N’Golo Kante’s future at Stamford Bridge is looking increasingly uncertain as new signing Jorginho continues to stamp his authority on Chelsea’s midfield in their pre-season games.

The 26-year-old was impressive for Chelsea in Australia last week and he followed up with another polished display against Inter Milan on Saturday.

The former Napoli star looked assured alongside Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley against the Serie A side and Kante could find it difficult to force his way into the line-up when the Premier League season gets underway in a couple of weeks.

Many people expected Jorginho and Kante to be partnered together next term, but new manager Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation could mean that the pair are fighting for the same role in the team.

Jorginho has dictated Chelsea’s play during the pre-season games and he appears to be a far more offensive threat than Kante. That potentially makes him a better fit for Sarri’s preferred style of play.

Barkley and Fabgregas appear to be the ideal partners for Jorginho and Kante may need to adapt his game if he is to flourish under Sarri.

Having established himself as the best holding midfielder in the Premier League over the past few seasons, Kante suddenly finds himself under major pressure following Jorginho’s arrival.

With the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus rumoured to be interested in signing the World Cup winner, it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.

Bolton Wanderers have signed former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City defender Jack Hobbs on a free transfer.

The experienced centre back has signed a one year deal at the Macron Stadium as Phil Parkinson looks to sure up his leaky defence ahead of the new Championship campaign.

After being released by Aitor Karanka at the end of last season, Hobbs left Nottingham Forest in the hope of finding a new club.

He had an injury plagued time at the City Ground and was restricted to just 50 Championship appearances in four years at the club.

However, he has impressed Parkinson whilst on trial at the club and he will now be keen to put his injury troubles behind him and help the Trotters preserve their status in the second tier.

Hobbs began his career at Lincoln City before earning a move to Premier League giants Liverpool in 2005.

He spent four years at Anfield but only made two appearances in the Premier League.

The defender signed for Leicester on a permanent basis in 2009, after impressing on loan, and he made a name for himself at the King Power Stadium.

He then moved to Hull City in 2011 where he had 3 successful years before finding himself at Nottingham Forest in 2014.

Speaking to the club website, Hobbs said: “I’m delighted to get the deal over the line.

“Obviously I’ve been up here with the team training for a few weeks now and to have agreed a year-long contract is fantastic. I just can’t wait to get started now.”

After conceding far to many goals last season, Phil Parkinson will be hoping the addition of Hobbs can help tighten up his defence and push the club away from the relegation zone.

Chelsea to make N'Golo Kante their highest earner after offering France midfielder £290,000 a week deal to stave off interest from PSG

Chelsea have offered to double N'Golo Kante's money and make him their highest-paid player in a bid to keep him out of the grasp of Paris Saint-Germain.

The central midfielder's stock has risen since he moved to Stamford Bridge, where he won the Premier League in his first season.

He was also an integral part of Didier Deschamps' World Cup-winning squad in Russia this summer and The Times claim he has been rewarded with a new deal worth £15million a season over five years.
