sylofox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 It was a more general statement, not only applicable to some members of the forum. I think complacency this season could be our undoing. You only had to listen to some of the City faithful, following our great early run. Talk changed. Suddenly it became not of 'relegation survival', but of 'pushing for Europe'. When levels of expectation become greatly inflated (and we saw this under Sven), this DOES have an impact on the support within the ground. You just watch the reaction, God forbid, if we go one nil down on Saturday to West Brom... there will be impatience, probably a lack of singing for a while and some 'fans' may even boo. This, as we know, can have a negative impact on the field of play. No, now isn't the time to be running before we can walk. Our good start will mean diddly if we can't sustain a run of strong performances for the next few games. It all needs to be kept in perspective within the context of this being a VERY tough division and relegation survival being our primary aim, at least this season. Anything else IMO, is a bonus. Also to add to that Col. We set up a do they mean us thread and fans on here moan about arrogant fans on other forums. Then our fans are just as bad if not worse and I bet some have moaned about Watford Burnley and QPR fans for saying much the same.
benpicko Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Anybody else seen that Steve Bruce is being heavily linked with the Fulham job? Bizarre! I thought the interim manager they have in now just won like 5 in a row?
fuchsntf Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Yes I do think so. He's not allowed to do it, he didn't follow the guidelines and has been punished. To glean that he "thinks he's above everyone else" from something like that is ridiculous. I doubt there isn't anyone on here who has broken some minor law or guideline at work. probably thought, I am reffing these despots everyweek, now its my turn, to fo something ...wild.
Adster Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Multiply is a good album - discuss. It's really not.
ealingfox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Wonder if anyone will be bringing their sackpardew.com poster to St. James's on Saturday?
Guest ttfn Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Wonder if anyone will be bringing their sackpardew.com poster to St. James's on Saturday? Amazing what a crap 1-0 over a fellow bottom half candidate can do for confidence. I'd definitely take one of those on Saturday.
Kitchandro Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29826136 Rio Ferdinand suspended and fined over Twitter comment QPR defender Rio Ferdinand has been suspended for three matches and fined £25,000 by the Football Association for comments he made on Twitter. The 35-year-old ex-England captain has also been "severely warned as to his future conduct" and told to attend an education programme arranged by the FA. He was tagged in a message that read: "Maybe QPR will sign a good CB (centre back) they need one" and wrote back: "get ya mum in, plays the field well son! #sket" - a Jamaican slang word.. what a classy comeback How on earth did this glorified chav get a gig on Match of the Day?
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 I was at Stoke v Southampton tonight. Saints were a real delight to watch, lovely passing, totally dominated then almost threw it away before nicking it at the death.
PAULCFC Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 I was at Stoke v Southampton tonight. Saints were a real delight to watch, lovely passing, totally dominated then almost threw it away before nicking it at the death. We should be allright a week on saturday then.
lestajigs Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 We're gonna get absolutely hammered there. On paper yes, but this is a game we will probably win knowing us!!

I hate Ferdinand and everything he represents-he's a scumbag in every respect. BUT 3 game ban for that tweet? F*** me, it was pretty funny comeback in the circumstances. How does that impact on his ability to play football? He's not demeaning women, just this guy's mum, and given that he's just gone on Twitter to wind up a geriatric ex-footballer, Rio's probably got a point. Would #slag have got him into so much trouble?

What crappy, boring lower league round of hoofball have you been sent to this weekend Geoff?

Would #slag have got him into so much trouble? For one, the Twitter culture is a terrible and lousy playing field for a lot of people in desperate need for attention. Why else would you want to have others participate in your mundane/bland daily routine and why would you feel the urge to partake in that experience? Most footballers, as well as other athletes, just don't know how to use Social Media appropriately.
Guest MattP Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 I can't believe anyone can have any sympathy for Rio Ferdinand. If public figures are going to use Twitter to air their (often obtuse and mundane) opinions then they should also rise above anything that comes back or go to the relevant authorities if people cross a line on race/death threats etc This man, who is heavily paid by his club now cannot do his job for 3 weeks of the season because he can't control himself on Twitter, he'll still get paid as well. If any of us behaved on social media to the extent we couldn't go to work we'd be sacked. QPR should take the chance here to do the same thing and see if it holds up at an employment tribunal. Why anyone follows footballers on Twitter I have no idea anyway, in about thirty years I could count on one hand the number of interesting things they have said.

sylofox Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 Was Rio not a big noise in the choc ice thing on twitter. He tries to put himself on a pedestal moans about others comments then does it himself. He has never met the woman and comes out abusing her and she has said nothing. At the end of the day he is a roll model to some he gets paid very well for it and should act his fvcking age.

So unprofessional. Especially for a player that's played for his Country and one of the biggest clubs in the World.
Guest MattP Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 Was Rio not a big noise in the choc ice thing on twitter. It's quite incredible really, he's always been moaning about the racial abuse he has received on Twitter yet he's now become a person who has been fined and banned from playing football for making sexist and racist comments on the same thing.
Corky Posted 30 October 2014 Posted 30 October 2014 I can't believe anyone can have any sympathy for Rio Ferdinand. We certainly didn't on his Leeds debut, £18 million worth of talent ripped apart by Akinbiyi and Sinclair. 3-0 down after 30 minutes, one glorious miscued volley over the bar. Another display like that at Loftus Road please Rio.
