Le Renard Napoléonien Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 8:52 Hull City manager Steve Bruce is planning to hold talks with Stephen Quinn after confirming there have been ‘nibbles’ for the midfielder. Leicester City and Derby County have been linked with bids for Quinn, and Bruce has acknowledged the Republic of Ireland international is keen to be playing regular first-team football. Left-sided midfielder, 28, prem experience. Anyone got any more in-depth knowledge of the guy? I'm not sure we could exactly guarantee him first-team football with Mahrez and Knocky both capable of playing on the left. He did win players' player the year they went up...
theessexfox Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Don't know anything about him but our wingers do seem thin on the ground so I like the sound of it
Finnaldo Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Need one more winger for backup methinksz could do worse so I wouldn't mind signing him to be honest.
Le Renard Napoléonien Posted 13 August 2014 Author Posted 13 August 2014 Nope, he only joined two years ago, Brucey bought him from the blades Not a goalscorer by the looks of it, but he's made 57 appearances for Hull in two seasons.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Squad filler. If it's not much money I'd take him.
LCCFox96 Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Can he not play central midfield as well? I've sure I've heard of him playing central midfield somewhere. If yes then for squad depth another left sided player who can cover central midfield wouldn't go amiss. Also should be fairly cheap if Hull want rid of him.
Dan Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I've always quite liked him as a player. Seems to have something about him.
Robin JD Popley Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Think he had a good run in the FA Cup team last year - remember seeing him playing in the final, and yes, previously played for Sheffield United.
Wortho Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I've always thought he a good player and can get a few goals
lcfcsnow Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 From cambiasso to Stephen Quinn, no thank you. Would rather have kept Dyer than sign complete average players such as Quinn.
surrifox Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 good old dull - wonder if there fans still do that camp claw thing
Carl the Llama Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Doesn't offer much we haven't got. Cover on the wing?
sphericalfox Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 He's not a winger. He plays left and can play centrally. He's tenacious, and with a great degree of bias I'm all about bringing in Irish players, but is he better than what we've got? No. Will he come from being backup at Hull to backup in our squad? Unlikely.
tom_kettering Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I didn't think we did business with Hull? Let him go to the sheep
Bryn Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Tbh we need bodies in and he's played 50 odd games in the PL without embarrassing himself so I'm in favour.
sphericalfox Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Tbh we need bodies in and he's played 50 odd games in the PL without embarrassing himself so I'm in favour. He's not a bad player, but I'm not sure Pearson is all of a sudden going to have a rotational midfield all of a sudden, so if he's unlikely to get games at Hull, I'm not sure he's going to get more here.
Kitchandro Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Not interested if we're buying him. Why would we want to buy players for back up? You buy players that are good enough to make the current players backup, unless it's a goalkeeper. On loan fair enough, you sure up the squad with loans. But surely we've got enough money to go out and buy players who we actually want to play in the first team. (And why are we not being linked with any defenders!)
Gio Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Tbh we need bodies in and he's played 50 odd games in the PL without embarrassing himself so I'm in favour. He only played 15 games in the PL. Majority of his appearances for Hull were in the Championship or in cup competitions. I'd take him as a back up as we need a 4th winger but if he wants regular game time he's probably not suitable for us
artursteppe Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 We've got a bloke called Jeff Schlupp, he is our 4th choice winger. Is the dull bloke better than him. I doubt it. It would need somebody very good for me to be happy seeing Jeff displaced.

It would need somebody very good for me to be happy seeing Jeff displaced. Schlupp is much better at LB where he can overlap and run into space WITHOUT the ball. When he plays further forward (LM/ST) he tends to see a lot more of the ball in more congested areas, I've noticed he tends to run a few yards then put his foot on the ball and slow the play down, if he was more direct in advanced areas then he could well be a top LM. Just so frustrating.
