bovril Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Hunstanton Old Hunstanton is quite nice but Hunstanton is a congregation of chavs and other Neanderthals. Anybody mentioned Braunstone yet? I love Hunstanton! The walk from Heacham to Hunstanton on a sunny day is unbeatable. Yeah there are a few chavs and weirdos but I quite like the old school, run-down seaside charm. When I come home and see that Jim Davidson is still playing at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton, I know all is right with the world.

Bert Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Most places in the North West are just horrible. Burnley, Blackpool, Preston, Bolton, Southport, Stockport, Rochdale, Bury - I could carry on. As the saying goes "it's grim up north".
separator Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Milton Keynes - concrete cows and roundabouts, horrid 1960s new town. Croydon - the rioters a few years ago had the right idea in trying to torch the place.
DennisNedry Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Apologies if such a thread exists already. Inspired by the (entirely justified) slagging off Stoke in another thread, which places do you hate? Here are some of mine: Skelmersdale - A new town built to take the overflow of Scousers, comprising several hideous estates and a dated shopping precinct. Lots of roundabouts. Grantham - An ugly and decrepit town full of unpleasant and stupid c**ts. Most residents possess more STDs than GCSEs. The town centre is full of the type of bars that were popular in the civilised world 10-15 years ago with one-word names like 'Code' or 'Enigma'. Crawley - Another extremely tatty new town that is notable only for being near Gatwick Airport. The worst part about it is that, because it's not too far from London, it's still ruddy expensive. Preston - Ugly, unpleasant, full of violent smackheads. Sleaford - My GF's step sister was going out with a lad born and bred in Sleaford. They went to Scarborough for a weekend, which was genuinely the first time he'd left Lincolnshire in his life. He was 26. Hastings - Before went there, I was under the impression that it would be a charming seaside town, steeped in history and full of culture. In reality, 90% of it is a deprived and run down shithole full of complete lunatics. Neath - Not nice. Market Rasen - The 1970s, minus any positive aspects. Grantham isn't that bad, it's a fairly dull but inoffensive place. Granted, it has been overran with thieving Eastern Europeans as of late but that's hardly the town's fault.
Buce Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Wtf? Leicester people calling other places shitty? The words pot, kettle and black spring to mind...
kingfox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Everything about Portsmouth looked shit, when I went a couple season's ago to Fratton Park.
bovril Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 When I went to Hunstanton I'd stayed in Wells so it was always going to look even more shit. That's what I like about Hunstanton, it's retained some of its original character and not been overrun with Chelsea types and gastro-pubs.

As the saying goes "it's grim up north". Stockport. What a beautifully sh*t place. It's like going back to the 60's apart from the modern pizza hut complex near the centre. It's even worse around the Edgeley Park area. All of the Manchester suburb towns are horrible yet Manchester itself is brilliant.

Yeah I went on some ale trail with a few mates in Stockport whilst at Uni (yeah I know we were sad bastards) and it reminded me of some post-apocalyptic B-movie horror set, complete with a few hundred zombie extras. You're right about Manchester.
adam1 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Leave Stockport alone! It's not that bad. Yes Edgeley is a dump but so is New Parks... Talking of the areas within Greater Manchester - Hyde? Bit of a dump. Bridlington. What a shit hole. Old Bridlington is nice, a few antiques shops but 'main' Bridlington just no.

I don't like people slagging off King's Lynn even though it is a bit of a shit hole. I suppose there are reasons to love and hate every place....
cambridgefox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Wisbech aka Wisbekistan. Rotherham - reminded me a bit of a concentration camp. Pernik in Bulgaria - post communist mess of chavs and crumbling factories. Napoli - nice in parts, horrible in others. But as Bryn says most places have good and bad bits. I thought of Wisbech, but thought no one would know it.Forgot about your roots.

Unabomber Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 The worst place I have been to is Luton, it didn't help that it was plagued by giant flying ants at the time though. Very surprised that Coalville is getting hate, some decent areas here.
broughtonblue Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Skegness Merthyr Tydfil or however it's spelt Best place.... Isle of wight
DennisNedry Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I thought of Wisbech, but thought no one would know it.Forgot about your roots. Wisbech - another lovely town ruined by immigration from eastern europe. God bless the EU.
