Walshy5 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 With Pardews days looking numbered is anyone else a little concerned Newcastle could come in for Nige? He's been there before and could be a very tempting offer.
Harry - LCFC Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Nah, although he's clearly a better manager than Pardew he's 'untried' so they won't bother.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I don't think Newcastle would be that attractive to him, he is building something good here and would benefit far more staying with us. Newcastle is a mess and the chairman is a complete d***
Bryn Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I don't know Ashley or Nigel personally so I can't claim to know what interest if any there is in either direction, but purely pragmatically Nigel is on a lucrative contract here and there's no way Newcastle will pay the money to prise him away.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Owner is a complete cvnt, don't think any top managers would go near Sports Direct arena while that chump is calling the shots.
Soar Fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Nah. Would expect Newcastle to go for David Moyes.
Ozwin Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Didn't they give him like a 20 year contract, he's gonna cost a fortune to sack.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 No chance. We're in a much better position to finish above them
Mark_w Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Nah, although he's clearly a better manager than Pardew he's 'untried' so they won't bother. Pardew was fairly 'untried' when they got him wasn't he, he hadn't had any real success in the Prem had he? I don't actually think Alan Pardew is a bad manager. I think he played a fairly significant role in getting Southampton to where they are now, he's had one below average season, one pretty average season and one incredible season with Newcastle (which is fair enough when you consider the fact that he took over not long after they had been in the Championship). I think they'd be making a mistake if they sack him, hope they do because if they get the appointment wrong they could be dragged into the relegation battle and I don't think they will be if they stick with him. As for Pearson going there, I'm not too concerned (and I usually get very worried about losing Nigel). Obviously it's a much bigger club than us, and you could see why it would appeal, but I think it's a bit of a poisoned chalice and I think Nigel would be intelligent enough to wait for a better opportunity. Because like a Villa for example, Newcastle expect far more than I think they're really capable of with their current squad and level of investment.
lgfualol Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 No way. he hasn't even had a full year in the premiership. They'll go after someone more high profile.
Harry - LCFC Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Pardew was fairly 'untried' when they got him wasn't he, he hadn't had any real success in the Prem had he? The point is that he had been there though. You almost can't get a job in this division unless you've been in it before (or were some mediocre coach in La Liga). That seems to be the criteria anyway - Pardew will have been regarded as a better appointment simply for having a few seasons in the division. Fully agree that he hadn't done much, but that doesn't appear to matter when making the decision.
zak_lcfc Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Would make no sense for him to leave Leicester now, We're in a better position than them, Pearson has built a team here that he seems very happy with and our club has a better owner who seem delighted with Nigel and the job he's doing here there is no way he would swap that for the mess at Newcastle right now!
st albans fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Are we this bored. Really? what about qpr when arry get the push! I mean, where does it end? If the owners have given Nigel the support he wanted in the window financially then we have no concerns. If they haven't then we could have. All hugely speculative.
TrentFox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Yes ! I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if he should be considered. If he is, then who knows. Look at it from his perspective as a manager rather than ours as supporters. It would be one he'd have to think about if approached.
gazfox9 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Can't see why NP would wanna go there. Some of the shite they've signed I'm not sure any manager will get the desired results. No doubt Newcastle are potentially a huge club, but reckon NP would be insane to go there.
Jimothy Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Think they'll go for Moyes to be honest. They'll want someone with a proven record with middling premier league team. Moyes has a good record with getting the best out of cheaply acquired players from lower leagues, mixed with the odd big money signing. Perfect for Newcastle. He's also builds quite solid, hard to beat teams. Newcastle are all over the place at the moment, they need to steady the ship. I know these are all attributes that can be levelled at Pearson, but Moyes has obviously done it for longer and at a higher level, bar the Man Utd disaster. Also Pearson is 100/1 with the bookies. Can't remember a well known manager getting a job after having odds that long.
Webbo Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Unless any of us are close to Nigel I don't know how anyone can say what will happen. Newcastle obviously have more potential than us, I wouldn't rule it out completely.
sylofox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I really don't see nige thinking about this at all. He came back saying he had unfinished business I really don't see that is finished. He has built a squad and has money to spend and we are looking good. If he left he could be out of work in six months so why would he? All this will do is cause speculation for no reason.
johnny the fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He needs newcastle like a hole in the head...
Sir Fynwy Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Shit owner who is desperate to sell the club, Nigel would be stupid to go there for less than a guaranteed £10m
