Sure there is a vets4pets at Oadby that do lifetime innoculations for £100 well worth it, Cat litter is cheap at Costco as well.

The adoption centre suggested we had two So they can keep eachother company while we are out. They are already chipped and nuetered (sp?) which is good. Going to be fun, yer they said they would be fussy with food. Wel start with the cheaper brands and upgrade if required haha.
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2014 Posted 22 June 2014 My old cat liked cheap aldi cat food not whiskers but the new one likes whiskers only. We recently lost a cat due to a road accident and within a 10 days we were offered the chance to re-home one as a friend of a friend faced eviction if she couldn't find a new home for it. This cat was 6 months old, hadn't been neutered or chipped so we have had that done. Fully recommend all that and all the obvious things really. Fuss them but don't over fuss them..... They are the ones in control. Enjoy!

It's not recommended getting another one after you already have one as they may not take to one another, so if you're going for multiple cats then get them together. Regarding food, mine hates Whiskas but likes Felix, but hates anything with beef.. you'll catch on with preferences pretty quick. They love dreamies too. Don't expect female cats to be the most interactive either. Hope that helps.

Solihullfox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Keep food well away from litter tray and make sure food area is kept very clean in order to avoid upset tum and potentially expensive vet bills. Whilst the kittens are kept indoors (we kept ours in until 6 months old and allowed out gradually for longer periods over time - ours are not out at night due to us losing one that was probably chased, took us 5 days to find her) interact and play with them to give them sensory stimulation and to get them to bond with you rather than just being the person that feeds them. GET PET INSURANCE - do it as soon as you have them, don't wait until there is a problem as any vet visit will then have the problem excluded from the insurance along with anything vaguely related in the future. Be prepared for little gifts - our two are now one year old and bring us worms, frogs, mice, birds and squirrels.....so far.

ElusiveEd Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Cat flaps are a defo. The magnetic ones are best as it may keep other cats out. I found a good bungee rope attatched to a home appliance, pulled thro flap and attached to cat teaches them what it's for. Pull tight, let cat go, Bang, cat in house. 2 or 3 times and they soon get the idea. A pitbull type dog placed in the same room as the cat also teaches them the benefits of a cat flap.

Parafox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Surprised there's no reference to pussies on here yet!! We have a cat. I hate the bloody thing. Neutered tom. Quite funny though as he sits in the bushes in our front garden and leaps out at passing dogs. People have taken to crossing the road.
