seenitall Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 I'm quite happy - it's like having Sven back offering out huge contracts to past it/not up to it players.......
Guest Mee-9 Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Brilliant news for when we come back down after next season!
leicesterisme Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Very strange some already writing him off. After leading us to the Premier League surely he at least deserves a chance to show he is good enough at this level?
Kitchandro Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Not sure he'll be all that great in the Prem tbh. We'll see.
MC Prussian Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Great news and a positive declaration of intention. He may not be the fastest, but fast and reliable centre-backs are hard to come by and are usually snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain for a meagre £40m approx. So, well done on completing this deal and long may it continue! We've got a great spine of established players tied to the club for a longer period of time and we'll do just fine with a few more key additions to bolster the squad accordingly.
ealingfox Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 It is odd how some people just can't see the utter stupidity in the whole 'Suarez or Aguero will mug him off big time' argument.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Good news. He makes up for not being the quickest by excellent positional sense. This forum once more... talk about not giving one of our own a chance.. I'm pretty convinced a few losses early doors and it will go into meltdown.
Callabinho Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Hopefully he had his mind on this when he let 8 in against France.......
MPH Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 The black John O'Neill Just as long as Liverpool pay more than 400k for him..
MPH Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Hopefully he had his mind on this when he let 8 in against France....... You make it sound like it was just him on the pitch and all the goals were his fault...
Happy Fox Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 I don't think he warrants that length of a contract tbh.
Brooksy Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 I'm quite happy - it's like having Sven back offering out huge contracts to past it/not up to it players....... Yeah, I forgot Wes cost £5 million.
MPH Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Pretty sure Nuge will see Wes getting a 3 year deal and be a bit annoyed....
Tom's Pasta Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 Great leader, his performances set the right example for the rest of the squad. Gonna be a big player for us next season.
broughtonblue Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 It is odd how some people just can't see the utter stupidity in the whole 'Suarez or Aguero will mug him off big time' argument. Was going to ask you to explain what you mean, then realised Suarez will be playing in Spain next season!
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 July 2014 Posted 4 July 2014 He will raise his game to the next level..believe it.. I agree. When we signed him I had doubts but he quickly became twice the player I'd seen play at forest. I'm sure he's capable of making the step up, pace isn't the be all and end all of premiership defending, though Moore does have pace and I'm sure we will be seeing plenty of him next season alongside Wes.

Great post and I hope we do see Moore play regularly. Agree particularly with the bit about pace. There seems to be a general obsession with central defenders having pace yet those same people have encouraged us to sign the likes of Hangeland, Lescott, Halliche etc all whom have little pace. Plenty of good centre halfs in the prem have little speed but are still decent and I think wes will fit into that category. Vlaar, Williamson, McCauley, Collins, Shawcross to name but a few are all very slow but still good defenders, I believe wes will fit into that select group
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 His wife will be relieved that there's food on the table for the next three years. Was a bit close back there... Great news in all honesty. Been one of our top performers and integral to what has been a very successful squad. People can say what they like about Nugent and Morgan struggling to make the step up but they were important parts of the squad that got us there, the one that we need to keep together and then add to rather than pull apart.
Livid Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Wes is solid and reads the game exceptionally well. I have concerns about his pace, but premier league quality centre backs with pace don't come cheap. He's the leader of the pack and he's staying put!
XLM Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 He will have a torrid time in the Premiership. Far too slow. Very worrying, imo. Hope he will only be used as cover. As much as I agree that we need some pace at centre back, I disagree with your qualm with Wes. He's not the quickest, but I feel those that write him off are thinking purely of the obscure situation where he's in a one on one footrace with Aguero or Suarez; an unsolvable problem really unless we basically sign someone like Gary Cahill or Thiago Silva, which obviously can't happen. Wes' experience will guide us through this season.
Stevosevic Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Knockaert, Vardy and Nugent next please. Then De Laet and Moore and we're pretty sorted aren't we in the current squad? King and Schlupp must be up in a few years but Jeff was paid big bunce by Sven so he might not get what he thinks he's gonna get. Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James have signed new deals, while last season's top-scorer David Nugent has also agreed a new contract, which should be officially announced shortly. City are also talking to Liam Moore and Jeff Schlupp's representatives, while Andy King and Jamie Vardy will discuss new deals next week. anstey blueboy Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Think back to the mon days stevie w, gerry t and matt elliott didn`t have alot of pace but we did ok them etc
