Saxondale Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 Apologies if such a thread exists already. Inspired by the (entirely justified) slagging off Stoke in another thread, which places do you hate? Here are some of mine: Skelmersdale - A new town built to take the overflow of Scousers, comprising several hideous estates and a dated shopping precinct. Lots of roundabouts. Grantham - An ugly and decrepit town full of unpleasant and stupid c**ts. Most residents possess more STDs than GCSEs. The town centre is full of the type of bars that were popular in the civilised world 10-15 years ago with one-word names like 'Code' or 'Enigma'. Crawley - Another extremely tatty new town that is notable only for being near Gatwick Airport. The worst part about it is that, because it's not too far from London, it's still ruddy expensive. Preston - Ugly, unpleasant, full of violent smackheads. Sleaford - My GF's step sister was going out with a lad born and bred in Sleaford. They went to Scarborough for a weekend, which was genuinely the first time he'd left Lincolnshire in his life. He was 26. Hastings - Before went there, I was under the impression that it would be a charming seaside town, steeped in history and full of culture. In reality, 90% of it is a deprived and run down shithole full of complete lunatics. Neath - Not nice. Market Rasen - The 1970s, minus any positive aspects.
ScouseFox Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 haha. i for one am glad that even on a forum primarily based nowhere near here skem is top of a list of disgusting places.
ScouseFox Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 of the rest i've only ever been to preston and that is for a match so didn't see much of it, looked a bit depressing though. i'll add stockport. just an upsetting place to be.
Mack Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Hastings like most other former seaside holiday resorts turned into a hell hole in the decades that followed when the foreign package holiday became king. The locals who's economy was largely based on tourism sat around unemployed, disillusioned and took to drink and drugs to escape the misery. The situation has not much changed since.
Finnegan Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 If you think Neath is bad, try Aberdare. Seriously. Neath is a relative paradise. Then there's Newport... Blackpool has to be on the list somewhere.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Was in Blackpool recently - it's grim. Very, very grim. I won't be going back for anything other than football reasons.
lavrentis Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Apologies if such a thread exists already. Grantham - An ugly and decrepit town full of unpleasant and stupid c**ts. Sleaford - My GF's step sister was going out with a lad born and bred in Sleaford. They went to Scarborough for a weekend, which was genuinely the first time he'd left Lincolnshire in his life. He was 26. I used to frequent these 2 towns. Sleaford isn't that bad and deserves to be nowhere near your list, it's just quiet. Grantham town centre is pretty minging however it does have some nice houses in some well to do suburbs. There is also quite a few city fans there as well despite it being mostly forest fans.
Bayfox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 How did you forget hitlers biggest crime. Not finishing off coventry. Shithole only saved from worst place ever by hull.
cambridgefox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Was in Blackpool recently - it's grim. Very, very grim. I won't be going back for anything other than football reasons.I will add Great Yarmouth. What a fooking dump,I'm not a fan of commercial seaside towns, bit o think this is a dreary, depressing with dodgy people any time of year.
Bryn Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Surprised Hull has only been mentioned by one ignorant knuckle dragger, thought I'd have to crack a few skulls. How a town with a thriving and beloved university, a criminally underrated music scene, some really attractive features including a marina and genuinely friendly people still attracts scorn from people who've never been continues to mystify me. Let's face it, most places in the UK are much of a muchness and they all have nice bits and shit bits.
Lionator Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Skegness/Mablethorpe and all the 'Lestoh' type sh*tholes around there.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Seahouses in the NE is pretty bloody grim, especially in the rain.
bovril Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Wisbech aka Wisbekistan. Rotherham - reminded me a bit of a concentration camp. Pernik in Bulgaria - post communist mess of chavs and crumbling factories. Napoli - nice in parts, horrible in others. But as Bryn says most places have good and bad bits.
Charl91 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I liked Stoke I was just about to say Coalville though.
Filbert's Friend Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Hastings like most other former seaside holiday resorts turned into a hell hole in the decades that followed when the foreign package holiday became king. The locals who's economy was largely based on tourism sat around unemployed, disillusioned and took to drink and drugs to escape the misery. The situation has not much changed since. My girlfriend is from the town next door (Bexhill-on-Sea), and that, comparably, is a lovely little seaside town. It's interesting to see how these places can end up so different. But yeah, you're right. Hastings is an absolute dump.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 As if Coalville is being mentioned in the same breath as these others. You've clearly never been here if so. Fishguard would be my suggestion. Grim
Stadt Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Hunstanton Old Hunstanton is quite nice but Hunstanton is a congregation of chavs and other Neanderthals. Anybody mentioned Braunstone yet?
