Ten million will not buy us a fifteen goals a season striker who already plays at that level , you would be talking double that plus his wages, and there is no way on earth are we going to pay either.

So realistically six million or even Ten million at that level is always going to be a gamble. And that is exactly what we are going to have to do, pay that kind of money and hope it pays off.

You can’t “buy” goals. No player comes with a guarantee of success.

The point about Ulloa is just that he offers something that we don’t currently have. He’s a good hold-up man and can play up front on his own. This seems to be a rare commodity in the current transfer market, and as such is highly valued.

So it’s pointless to argue about what Ulloa is “worth” . The value of any commodity is determined purely by a seller’s wish to sell, and a buyer’s need to buy.

Brighton don’t wish to sell, and we need a player of his type. Hence the high transfer fee being asked for.

Yes you can. Shearer, Suarez, Van Persie etc .... If you pay enough you can guarantee buying goals.

Well said and thanks for the apology.

Every purchase is a gamble however much you pay money guarantees nothing.

I bet Liverpool thought they had pulled it off with the Vampire lol lol

Hind sight is a wonderful thing.

But at the point of signing there was no guarantee's
