The west is a lot nicer than the east from my experience of the NC500. There's so much to see, depending how much to want to stick the main route. We just did a lot of stopping when things too our interest rather than planning too much in advance.
I cannot help too much with places to stay as we booked rooms each night..but in Scotland you can pretty much park up anywhere I believe?

Off to Budapest in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any recommendations?

Did the HOHO went we went, which covered many places of interest. A day at the spa is nice, as is an evening river cruise - assuming you're travelling with a partner, not a mates weekend/stag do.

Was the Bombonera stadium open for tours in buenos aires. Was thinking of booking this city for a holiday next year

I guess it would be. I went to matches there on Tues and weds night. But I did a tour at river plate. It’s a cool city, you should go.

European Bar Guide for pubs. Have a melange in the coffee shops.

Pinball museum is a great way to kill a few hours. Gellert thermal baths are fantastic.

A little flury of Black Friday deals has me booked on a Hamburg, Bruges, Amsterdam cruise for the end of January and two weeks in Cape Verde for March.

I've been looking at a self catering holiday for the Lake District, which appears to work out more expensive than the two All Inclusive deals just booked.

I remember drinking something black that is apparently made with like 50 different things from the forest and tastes of death

I reckon I had that as my first drink on my stag do.   It was a mountain to climb from there to recover from drinking that with the added pressure of being a stag!

So, after visiting St Lucia this past March we were debating a drive down to Florida from the Toronto area. Scratch that idea!

Late last night we decided, fook it let's do it proper and decided to book Mexico instead. Flying over to Playa Mujeres for a week starting on my birthday in a few weeks. First time ever that we have gone on 2 different vacations in the same calendar year.

The 4 hour flight is very easy to handle so a win-win. Beats a 1350 mile drive to Florida! That drive can happen in the summer or another year or never.

Going to be awesome being away for my bday and Xmas on a beach (instead of the snow and winter misery). Super excited!

2024 trips completed with Turin gets a very big thumbs up for a city break.

Safest city I’ve visited in Italy. Far more to do than you may think - Savoy history, National Cinema Museum, Egyptian Museum. Beautiful views as well given the proximity of the Alps. Luckily got as good as weather you are going to get. Also as always Italian food superb.

I'm off to cape town for 12 nights just after Xmas.  Any good ideas tips etc

Cape Town is class. Food, drink and scenery are unbelievably good.

Penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape point, table mountain, Robben island, beach along Camps bay, do a few nights in Stellenbosch and a couple of vineyards (Tokara and Waterford are great).

Back from Budapest and have to say what a great city. Didn’t really have any expectations but it was very clean safe and cheap. Great architecture and things to see. Great restaurants too. Not a massive fan of Christmas markets but the beers there were under £3 a pint. Would really recommend for a weekend or a few days away.

Already got a booking in for 2026, Miami to Seattle cruise via Colombia, Panama, Panama Canal, Costa Rica and Mexico. Followed by a cruise from Seattle to Alaska.

I've had Alaska on the wish list for a long time, so very excited to actually have it booked.

The company we usually cruise with have just introduced a new tier in their loyalty scheme, which means we get lots of stuff we had to pay for included in any category cabin/experience of booking :D

Knowing him he's probably on another holiday somewhere half way around the world.

Fair play.
