Super_horns Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I wonder if Mr Warnock dropped Clattenburg in it after the disputed decisions in the WBA V Palace game! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2811768/Referee-Mark-Clattenburg-axed-breaking-protocol-travelling-wouldn-t-miss-Ed-Sheeran-concert.html Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg will miss next weekend’s round of fixtures for breaking protocol so he could watch an Ed Sheeran concert. Clattenburg travelled in his own car to officiate the West Bromwich vs Crystal Palace match in order to get back to Newcastle in time to see the award-winning singer-songwriter perform at the Metro Radio Arena last Saturday. Premier League regulations require the referee and his assistants to travel together to and from games for integrity and security purposes.
Bert Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Typical of the referees of today who think they're above everyone else. If you don't stick to protocol you get punished and just because this bloke is a ref it should be no different. What gives him special dispensation to do what he wants?
Babylon Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Typical of the referees of today who think they're above everyone else. Bit of an over reaction no? He drove in his own car rather than all together. Hardly the crime of the century or thinking he's above everyone else. Although he should miss the game purely for going to an Ed Sheeran concert.

Although he should miss the game purely for going to an Ed Sheeran concert. Only if you think so. But please explain what gives him the right to travel alone when everyone else is sticking to the rules?
StanSP Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I'd love to know what was said between he and Warnock.
Super_horns Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Typical of the referees of today who think they're above everyone else. As with most people in football. Whereas else would get away with swearing and pushing the officials like managers and players do? MInd you Clattenburg does have history of getting into trouble and yes rules do have to be stuck to (unless there some sort of personal issue which needs to be dealt with) Probably happens all the time but they just keep quiet which is why I suspect Warnock was the one who told the tale.
filbertway Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Weird that they all have to travel together. Would laugh it if it was a lino that grassed him up because it wasn't his turn to drive and he was upset he had to drive again haha. Such a non event.

Babylon Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Only if you think so. But please explain what gives him the right to travel alone when everyone else is sticking to the rules? Yes I do think so. He's not allowed to do it, he didn't follow the guidelines and has been punished. To glean that he "thinks he's above everyone else" from something like that is ridiculous. I doubt there isn't anyone on here who has broken some minor law or guideline at work.

Well obviously I'm wrong then now you've decided that. Apologies.
Babylon Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 They're chauffeur driven! What a willy puller he is, using his own petrol. Well obviously I'm wrong then now you've decided that. Apologies. Not, wrong. Just a bit sad.
filbertway Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 They're chauffeur driven! That ruined that little scenario then. If he'd have used his noodle he'd have parked his car there on Friday night, then get the taxi with his boys and drive back himself post match to watch Ed. I'm assuming after the game you can't be bribed to throw the match.

If the players are doing it, that's a different matter, but some anonymous 20-something on an internet forum means jack shit towards how the game goes.
foxfanazer Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Anybody else seen that Steve Bruce is being heavily linked with the Fulham job? Bizarre!
Kitchandro Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Anybody else seen that Steve Bruce is being heavily linked with the Fulham job? Bizarre! Maybe the city of Hull is that horrible that someone would consider dropping into a relegation battle in the division below just to get away from there.
Fox92 Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 My mate supports Hull and he was telling me about this. And odds have gone from 50's to now just 4/1. But like I said to him, the only attraction is London and if Fulham offered him more money, surely? Because walking into Fulham, he's just got the exact job as when he walked into Hull. Ok, not as bad, but in terms of having to build up a squad to win promotion and then challenge in the Premier League. What's the point? Not only that, but he has a group of decent footballers at Hull - Chester, Davies, Jelavic, Huddlestone etc - are good footballers.
Dan Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Maybe it's to get away from this whole situation about Hull City Tigers (though that seems to have, surprise surprise, gone quiet).

Not only that, but he has a group of decent footballers at Hull - Chester, Davies, Jelavic, Huddlestone etc - are good footballers. It's not the exact job he had when he took over Hull, it's worse. At Hull he had a solid Championship side built by Nigel Pearson at his disposal that was already moving forwards, Fulham are a shambles.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 What a load of tosh - you really think that what is said on here has any bearing on any game? If the players are doing it, that's a different matter, but some anonymous 20-something on an internet forum means jack shit towards how the game goes. It was a more general statement, not only applicable to some members of the forum. I think complacency this season could be our undoing. You only had to listen to some of the City faithful, following our great early run. Talk changed. Suddenly it became not of 'relegation survival', but of 'pushing for Europe'. When levels of expectation become greatly inflated (and we saw this under Sven), this DOES have an impact on the support within the ground. You just watch the reaction, God forbid, if we go one nil down on Saturday to West Brom... there will be impatience, probably a lack of singing for a while and some 'fans' may even boo. This, as we know, can have a negative impact on the field of play. No, now isn't the time to be running before we can walk. Our good start will mean diddly if we can't sustain a run of strong performances for the next few games. It all needs to be kept in perspective within the context of this being a VERY tough division and relegation survival being our primary aim, at least this season. Anything else IMO, is a bonus.
