suffolk fox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 If he continues in a similar vein for the next home game, he'll end up with even more critics. I just don't see where his current set up, tactics, management in game, call it what you will, is getting us. Any team placing too much focus on the opposition rather than themselves is asking for trouble imo. People are quite right to insist that he's bottling it. It baffles me that in the top tier of English football he is making such amateurish mistakes when the problems are quite clear for everyone, bar himself, to see. Hear, hear, this spot on. Hell of a lot on here and elsewhere will disagree though. Best form of defence has always been to attack to set up in the hope you won't lose is no good at any level especially in the premier league.
premier blues Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 The next Stringer Pearson interview should be interesting , if it happens
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I am sorry but his arrogance is unbelieveable. He will not hear any criticism of his tactics from anybody. He gets narky at anyone who says his job may be in danger etc. Football is a business, hate to admit it but it is. The owners have thrown millions to bring Leicester where they are. It is not all his doing. They are going to demand a return; and with the way corporations demand results instantly he could be looking for his ub40. I also think his arrogance is stopping him from playing Knockaert & Mahrez. He is obviously unhappy with them and the team is suffering for it. No one manager or player is more important than the team. Take care all & Regards
Dickov22 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I really don't think he does get narky when asked about whether his position is under threat. He usually just replies that it's out of his hands and he will carry on doing the job he's paid to do. What else is he supposed to say?
Dr The Singh Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Maybe he needs to focus on the negativity his team plays!!!!!!!!!
Fox Ulike Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I was at the Newcastle and Swansea games. Two wingers at Newcastle? Really, both were so deep it left Ulloa isolated up front on his own? Two feeble attempts on target. Swansea come on Vardy is no winger but to suggest again, he was out wide is laughable? Again, Ulloa up front on his own? Southampton no wide players at all according to you fair enough didnt make this game but everyone who went says the diamond isnt working? Obviously our take on games is totally different. No wingers against West Brom, Southampton? Some people would say we created chances against West Brom at home? I would disagree we never looked like scoring Foster hardly made any saves. We all have differing opinions on games just because mine differs from yours doesnt make it more real or not? All of this makes no difference all I suggested is at times NIgel Pearson would be better to be more humble in interviews and accept sometimes he maybe wrong? Hence the saying, "accept criticism with a willingness to change?" People including you pay a lot of money to follow city so when statements made appear to be,"I don't care what people think". Doesn't endure him to anyone. Including me. Right, well now you're saying Pearson is stubborn and unwilling to change his tactics, AND you're criticising him because his change of tactics didn't work. You've successfully started an arguement with yourself...
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 People are really trying to manipulate their argument to fit their point. We didn't play the diamond against Newcastle, Swansea, Palace or Burnley and looked pretty crap in them games too. 'Attack is the best form of defence' is the biggest loads of Sunday League cliché bollock's I have ever heard. With the exception of the 2nd half against United we have had our backs to the wall. Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea and Stoke all dominated us possessionaly and had more attempts on goal, particularly against Stoke we were very defensive, with Pearson being classed as a tactical genius after that gritty 1-0 thanks to our only shot on target. Read comments like 'sick to the back teeth of negative football under Pearson' Wow I mean it must be so frustrating having to deal with being shit for years and years and playing awful football. Oh actually we won the league last year with 100 points and played fantastically, so the mass over reaction is laughable. Everyone's expectation rose after picking up some expected early points, and if it had been the other way round I'm sure less people would be calling for Pearson to be sacked. My time as a city fan has been largely revolving door shit fest, so everyone needs a bit of patience and accept this season is going to be a slog, there will be periods where we can't buy a point. But for the first time in along time we are both financially and managerially sound, and to change tact ando potential chuck this away would be damaging to the future of the club and our reputation, and risk being tainted with a reputation akin to Cardiff.

Hence the band name as they all signed off the dole using a UB40.

None us know truly what has gone so wrong, but we all know we are getting beat soundly every week at the minute, and something has gone seriously wrong and the players look devoid of confidence. None of know the best way to get the best out of his players, he knows them. I don't like mid season changes, and have stated I hope he gets us going again, but that's not to say if this carries on till Christmas in this way, he shouldn't go. He is paid millions to assemble a squad, and get the best out of them, and if he can't get them to compete, and get results he will lose his job, as would anyone else who didn't perform in their job. There is no over reaction here, don't expect to win any game, but what I expect is to create chances to win games or at least draw a game, and with us we need to create enough chances to score at least a goal a game, as we cannot defend for 90 minutes, or keep a clean sheet. Doesn't matter if you are calling for Pearson to go, or not, everybody can clearly see that he is getting it wrong at present, over to you mr Pearson to get it right, and I hope you do, because it hard watching at the minute.
sylofox Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 I loved P45, awesome band... "Green Green Grapes" and " Im Leaving you" were my favorites Kingswinford Town was the best by far.
Callabinho Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 If all goes tits up against Sunderland then he will have a lot to answer for, he already has thanks to his bizarre post-match comments, but lose against Sunderland and I will seriously fear for his future, it's entirely his own fault though.
65RosesFox Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 Kingswinford Town was the best by far. I thought it was called Queenskilo City
65RosesFox Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 I have no issue with Pearson playing the diamond formaiton if he playes the right players for it. You have two options to play the holding midfielder - Cambiasso/Hammond Four options playing in front - Cambiasso/King/DD/James Then three options playing at the tip of the diamond - Knockaert/Powell/Mahrez unfortunately at the minute he's not doing this and without an attacking minded player at the tip we have no real threat on counter attacks. Powell has shown in his two brief cameo appearances what an attacking midfielder should do (barr his shooting ability) by coming to retrieve the ball from deep. for me based on recent performances and assuming he is going to stick with the diamond against Sunderland I would like to see ---------Hammond---------- Cambiasso ---- James ------Mahrez/Powell----- I think Hammond deserves a start as he shown in games against Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Everton he is good at breaking up the play. and based on recent performances none of the four centre mids that have played have put in a great performances. I would drop Drinkwater as above, I think he has been poor last couple of games. King is not the type of player to play at the tip of a diamond and if Mahrez is able to play after international then i'd start him, if not give Powell a chance. This then gives us options on the bench to change it with King/DD/Knockaert/Powell and still stick with a diamond that is more attacking. If he does stick with the diamond all season I don't know where or when Albrighton will feature.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 As I said in another thread, he needs to be careful with this. If we had clearly made some very good signings (IMO we haven't) AND if we were clearly showing signs of improvement (we aren't), then he could could tell his critics to shut up. Actually and slowly, he's starting to grate a little.... Football is about fans, it's about opinions.. And many of us, I would suggest, feel he's getting it wrong currently. We need to see ideas, no denial and most importantly, results. Essentially, he needs to start backing up his dismissal of 'negativity' with 'positivity'. Then, we'll all be going home happy. The Sunderland game is a biggy. Good post Col, and I agree with every word of it.
filbertway Posted 13 November 2014 Posted 13 November 2014 Good post Col, and I agree with every word of it. Would love to see the quote where he has told people to shut up. It's unfair to get wound up about a headline a journo has made up.
Bettsj2 Posted 18 November 2014 Posted 18 November 2014 Stop losing then..... You cant have it all.........or can you?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 November 2014 Posted 18 November 2014 Forget wether you like Pearson or not, the bloke isn't doing himself any favours, to try and tell us he's playing this formation to stop other teams dominating the ball, and making us endure shit football, would be understandable if it works. But to insult people's intelligence, is another thing, we are not having a fair amount of the ball, and look lost when we so have it, and it's clear when watching we have no threat, and just waiting to let a goal in. The formation doesn't work, he hasn't got the players that can make it work, more or less by his own criticism of his players, so stop trying a formation that should have been perfected pre season, and players brought in to suit, and get back to the way we played to get 9 points. I'm trying to stick by him, but he needs to wake up and take the negative criticism he brought on himself As I have said before, Pearson doesn't have the balls for admitting his mistakes, and his negativity is worse than that of any of our posters. He's a nice guy, no doubt, but is bloody awful of late, as a manager. Sort yourself out Pearson, and stop blaming others.

There is no shame in admitting that you need to adapt and learn - but I don't expect Nigel to say it! (I would like him to bring in tactical helpers). So we can listen to what he says (which will be low on self analysis...) but it's what he does that is more important - he will be measured by the team he fields and the tactics he plays on Saturday. IMO he needs to give up the obsession with control in middle and work on creating chances - and picking the teams to do so. Let's see - what he does... he must have learnt something and looking at the posts, I guess he needs to show that he can adapt.
davieG Posted 20 November 2014 Author Posted 20 November 2014 Leiceester City boss Nigel Pearson says there are no poor teams in the Premier League By Mercury_Sport | Posted: November 20, 2014 By Rob Tanner City came a cropper at home to West Brom Comments (0)Leicester City’s recent slump against sides deemed to be some of the Premier League’s lesser lights may have come as a surprise, but not to manager Nigel Pearson. City enjoyed a sensational start to life in the Premier League and earned plaudits for their performances against Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea, Stoke and, of course, Manchester United. But they have failed to win in their last six games, against Crystal Palace, Burnley, Newcastle and West Brom, sides all considered to be rivals for Premier League survival. Next up is Sunderland, who come to the King Power Stadium on Saturday just three points ahead of City. The City boss said there are no poor sides in the Premier League and it is almost “classist’’ to talk about a large gulf between sides in the division. “There are lots of reasons (for the different runs), there is no doubt about that,” said Pearson. It is the reality and not something that is particularly surprising, if I am honest with you. “I am always quite amazed that people find it surprising. I would say it is not an uncommon occurrence. “It shows how little regard some people have for a lot of teams in the Premier League. “There aren’t really bad sides in the Premier League, and it is almost classist talking in many ways. It is a perception that I wouldn’t say was totally wrong. “If you are talking about some games being won or lost on game-management, that does happen to be the case in a number of our games so far. “Some of that may come down to experience and know-how. Our players are learning quickly, but it is up to us to turn our fortunes around, and we are capable of doing it.” Pearson admits City have a lot of scope for improvement but is confident his players can regain their early-season form. “My reflections on what has happened so far and how I continue to quantify what has happened so far, or what may happen, is based on what we are capable of ourselves,” he added. “At the moment, we have a bit to do, but I do believe we have got the capacity to continue to get better. “But, of course, when we are not winning games people find it a bit harder to buy. “That is what I believe and we believe. We have to go out there and do it.” Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leiceester-City-boss-Nigel-Pearson-says-poor/story-24574087-detail/story.html?#ixzz3Jd32oo4M Follow us: @Leicester_Merc on Twitter | leicestermercury on Facebook

Why would he be surprised that his defensive no-attacking diamond of centee mids against out of form teams wouldn't work??
ScouseFox Posted 20 November 2014 Posted 20 November 2014 well we're a poor team at the moment and we're in it so he is wrong
