Fox92 Posted 22 June 2014 Posted 22 June 2014 I think Hart epitomises what this country does with it's players. Ie bigs them up to something they aren't. Hart is hugely over-rated both by the fans and the media. Like most, if not all of our players actually. Yeah and that's not his fault. The media, especially Sky, build us up for something we're not. But Hart hasn't been any worse than any of the other players. I've been amazed at how average Cahill looks, and asleep for Suarez's second goal, Baines still isn't convincing defensively, Sturridge remains too greedy and I'd rather play myself ahead of Glen Johnson. It's unfair to single out Hart.

I think he could have done better with the Balotelli goal and both of the Suarez ones, he seems to have become somewhat of a plaything for Pirlo also, Im not saying hes completely to blame but it would be good to look at alternatives.

Wow that's hypercritical. Nothing he could do about either Suarez goal.
Dan Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Not bothered as long as Shaw, AOC, Barkley and Sterling all feature. Absolute waste of a glorious chance if they don't. I fancy us to beat these comfortably funnily enough. We'll blood the likes of Barkley who'll have no real pressure at all and we'll prove we've got it in us - just not when the pressure's on. 0-3 England.
Ric Flair Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 I can' bring myself to pick Smalling, EVER. But none of our defence deserve to play another game for us. Hart Milner Jones Lambert Shaw Wilshere Lampard Lallana Ox Sturridge Sterling
Beliall Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 I hope lallana plays and Scores twice. I have him at 20-1 to be englands top scorer
Jaspa Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Forgot to mention Lallana tbh Seen Baines and Oxlade-Chamberlain have been ruled out of this too
Beliall Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Frank laptop captains england tomorrow according to SSN, they really are shit.
Grandad. Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Who cares? The game is completely meaningless, win or lose. Who actually cares? Part of me hopes the shit cvnts get humiliated. On the other hand, only a small handful of the players are that unlikeable compared to previous squads. I do want Hodgson & Rooney out though. No World Cup game is meaningless, saying that I expect nothing less from Kitch with comments like that. This game gives us a chance to send young kids onto the World Cup stage without fear, they can go out there and play, the damage has already been done, a loss is no worse than the other two, a draw is meh and a win (if the younger lads do play) gives up a small bit of optimism going into another qualifying campaign. Suppose people don't look long term though. Granted I don't want Hodgson to be England manager, but I do want to see these young lads in our squad succeed and take us to a new level, an attacking free style side. Tuesday for me would see a different side, near enough completely and drop the pissing 4-2-3-1, which becomes 4-4-2 far to quickly and leaves us massively exposed. Foster Smalling -- Cahill -- Jones -- Shaw Barkley -- Lampard -- Wilshire Sterling -- Sturridge -- Lallana Rumour is the Ox isn't going to feature because of his knee problem, so sorry to disappoint on that view, if he was fit he would be a certainty to start. Gutted now Flanagan and Stones haven't gone to the World Cup, hindsight is a brilliant thing mind. Rooney, Gerrard, Jagielka, Johnson and Baines may as well fly home now and get their extra extended holiday. I really hope Gerrard retires now, time to move on, 34 years old, will be 36 come the next tournament, what is the point in putting your body through extra qualifying games and friendlies for a tournament you're not a certainty to see or make the squad of, if he does see 2015/16 season. You can see he is bitterly disappointed, he clearly did want the best for England and has lead us with a fantastic attitude and pride. One thing I will say is, he will never produce Liverpool performances for England, that's just the way it is, he is one of the best midfielders the world has seen, no need for an argument but he is. He has done his time for his country, him and Lampard probably again in hindsight should probably have packed it up in 2012 but the 100 cap mark was a massive factor I think in them carrying on No problem with Lampard starting on Tuesday, I would of had Henderson in there ahead of him but Henderson hasn't let himself down this tournament, been played in a system that restricts him and has still not disgraced himself. Not a bad honour for Lampard, last ever game and he captains his country in a World Cup game, 'meaningless' or not.

In the grand scheme of things, playing the Costa Ricans tomorrow means fook all. He's going to start Lampard apparently.. To play in his final game. That doesn't smack of this game having any meaning for trying out new players in new formations. No, get this game done, come home and back to the drawing board. If we lose again tomorrow, the performance of our so called 'stars' would have been a fookin embarrassment.
Jimothy Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Confirmed line up according to bbc sport twitter @BBCSport: England starting-XI vs #CRC: Foster, Jones, Cahill, Smalling, Shaw, Milner, Lampard, Wilshere, Barkley, Lallana, Sturridge. #WorldCup
Unabomber Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Interesting, I assume it is 4 2 3 1 with Milner Barkley and Lallana behind Sturridge.
Jimothy Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Interesting, I assume it is 4 2 3 1 with Milner Barkley and Lallana behind Sturridge. Thought Wilshere might play in the three behind the striker.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Bet 365 are offering odds of 15/8 on a Costa Rica win with England at 4/5! Do they know something I don't? Edit... that it should come to this... I can easily see us lose. .
Beliall Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Costa roca are going to turn us over if we're not careful
leicesterisme Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 I think we will win quite comfortably personally.
Finnegan Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Have you ever got 0 points in a major finals? For the record, I can see you winning, just asking for curiosities sakes.

Never at a World Cup, but we did at the 1988 Euro's.Edit: And then two years later went on to a penalty kick away from the World Cup final, so maybe we shouldn't get so down.

Grandad. Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 My eleven wasn't that far off, only Milner for Sterling, compared to my eleven. I don't know if that is quite worrying though, me and Roy picking nearly the same elevens, see mine would of been slightly more attacking though, Sterling over Milner.
Jimothy Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Euro's was a different ball game back then though, 8 teams format wasn't it? Yeah it was 8 teams so I imagine the group would have been much tougher than what you'd get these days. I'm just trying to put a positive light on things.
