StanSP Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 It'd be nice if Argentina helped Messi out this summer. Wonder if we'll see another extra-time/penalties...
Raj Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 2 very ordinary teams in my opinion(which dont account for much)...one difference..Messi
kingcarr21 Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 close game. 1-1 with Argies sneaking it in extra time
MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Although they have talent in overabundance, team Argentina stand and fall with... Messi. If he turns up, they'll win. If he doesn't, he'll demoralize the whole rest of the squad. And still, you can't really contain him. Messi can have a lacklustre performance just like against Iran and then shifts up a few gears and scores the winner. He strikes me as a bit lazy at the moment, but once he catches fire and tastes the blood... I'm not expecting too much from this game, Argentina are pretty much nailed on to win this more or less comfortably - I just hope that we're all going to see a great match with brilliant saves, breathtaking goalscoring chances and goals on both sides. Still, deep inside, I'd like Switzerland to prove all the doubters wrong and put in an unrivaled effort, edging this game in the end by a narrow margin. "Hope, it's always hope that gets me".
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Every game has been won by the bookies faves so far (in the last 16). Can't see this one being any different. If there is to be a surprise, I think it could be the USA over Belgium.
HEGGSY Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Why chip that. Reminded me of Bournemouths keeper last year, should be 1-0
Beliall Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Why chip that. Reminded me of Bournemouths keeper last year, should be 1-0 because i just backed the swiss to score first that why
Nalis Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 I'm all for supporting the underdog but if Switzerland manage to pluck their way past Argentina then what a boring little quarter of the draw that will be. Holding out for 2-1 Argentina. Class will prevail.
One Legged Beaver Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 A solid first half from us. Can't keep spurning golden opportunities though otherwise Argentina should eventually create something.
purpleronnie Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Can't see the USA or Belgium being concerned about playing either of these.
lgfualol Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 I would go do other things but knowing my luck I'd leave the room and miss 6 goals.
ScouseFox Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 despite a nice sized return if they do i really don't want argentina to win the world cup. they've been woeful.
VinceNoir Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 despite a nice sized return if they do i really don't want argentina to win the world cup. they've been woeful. Same here. Colombia for me!
purpleronnie Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 now watching kasabian on i player.... surely it's not that bad.
broughtonblue Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Just heard leicester mentioned by the commentator whilst my mind was wondering, completely forgot Gelson Fernandes played for us!
Matt Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Just heard leicester mentioned by the commentator whilst my mind was wondering, completely forgot Gelson Fernandes played for us! Didn't hear the commentator mention it but I just saw the name Gelson Fernandes up on the screen and recognised the name thinking he played for Leicester, did a quick search and he did! Can't really remember him playing for us, apparently he made 15 apperances scoring once. Knew I recognised the name as soon as I saw it though.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 July 2014 Posted 1 July 2014 Missed the first half but the highlight so far has been Gelson's clearly intentional snap on Di Maria
