Didn't hear the commentator mention it but I just saw the name Gelson Fernandes up on the screen and recognised the name thinking he played for Leicester, did a quick search and he did! Can't really remember him playing for us, apparently he made 15 apperances scoring once.

Knew I recognised the name as soon as I saw it though.

He was meant to be a major player for us under Sven, but didn't work out.

Since we reached the round of 16, it's like no one wants to win the cup.

Edit - obviously, that's a collective "we", meaning the watching world.

What a borefest this is.... Really disappointed with the Argies, who seem to rely way too much on Messi.

In my lifetime the Argies have always had someone methodical who can dictate the tempo of games from the middle of the park, a Veron or Riquelme type; but there doesn't seem to be any technical class in central areas with this bunch, certianly not in the same bracket as those pair.

They've got plenty of strong attacking options but they all seem to crowd each other out and are having to compensate for a weak (in a creative sense) central midfield.

Di Maria is loosely what people refer to as a "False 10" in the modern game, basic translation a winger who gets stuck in the middle of the park, he just runs at people and not really the kind of player you look to to dictate a game. Much as people like to make Mascherano out to be decent deep lying player he's just a thug who likes to hurt people. You are quite right the lack a proper influence in the middle of the park.
